Hi all.I'm tasked with updating a table that contains 10+ geometry fields. I'm opening it as a non-geometric table, extracting one (of two) geometries, and reprojecting this to a variable projection, based on other field data and/or coordinate values.This all works well, but when I try to update the targeted geometry field in the database table, all hell breaks loose in FME.I've tried to use the formats "Microsoft SQL Server Binary", "OGC Well Known Binary", and even "OGC Well Known Text".I usually get an error message about mixing image and geometry field types, but now it just times out all the update commands.I've tried using a writer with "update", and the DatabaseUpdater, but both errs, so I've ended up with a SqlExecutor (with an UPDATE command), which unfortunately times out.What is the proper way to accomplish this task ?

Hi.When reading multiple geometries from a single table, they're joined together in a single aggregate geometry collection.The individual geometries can be extracted by using a Deaggregator, with each separate geometry having its original field name as its "name". Writing multiple geometries back to the table requires the geometries to be aggregated, and a MultipleGeometrySetter set to Yes.If updating such multiple geometries, I assume that FME extracts each geometry from the aggregate, and updates the (geometry) field values designated by the individual "geometry name" as field name ?So, if I have a table with 3 geometry fields (A, B, and C), and want to use geometry A to update field C with a new geometry, should I create an aggregate with all 3 (original A and B + new C), or can I just include the new C value in the aggregate when updating ?Cheers.

Hi,I just added an end-sql statement to some workspaces, each with a comment on the preceding line. The comment is a T-SQL line comment on a separate line, i.e. with prepended "--" (two dashes).This fails, as it seems FME gobbles up the first dash before execution, rendering the complete statement invalid.If this WAD og a bug ?Is it possible to add comments as "/* ... */" instead, or would "--- ..." (i.e. 3+ dashes) work ? It also doesn't look like line-feeds in the statement are respected, so maybe line comments are a complete no-go ?CheersLars

Hi,  I have a shp file I convert and style to a Mapinfo Tab file. I now want to add the below metadata into the Tab file to set up a hotlink. I built a simple workflow that converts a DWG to KML. I'd like to write the KML file back to the same location I read it from. For example, dwg from path C:\\Users\\admin\\Downloads\\test.dwg, writes to C:\\Users\\admin\\Downloads\\test.kml It's simple to manually select the Reader file and Writer location dynamically using User Parameters, but I want to only have to select the Reader file and automatically set the Writer location/file name. Doing it this way would save a step if possible.

We have a large number of JPG images that cover the same area (flown with a drone in a criss-cross pattern). We need to split the set of images into smaller, workable groups. The idea is to, if possible, create an area of 2 rows by 2 columns that cover the same area where the images were taken. If an image falls within one of the four quadrants, it should be moved to a specific folder that representsthat quadrant. That way we can correctly subdivide the set of images into four, more manageable blocks. The 2DGridAccumulator seems to be able to setup a grid, but is there now a way to compare each image to each cell of such a generated grid and then move that image to a folder as explained above? As the drone flew in a criss-cross pattern, the date modified for each file cannot be used to determine in what block it should be placed (ie by just using Windows File Explorer to categorise the images). Apologies if there is a straight forward solution for this which I could not find.

Is it possible to use multiple CRON triggers in the same Automation, also while "passing" values from one workspace block to another using values from an embedded Automations writer? Essentially I would like to set up a single Automation that triggers at a given time, completes a number of steps, and then "waits" for a second CRON trigger to continue with additional steps, and with the additional steps part of the routine using a value from an upstream block.

I have a workspace that has several outputs, some of them need to be without any information so that at the end of the workspace execution, an email can be sent via emailer, how can I implement logic like this? Does anyone have an example?

Hi. Im having no luck connect to sql express db. Can FME connect to SQL Express? If so, should I be using the ADO or JDBC reader? Also, is there anything else that could be an issue? Ive put the server and instance name in and port 1433 is open. Thanks

Hi, can i somehow parse this file? I would need individual codes separated by a hyphen as the values of one attribute, for example the column name will need ICAO and each code will have one row.Thank you very much

In the picture, the correct text in the 1st example is attached to the point data, but in the 2nd example, the text is not attached to the point data, how can I detect the non-adhesive text or point data?

