Hi, I am trying to split a single line at multiple locations based on values in a separate table. I also want to be able to start splitting from either end of the line. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,   I have output some shapefiles with counts from an amalgamation of some points and some polygons. For example: I have produced a shapefile with the number of house fires in each county for all the UK. All is good.  But what I want to do is now, is produce a rate, based on population in each county. So for example: I want the rate of House Fires (HF) per county per 1000 population.  Rate = (HF / Population) * 1000  Both Expression evaluator and Attribute Creator are producing 0(zeros), this is frustrating.  Please help?   

Over the years, I have created a couple of custom transformers that may be usefull to others that I'd like to share.  Anybody know the procedure to submit a transformer to FMEStore? Is there some limitations, for instance, does transformers using python libraries not installed by default with FME are accepted?  Thank you for your advices,  Maxime Demers

Hi all,  I am using XMLFragmenter. I am giving "bldg:Building/bldg:lod2Solid" as element to match. So the result I am looking is, to know which surfaces are given as href for each building. (shown here)   Actually, I need to check if all the surfaces that I have are given as xlink or not. Therefore, I need to expose all the "Solid.exterior.CompositeSurface.surfaceMember{}.href". But because they behaving as list attribute and also they are not stored as list in this transformer I do not know how to expose them (because the list numbers are dynamical and them might vary from 4 to n for different buildings).  I am looking forward to hearing from you.  Thank you in advance, Mani

Hi,  so, is there a way to round parameters of tfw file (e.g. 6 decimal places) while writing a tiff file.  I'm having a problem since FME changes the last (10th) decimal place of tfw file. And I'm using no transformers whatsoever.  PS. The resolution of original tiff is 0.2 and the last decimal of output tiff is 4. Does this have any correlation or is it just coincidence?

I have a work bench that updates a file geodatabase, I would like the fgdb to zipped upon completion.  When I select the option on the writer source destination I get an error that the fgdb is not accessible.

I have a workspace which loads data from source to destination (ArcSDE SQL Server) using dynamic schema ( same as source data) . I am facing an issue where a source feature class has a field called AREA . The field gets created in the destination feature class  as DatabaseName.OwnerName.TableName.AREA . So it didn't carry over the values from source to destination . Is there any way I can do mapping for that field alone . Is is possible ?? 

With FME moving toward the ability to continuously run on FME Server and FME Cloud, I am wondering if there is a way to incorporate python libraries (ie NLTK, GeoPY, etc) for real-time web mapping.  For example, I would like the ability to strip the body text of an XML feed and send it to the NLTK library for semantic learning and strip it of geo location data. From there. I would send it to the GeoPy library for geocoding.   I am a bit out of my element here and I know that with the python caller I can incorporate simply python scripts, but I would like the ability to call entire libraries from GitHub.  Has anyone had any luck with or experience in this regard?

I am reading data form an Oracle database and writing it to an ESRI File Geodatabase. It works fine until I try to use the fanout feature.  I get this error:   Geodatabase Error (-2147219115): The row contains a bad value. FileGDB Writer: A feature could not be written  It doesn't matter whether I use the fanout at the writer level or at the feature type level, I still get the same error.  The data in the fanout field is a simple numerical version of the current date (20150209).  There are no spaces in the field. I have tried changing the geodatabase overwrite settings, the name of the geodatabase, and creating a completely blank geodatabase. So far, nothing works.  If there is another way to apend the current date to the feature type name in the writer, I would love to hear about it.  Thanks!

Hello,  I have 3 millions points that I have to find in what districts they are localized. There is almost 200 districts to test. I am using the pointOnAreaOverlayer because it is faster than the spatialRelator.  However, it still takes a lot of time. I wonder if using the bounding box of districts in a first POAO and then a listExploder on all matchs and finally a second POAO with a GroupBy on the districts that BBOX matched, to test in what district the point is really localized could be faster?  This strategy would be similar to how spatial query are done in database when using the spatial index. Doest the POAO already use such strategy internally?  Any info about that? For now my tests are not really promising...

Hi!  I have a list attribute such this one:  ['a', 'b', 'c', 'a', 'b']  I would like to have the number of different values present in that list.  In python I would do:  list=['a', 'b', 'c', 'a', 'b'] len(set(list)) >>> 3 Is it possible to get that count with some fme transformer? 

Hello, I have 2 csv first CSV with Id and other csv with ID plus additional attributes. My aim is to get geometry from Oracle Spatial based on IDs from first CSV using featureReader and then use featureMerger to add addinal attributes from 2nd csv (joining on ID). For some reasons I am not able to write to destination writer. I have created a schema file for writer. I am getting an error as "no schema defined for feature .... " for FeatureReader.  what I am doing wrong here? Cheers John

I have a workspace where I read a database, do some QA/QC and then write a text file that contains all the results of the QA/QC.  Currently that text file is writen to the local C dirve of the computer where the workspace is run.  I would like to write this file to the root folder where the database is read from but I am having trouble figuring out how to do that. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hello,   i have a many 1000s of point features with some time series data. Each point has a CODE attribute column for 2000 to 2010 inclusive (CODE01, CODE 02, CODE03 .... CODE10). These code attributes can be one of 10 entries (1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128, 256 or empty).  I need to look over the attributes in year order for a given feature and ascertain how many times the code value has changed in those 11 given years.   EG;   so you can see Feature 1 would have a new attribute recording 0 changes, feature 2 would have 2 changes (to 64 and back to 32), feature 3 would have 7 changes and feature 4 would have 5 changes (missing does count as a change).  I thought perhaps i should transpose the data? have each feature exploded into 11 features, one for each year, and then use the Multiple Feature Attribute Support (using Feature(-1) etc) but if im dealing with a million points, that will make 11 millions points. Is there any way of dealing with a previous attribute in a similar way?  all help mu

