[Using FME Server 2018]I am reading in a large volume or MicroStation files and want to limit the levels that are being read in. In a previous step I created a an Excel file of all of the unique level names in the DGN files for the user to review and give categories to. The user can then delete what they don't want and make sure the categories are correct for the rest. In the next step these categories will be assigned to each of the level names. I realize that I can just remove any feature that does not have a category assigned to it later in the process but that is not efficient. Since the DGN reader can populate the features to be read, I thought I could just read the list of level names from the newly reviewed Excel file and use that to limit which levels I read in. The difference is not minor. If I read in all of the features unfiltered, that would be over 1 million features. Filtering it first can bring it down to under 700,000 features.I was thinking something with an Excel

After setting up HTTPS, I am getting 'Error Submitting job' message. The FME Engine log contains: FME Engine failed to register with FME Server 'localhost' on port 7070. Why would feature attributes be missing when using a reader? On inspection features such as fme_basename or fme_dataset are present in table but with a value 'missing'??

Hi,I have a dataset with an attribute containing a JSON file for every feature. The dataset also has an attribute called frequency. I'd like to add the key frequency to the JSON file, with the value in the frequency attribute. I tried using the JSONUpdater transformer:Update Type: Insert into Object JSON path: json Object/Array index: frequency Value Type: Plain Text Value: [the value of the frequency attribute]The resulting JSON file has a key frequency with a string of length 0 as a value.I also tried:Update Type: Insert into Object JSON path: json Object/Array index: frequency Value Type: JSON/XQuery Value: fme:get-attribute("frequency")This time the result was a key frequency with a value of null. How do I resolve this?

I have point feature with duplicated and sometimes tripiclated or more. But for each point we may have the attributes with different values. My goal is to have only a unique point, but keep all the attributes. So I used the Matcher (with generate list enabled) and then ListConcatenator connected to SingleMatched output. It's work perfectly, I have now only single unique points and I setup the counter option, so I know how many points this single point represents. If I click in one point in the inspector a can see all the attributes and expand the nested list. I have up to 6 list for some points. What I want to achieve is to be able to export the point to feature class and keep all the nested attributes from the list. Is that possible? Hi, I want to remove vertices from polygons that are located on straight or almost straight lines. I used the Generalizer transformer but non of the algorithms removed such vertices, even with higher tolerances that distort the original shapes. Is there another way to do this?

In the past I've always used a Group By with the line combiner to join lines that share a common value. Now there appears to be a parameter called Combine On Attribute - how does this differ from the Group By option?

Hi,I've installed FME Desktop 2018 and have a script that uses DonutBuilder to intersect areas with each others. Before this transformer I have a sorter to sort my areas to get the lowest symbol first. It works OK in 2017, which I just tried on my laptop. The problem in 2018 is that it seems that the DonutBuilder can't handle all the areas that overlap. Does anyone have a solution for this?Regards and thankful for help!/Ann

My workspace has a python startup script which calls a REST API and downloads and saves a zipped file geodatabase in zip file called out.zip. The zip file is then unzipped into a Downloads folder. However, because the zip file also contains a folder, and the folder name changes each time (out of my control), I don't know where the final file geodatabase will be located.For example, when I run the code, the location will be something like this:...\Downloads\20181018\QSC_Extracted_Data_20181018_103130077000-7024\data.gdbThe next time, the location will be:..\Downloads\20181019\QSC_Extracted_Data_20181019_111958123000-8024\data.gdbIt's that folder right above the data.gdb which changes.My workaround was to have a python scripted parameter which searches the date folder (20181019) for a file named data.gdb and return the path. However, it seems that the python scripted paramter is run at run-time prior to the download of the file geodatabase and so, when the translation begins, it can't fi

HelloI am trying to download multiple records using HTTPCaller from a API endpoint. I need to get all records updated in last 7 days. I plan to schedule to run this on daily interval.I have used a query to get the max date and passing it to get recent data. The issue is that the API only allows 1000 records at a time. One has to set an offset start at 0,1000,2000 etc to get additional records. I dont know the number of records updated until i query all of them 1000 at a time. What is the best way to loop the Httpcaller and automate it so when i run it all records that were updated in last 7 days let's say it is 1800 are downloaded.Unfortunately I cannot share the API details.

When I try and perform a backup using the ‘Backup to Download’ option in the FME Server Web UI (v2018) it says the process failed but when I look at the log file there are no reported errors and in History the status is marked as success.

Related to my question about importing a prj file, I think one of these might be a solution. My inputs are DGN files and my outputs are shapefiles. The DGN files do not have a projection defined so I thought I can replace the prj file created by the shapefile writer. I came up with two different ways to do this but I don't know what will work in FME. Will one of these work for replacing my prj file?create the shapefiles and save in a fanout by a given attribute (category)read in the source prj filerename the source prj file to match each new shapefile and overwrite the existing prj file, effectively overwriting the one created by feature writer. Hello all,I am processing a dataset of rainfall values. For each feature, I have 365 values in a list. I am using BulkAttributeRenamer to convert the list values to 365 attribute columns. The result is badly ordered. I was expecting the new columns to be ordered numerically, but they are scrambled up. It will take me a very long time to correct the order by hand.

Hi,I cannot find "Natural neighbour" as a interpolation method in any raster transformers in FME. I have FME Home Edition, ver: FME(R) 2018.1.0.3 (20180926 - Build 18552 - WIN64).The function is in the arcgis program, see more here Natural neighbourI have tried RasterDEMGenerator transformer in FME with "Auto", "Planar" and "Constant" as interpolation methods and with "Surface Tolerance" = 0 but the result is not as good as with QGIS or ArcGis. Will there be a future support for "Natural Neighbour" as a interpolation method in raster transformers in FME? I attache a raster done in QGIS from LIDAR point cloud and Grid 1 x 1 meter and the same done in FME so you can compare the difference.Best regards,Jonas

I'd like to write images to a particular folder ('Image'), then write a .dwg to it's parent folder. I'd then like the .dwg to hold (relative) external references to each image in the 'Image' folder. So that when the .dwg is opened, wherever it's written, it will display the images from the 'Image' folder. Is this possible? I have tried writing the rasters as part of the DWG writer, but it just converts them to PNG and writes them into the same folder as the DWG. It also doesn't give any control over the image names - they just have sequential numbers appended (e.g. 'DwgName01.png, DwgName02.png).Not relevant at this stage, but the workspace will be hosted on FME Server so the external references need to be relative rather than absolute.Any help appreciated.

Hi,I try to import an Excel file in a Postgres table.But before inserting the rows of the Excel file, I have to delete all records in the destination table where the values of a column from Excel file are matching the values of a field in the Postgres table.I achieved to perform the delete operation with an Aggregator transform that performs a groupby operation on the Excel column and a SQLExecutor transformer that deletes in the destination table all records whose values are matching one of the groupby values.That part works fine.But now, I don't find out how to plug after this the insert operation on a Postgres writer.Because the SQLExecutor returns only the groupby values from the initiator.I don't think I can use a DatabaseUpdater transformer with fme_db_operation for this context.Thanks for any help.
