Hello!     I'm curious if there is a way to strip away the feature dataset information when using an ESRI file-geodatabase writer (GEODATABASE_FILE, dynamic mode)? My workbench reads a series of layers from an SDE database, performs some geoprocessing and then writes all the data to a new file geodatabase. I'd like to remove the feature dataset names which come from the SDE and output the layers in the root of the fGDB. Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance,  ~jess~

Hi, I have a large amout of data in csv files 4 mil in each. Always gets memory problem when reading the data. The rest of the process is fine. I use a 64 bit fme on a powerful machine and the memory is only on 60%. Any suggestions?  Henrik Rinne

Hi,  I have contour lines that I want to join to create polygons. I am using the Snapper transformer followed by the AreaBuilder transformer.  However, it is difficult to set tolerances for the snapping tool because my input files are all so different.  Is there a way to work out the maximum distance between two ends of a line so then I can set the snapping tolerances differently depending on the length of the gap?  Thanks,

I am writing features in a PostgreSQL database. Everything seems OK except for the following warning...  INFORM|Truncating existing table 'public.user_locations'... INFORM|Appending to existing table 'public.user_locations'... WARN  |PostgreSQL connection: Unknown type with OID 24635, treating as char(-1)  What does that warning means and what should I do to get rid of it?  Since I am about to load hundreds of GB of data, I just want to be sure everything will run smoothly after the upload...  

Looking to write out to SVG and require the syntax to allow the select attributes to be exposed when the mouse hovers over a particular polygon. Also is it possible to change the colour of a polygon when the mouse hovers over that polygon as well.  Thanks Brett

Can an FME server host any map services (e.g. OGC's wms services)?

Hello,  I needto check visibilities between a set of 3d-points. Therefore I created 3d-lines from pairwise 3d-points and tried to check for 3d intersections between the generated 3d-lines and 3d-surfaces/a DEM (WallSurfaces of a CityGML model). I used the SpatialRelator and SpatialFilter, but it seems, as if those transformers just work in two dimensions, because there were intersections detected, altough there is none in 3d?! All I need is the information, if the input-lines intersect one or more surface(s) or the DEM and not which part of the DEM/which surface is intersected.  Thanks

Hello,  I have a workspace in which depending on certain conditions I am calling another workspace using python shutdown script. This is my script  if DataType == 'ABCD':    wsr.runWithParameters(current_workspace_dir+"/test1.fmw",{"SourceDataset_GENERIC": FME_MacroValues["Input_FileName"]}) else....  If I run this from desktop works fine. but when I publish it to the server. It gives error in processmonitor log as "No FME Floating Licenses are available.  Contact your distributor to purchase additional licenses."  Other workspaces without chainig works fine. Is this something to do with licensing?  Cheers    

Hello,  I would like to read excel files containing one sheet only. But columns headers may not be same apart from 2 columns Lat and Long. I am using VertexCreater to create point from Lat,long.  e.g. Excel1.xls contains A,B,C,Lat, Long Excel2.xls contains C1,C2,C3,C4,Lat, Long,C5,C6 Excel3.xls contains Lat,Long,A1,B1,C1  How can I read excel file with dynamic scheam and retain all attributes for destination format.  Cheers.

Choosing parameter value from a list stored in an Excel field,  I couldn’t figure out how the a parameter value can be selected from a list saved in an Excel table  For example, in the screenshot below, I wanted to choose the “PlanType” value from the shown Excel table     How this might be accomplished?   Thank you  Best  Jamal

Hi All, I have a working workspace which has 4 writers in it (PDF, CSV, CSV, SHP). They currently all write to a single zip file.  However, what I'd like is for three of the writers to also write a copy of the data to somewhere else (not the zip file).  Obviously I can just create 3 more writers and plug them in next to the zip-ones, but I was wondering if there was a more elegant solution.  Notions I've had so far: - Shutdown Python to uncompress/compress stuff. Seems a bit heavy. - A file writer/copier but I'll need a lot of pipework to figure out filenames etc. - 3 new writers. - Add a second directory in the DestDirectory parameter (delimited with a comma). FME errored out.  Any other notions? Ideally the last one works but I'm doing it wrong.  Thanks, Jonathan

Hello,  I wiould like to convert csv file which has Lat/long in atrributes to KML. I am adding point to KML using "2DpointAdder". It works fine if I have static source schema. But I have csv files with only Lat/long as common attributes and other attributes may vary.  e.g. CSV 1 contains "Attr1,Attr2,Lat,Long" CSV 2 contains "Test1,Test2,Lat,Long" CSV3 may contain "Lat,Long,XYZ,ABC,DEF"  What is the best way to convert these csv to KML?  Cheers John

Hi,      I'm looking to calculate a building elevation and output the attribute to an sdf.  What I have is xyz files for bare earth, xyz of full feature (includes all elevated points) and an sdf of building footprints.      I need to somehow get the difference between the full feature point elevation and the bare earth elevation, then clip out all points that are outside of the building footprints, and lastly create the building footprint sdf.    I've never done this in FME before, so it will be a new process.    thanks.   

Hello,  I've got a FME script that translates features from 1 Oracle scheme to another. However, the data is pretty sensitive, and I'd like to stop the translation on any warning.  I can't find any option for this. Is this possible?

I am dissolving polygons that are 10 meter buffers of a water layer. The features to be buffered come from a line and a polygon layer. Input and output datasets are ESRI Geodatabase (FileGDB API)  I create the 10 meter buffers using the buffer transformer. I then run a dissolver transformer to dissolve all the buffers so I do not have overlapping polygons.  However, if I run a dissolver again, I get fewer polygons in the output than were in the input. I have now run the data through the dissolver 3 times, and I get fewer polygons in the output each time.  So my question is how do I know when all my polygons are dissolved? Is it enough to run the dissolver only once? If not, how many times do I need to run the dissolver and can FME work this out for me? Can I automate this so my workspace runs the dissolver the required number of times?

I would like to know how to do the following operation with FME Server:  I have an Oracle table from which I want to read some records with a given field value. I want to use an Oracle Spatial Reader with SQL query. I want to implement it with FME Server, and I want the user to enter the field value, which is used in the SQL query.  An example: At the Oracle Spatial table there is a field called "selector". I would like to create a schema with an Oracle reader with an SQL query.  Select * from table_name Where selector = XXX XXX=is the value the user enter in order to activate the server schema, Thanks.

“Spatial filter” with more than one filter source,  A workbench is developed to convert parcels from CAD to GIS. Hi!  I would like to snap a layer to a base layer, so I tryed the AnchoredSnapper and the Snapper transformers with tolerance. However, I cant achieve to have a perfectly snapped layer, because sometimes the tolerance is too short and sometimes to large. ( I suppose its a common problem when working with complex dataset)  The other solution I  am thinking is to snap vertex when they share a common attribute. I though about using the topologybuilder in order to have only lines and give a common attribute to those line when they intersect and then snap them.  Do you think its feasible or a going in wrong way? Hello, i am using the rest interface to query the server about the job completed. So i am using the url : http://myserver/fmerest/jobs/completed.json?joblimit=0&token=blablablabla  But the response doesn't contain the number of features output.  Is there a way to get this information via the rest api ?  Thanks,  Julien