OK I'm looking for the easiest way to accomplish this task.  I'm provided with a contour shapefile. I need to convert the contour shapefile to a raster or DEM. Then I have centerpoints for 1185 polylines (all 1185 lines have only two vertices, so getting the center has been easy). I want to overlay the centerpoints of all 1185 polylines on the contour raster/dem to extract the elevation at that exact point. I will then add 1100 to all of the values (Example: Elevation 5803 would become Elevation 6903) and write it back to a field in the polyline layer the centerpoints originally came from.  Can anyone point me in the right direction to accomplish this?

Hi, I'm having trouble restructing my (aspatial) data from what I can best describ as multiple rows per uninqe identifer each containing a feild name and respective value to a single row per feature per feature where there field name values become columns. The example below probably explains this better:  ---INPUT---- ID,Field,Value 1,FieldA,Cow 1,FieldC,Sheep 2,FieldA,Dog 2,FieldB,Mouse 2,FieldC,Cow  ---DESIRED OUTPUT--- ID,FieldA,FieldB,FieldC 1,Cow,,Sheep 2,Dog,Mouse,Cow  Does anyone have any tips as to how this is best don? Aggreagting is based on the ID is easy, but manipulating the resultant list items into the format of the desired output is eluding me.  Regards. Rob.

Hello,  I want to create a shapefile from a view in Oracle Spatial. View is created by another application by querying number of table. So schema of the view changes every time. I am able to create shapefile first time but once schema changes I am not able to create. What should I need to do to handle this dynamic schema.  Cheers

Hello!  After reading several related Answers I believe that the following problem has still not been addressed. Here it is:  I would like to generate attributes according to existing and a-priori unknown attribute values.   For example: Let's say that an Attribute A exist with attribue values X1, X2 and X4. And let's say an unknown unique attribute value, attribute value X5, is added to Attribute A. The requested method should then generate the attributes X1, X2, X4 and X5. They will exist next to the already existing attribute A.    Does anyone know the Answer?  ?Kind regards, Jochgem

Hi all, I have a csv which contains tree columns: ID, latitude and longitude. These lat/lon values are projected in OSGB36. My questions is: How can I convert these latitudes and longitudes in OSGB36 into latitudes and longitudes in WG84? I would appreciate any help.

I need to delete entire lines on an excel spread sheet with over 1 Million line items based on the sum of the amount field. Basically, I have one large spreadsheet with I first need to categorize by department name, then vendor name, and delete the lines of expenditures to each vendor if it does not exceed a certain amount. Is there a way to accomplish this on FME?

My workspace is run as a result of a directory watcher publication event. The event helpfully passes the JSON message about the location of the new file. I have the DirectoryWatcher reader in my workspace to read the JSON message.  When I publish to our FME Server 2014 using the wizard, I am able to specify which reader should be used to read in the notification event: this is on the Register Services screen, on the Notification Service line, clicking Edit..., there I can specify the Notification Reader. Similarly, I can specify the writer that will be used for the publish event (i.e. the Notification Writer).  In order to do automated deployment, I am using the FME Server REST API (v2). I am able to publish a workspace sucessfully using the API, as well as create topics and manage subscriptions. However, I cannot find a way of specifying which reader/writer should be used for receiving/sending the notification event message.  Is it possible to specify the Notification Reader or Notifi

Hi,  I have a geodatabase reader looking at 1 feature class. I have edited that feature class and my workbench is not picking up the changes. I have: Updated the reader feature types Removed the reader and added it again Moved the reader to a new gdb and added it again Deleted the temporary files in the c drive  It is as if FME is looking at the previous data that no longer exists?

I am trying to create a QC tool to verify the line direction of sanitary sewer lines that are imported to GIS from an ACAD drawing.  I am using a CoordinateExtractor to extract the x&y values for each end of the line and I am then using a matcher to compare the x and y values and tell me where I have duplicate or overlapping points.  I need to be able to verify that I have only one "0" index value at each of the point locations.  I can have any number of lines that converge at one point and only one of those should have an index of "0".  The matcher assigns a match id for each x,y value that matches.  For instance I have three lines that converge on one point and all the points that are created have a match id of "0" and at another location I have two lines that converge at a second point and the match id is "1".

Hi All,  Our 'all school boundaries' file can be dissolved into Elem, Mid, and High boundaries on the boundary number (elem_num) and/or boundary name (elem_name)  Using the ArcGIS Dissolver, I can dissolve with the 'create multi-part features' option, and I can accurately create the grade-level boundaries - even those with multiple parts that are then treated as one feature.  But with the FME dissolver, it actually breaks up features that were originally multi-part, and creates two features from them, and I can't create multi-part features.  I've tried dissolving by 1 field (elem_num), and 2 fields (elem_num, elem_name), and I get the same result - two features created from an original multi-part feature, and no multi-part features created.  I've also tried the aggregator, but I keep getting errors about intersecting edges, which I cannot find - but maybe that is the correct transformer to use?  Thank you!
