Hi Folks, I'm trying to work out what's going on here.      I have a series of lines in WGS84. I run them through this process:  LengthCalculator -> Reprojector (to _AZMED_) -> LengthCalculator.  This gives me two lengths for each line, one in WGS84 "units" (meaningless themselves), the other in _AZMED_ units (metres I think).  I expect the absolute values of these lengths to be different, but the relative values to be the same (i.e. that I can sort by either length column, and that the order will remain unchanged).  However this isn't the case - the relative values are different.  Sorted by Azmed you see:   Sorted by WGS84, it's obvious that the azmed order is different.    However this doesn't seem to happen with polygons and the AZMEA projection - their sort order seems to remain consistent.  So the question - what quirk of projections am I missing? I have assembled table in SpatiaLite holding 30 million points of depth sounding observations originating from a number of vessels, each with a large number of files. To keep some metadata about where each point originates from, I've kept the file path and name in an attribute called "filepath". From the attribute "filepath", I need to extract a specific part which holds the name of the vessel. I guess it would be some regex in use here?  Example of the attribute's content: \\folder\\VESSEL_Lola\\folder2\\file1.shp \\folder\\VESSEL_Maria\\folder1\\file2.shp \\folder\\VESSEL_Lily\\folder4\\file3.shp \\folder\\VESSEL_Christine\\folder1\\file4.shp \\folder\\VESSEL_ClaudiaMaria\\folder2\\file5.shp \\folder\\VESSEL_Maria\\folder3\\file6.shp and so on..  I need to extract the "VESSEL_Maria" etc. from the attribute and map to a more explanatory value in e.g. AttributeValueMapper. trying to convert NGDC HYD93 format data (b93) to ascii text xyz or csv. using CSV as the target format, i'm using coordinateextractor to expose the xyz values. the problem is, the z value is being converted to a positive value, while it is negative in the original data. I've been plaing with paramaters in both the coordinate extractor, the target writer featrue type, nothing. any thoughts, either preserving the negative value, or multiplyiing the attribute by -1 by a paamater in the writer, or an arithmatic operator for the writer value?

Are there any plans to add an "ORDER BY' parameter to readers that query SDE data?  I'm trying to process millions of records from versioned SDE feature classes in FME.  I need to read data from an SDE version so I think I'm limited to the ESRI Geodatabase reader to do that.  Since I'm using the StatisticsCalculator transformer to summarize values from the rows based on a common ID, I'd prefer to have the data read in order by those ID's.  That way I can utilize the "Input is Ordered by Group" option to make the transformer more efficient.  I could use a Sorter transformer to do the ordering before statistics are calculated, but that means I have to load millions of features into memory.  I'd rather just have the data ordered for me by the database on it's way into the workspace.   Another alternative I tried was using the SQLCreator and have the database run the summary statistics for me with a GROUP BY statement.  I only need attributes,

Hello everyone,  I would like to take a set of data in a grid and divide each polygon so that they are all cut up into whatever number of pieces I specify. I have tested this using the TILER transformer and it works just the way I would expect, cutting a square into 256 pieces. However, it only works if I send in one polygon to get diced by the TILER. I would like to send in 1000's tp get cut up. Currently when I send 1000's it dices the entire dataset, not each individual polygon.  I was hoping there would be a "group by" option in the tiler so that it would tile each polygon based on an attribute. That is not the case. Perhaps there should be a transformer called "Tiler Hopper" that feeds the tiler each individual polygon to get shredded.  Does anyone have an idea of how I can emulate this imaginary "Tiler Hopper"?  Thanks     

I made a custom transformer and exported it to the network. Next I made a new version of the transformer. When I open the transformer for edit, FME asks which version do I want to edit. This is okay.  However, when I add the the transformer to an FME script, it puts in the latest version. What if the FME user wants to use a previous version? Is there a way?  Thanks

I have a workspace where I need features from two readers in order to complete a task. The source dataset for one reader will be a single feature class. The source dataset for the second reader will be multiple feature classes (possibly hundreds) and the transformers used are Clipper, AreaOnAreaOverlayer and Dissolver. Is it possible to somehow to easily group the multiple reader sources so as not to have each reader be a single input? Is there an easy way to accomplish this with FME?

