Does the FME platform use the DCOM-protocol in any way?

Dear community,

Upcoming June the 14th Microsoft DCOM will get ‘hardened’ by a update. Therefore I would like to know if the DCOM-protocol is used in any way within FME and if anyone knows this update could affect FME server. If this is the case, it is necessary to test the new hardening. For more information on this update: (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb5004442-manage-changes-for-windows-dcom-server-security-feature-bypass-cve-2021-26414-f1400b52-c141-43d2-941e-37ed901c769c)

Used FME server versions: FME server 2018.1 & 2021.1

Hello @mkastelijns, thank you for your patience as we investigated this. We are confident that the DCOM protocol is not used in FME, but there's a chance that a third-party format might use it. Overall though, we don't expect any issues from this DCOM update.

@Mark Warren Many thanks for the research and the response. As far as we can see the update did not affect the FME installations, which is in line with your research.