Hello, I have a 3d file created with Speckle, in json format (attached). Can you help me to read the geometry?  I have been able to extract the mesh data using the JSONFragmenter, but am struggling with making geometry from it. My attempt to export to PDF seemed fairly impossible, so I changed my approach to export to MS Word instead. I've made some progress; I've managed to create a single table that has all records from all of the worksheets - I need to be able to split the data out by these grids (i.e. separate sheets/tables for each grid). I also need these sheets to be in landscape rather than portrait orientation. However, I'm a bit stuck and I'd appreciate any advice that can be offered on how to achieve the result I desire! Looking for a way to load in files using their path stored in a csv column. I have several different file formats (.mif, .tab, .dem, .grd) that I need to reproject in FME. I've generated a csv that contains the full path location of each file on a new row. I'm wondering if it is possible to import these files directly from the csv, preferably separated by their file extension. I'm a complete beginner, so appreciate any advice. Cheers, Angus

Hi folks, I was wondering, is there a way to intentionally write to FME's temp location?  I want to create a workbench that's portable and needs to write a lot of scratch data using a few workbench-runners (deleted at the end of the process).  Is it possible to intentionally write to it? There doesn't seem to be anything on http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/FAQ/FME-TEMP-environment-variable . I've done some testing:  - %FME_TEMP% as the destination just means FME creates a directory called that. - <FMEDrive> in various guises just results in a workbench crash. - Not specifying a directory means that FME writes the file to wherever the workbench is saved. Only if it's an unsaved (new) workbench will this be the fme_temp directory itself.  Thoughts? Is this even possible? I'd prefer not to have to hard-code somewhere, or even bother with a user parameter.  Cheers, Jonathan

In the MapnikRasterizer settings, in the Raster Properties section, it is necessary to specify the number of columns and rows of the output raster.  When I enter this information manually, there is no problem. When I want these parameters to be filled in dynamically, i.e. using the number of columns and rows of the input raster (using a RasterPropertyExtractor beforehand to access the attributes), I get this error message:"MapnikRasterizer_2 (MapnikFactory): No values were specified for either NUM_ROWS and NUM_COLUMNS, or SPACING. One or the other must be specifiedMapnikRasterizer_2 (MapnikFactory): A fatal error has occurred. Hi, I'm trying to use the output of an Automations Writer (workspace 0) as input for the next workspace (1). For the two 'Text' User Parameters, I can use the drop down menu and choose the 'SFTP_Username' Attribute of the Automations Writer as the input for the next Workspace. However, for the 'Password' User Parameter, the is no drop down menu to choose the 'SFTP_Password' Attribute of the Automations Writer. I have tried inserting it as '{route.ConnectionParameters.SFTP_Password}' and this did not work. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated! Regards

On FME Server there is a job running in some kind of loop. I am not able to cancel the job; even when I cancel the jobs it keeps running. I have tried many things:- disabling the automation- removing the workspace We restarted the Server, but the job just started immediately.  I find this information in the System Events:Event Description: Triggered whenever an error message is logged to fmeserver.log.Event Title: Error Message LoggedMessage: ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "fme_job_history_pkey" Detail: Key (job_id)=(37020) already exists. Does someone has an idea how I can fix the issue?

Hi list.I have a dataset with mixed date/time formats in a single field.I want to create a cascade to transform these, i.e. "Try this format", and if it fails, "Try that format", etc.HOWEVER, when data are output on DateTimeConverter's rejected port (signalling a data error), the field value is cleared, rendering a cascaded approach impossible. Why is that ??Is there a way to avoid this unwarranted nulling of a possible valid field value ?Cheers.

Hi,I'm using the TopologyBuilder to create relationships between water mains (the edges) and the valve furniture (the nodes). Our corporate GIS (Gwater, Oracle based) has an start and end node for each feature to show connectivity, but ARCGIS does not . These values do not exist and I have to create them to align the two GIS systems.So far the results have been good, as the corporate GIS feature can only connect to two other features. This doesn't happen in ArcGIS for one particular type of feature called a cross valve, which connects 4 mains pipes.I can find the 4 pipes a cross connects to, but not the direction in which they connect to create the east-west and south-north connectivity. There's nothing in the topologybuilder output which suggests this relationship:  I was wondering if I can use the spatial location of the pipes that the cross connects to to determine which one is easterly of the cross, westerly and so on:Any idea how this might be achieved?