I am interested in using parallel processing in a workspace and I understand that the Group By parameter must be uswed. If using a transformer that has two input feature classes such a Clipper or AreaOnAreaOverlayer is it required that the field used, in this case Value, in the Group By parameter be in the attribute table of each feature class? So in order to use parallel processing with the Clipper transformer both the clipper and the clippee would need to have the field Value along with the corresponding attributes to work correctly. Is that correct?

I have for example 100 routes and about 5000 points......these 100 routes are identically until certain points (mean different lengths)...so i want as a result every point with every route with measure extract in an attribute...I#ve done that and the result is right...My Question now is if there is any possibility to have a better calculation performance....now i have for this workbench (screenshot) about 40 mins calculation time. Can i place the transformers in another order or can change some options? Thank you and greetz Franco    

Is there a way to determine which features share a common segment?  The CommonSegmentFinder just routs features as to whether there is a segment in common with any other feature or not. Whereas the SpatialRelator gives all the features that touch the feature.  What I would like is a cross between the two,  the list of related features as in the SpatialRelator, but the relation being shares a segment with

Hi Folks, I am wondering if its possible to reproject a 1.8Gb ecw raster image in datum GDA94 MGA54 Zone 54 to ecw raster in the datum of Popular Visualization CRS [EPSG: 3857]? Hi everybody,  I wrote a shutdown script for logging, now I want to call a XMLFormatter at the end of this tcl script to linearize my output. Is this possible and how? I guess the XMLFormatter would need the Parameters:Formatting Type, XML Input and Output File  Other question, how can I run an other workspace within tcl, so that it also works with the FME Server?  Background: I write a xml file with the aixm writer and want the output (xml file) to be linearized. Therefor I want to use the XMLFormatter.  Thank you, Mel

Hi! I want to perform a post and reconcile operation on a whole SDE geodb using FME workbench.   I'm following the guidelines here :  http://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME_ReadersWriters/FME_Readers_Writers.htm#geodatabase/Writer_Directives_EntGeodbFeatClass.htm  It states that :  This optional directive reconciles all the changes between the version specified by the writer directive VERSION and its parent version, even those edits made outside of the current translation, and then posts the version to its parent. [...] Since reconciling is done for all features including those inserted/updated/deleted outside the current translation, then this directive can be used in an empty workspace to simply reconcile and post a child version to its parent. So if I understand that correctly, I can have a completely empty workbench except for a writer with the advanced attribute Post and reconcile set to yes and run the translation and it will sync the version and it's parent? Anyway, it's not working 

I have the following python script as the Startup Python Script parameter:   import arcpy  out_folder_path = "C:/output"  out_name = "fGDB.gdb"  arcpy.CreateFileGDB_management(out_folder_path, out_name) print("Job Finished")   When running the translation, FME hangs indefinitely at this point :   Using user-specified Python interpreter from C:\WINDOWS\system32\python27.dll  Python version 2.7 successfully loaded  FME_BEGIN_PYTHON: evaluating python script from string... If I remove the arcpy CreateFileGDB_management function but leave the arcpy import, everything is fine and I see the "Job Finished" string in the console. I tried just setting up arcpy.env.workspace instead of creating a new fgdb, but it hangs there as well.    Anyone knows what's going on? Thanks a lot!

Currently, I use RasterExtentsCoercer to get a closely define edge with my raster images. The raster's I'm using tend to have a 0,0,0 nodata border around it. However within the whole of the image, there are small areas of 0,0,0, for example inside dense forestry areas.   Because of these areas, the processing time when using the Data Extents mode is increased significantly. The machine will process it but it really limits my processing ability.  Is there a better way to pull accurate extents which follow closely within the nodata ? It cannot be assumed all edges are straight. So far using any of the "bounds" transformers has resulted in no exact bounding boxes.

I'm working on distributing data from a public administration. The data are documented in reports which describe the signification of each attribute. It's important to us that the attributes in the data appear in the same order as described in the document.  To do that attributes ordering, I used to move each user attribute up or down in the writer's "Feature Type Properties" window. This works very well... until I change the output :-(  So my question is : is it possible to change the order of attributes with a transformer (outside the writer) ? An 'AttributeSorter' or 'AttributeOrganizer' transformer would be perfect for this.  Thank you for your help !  Best regards, Samuel
