Is it possible to save temp to DFS when declaring environment variable for FME_Temp? We currently would like to seperate the temp data that gets created when running a work space to hit DFS, which resides on premium SSDs, as well as benefiting from deduplication. Is it possible to do this via DFS going across the network, it sees the location specified within the user environment variable pointing to it's respective location on DFS. It also creates the folders on DFS, however it still writes to the C volume of the session host being ran on going to C:\\users\\users\\username\\appdata\\roaming\\safe software\\fme. Or is this only possible if I added an additional hard drive to our virtual machine, then brought online and provisioned, and changed user environment variable for fme temp to point there? I'm new to the application, and if anyone is able to assist, it would be vastly appreciated. Thanks!

My question is a rather generic one as I´m still a beginner in understanding how to work with CAD and 3D formats, and not being a CAD user. I come from a GIS related education and now learning 3D, 3D visualization, city model administration with a hands on aproach. We have LOD2/LOD2,5 building models stored in DWG format. When viewing these files with a CAD program like Draftsight (or imported to sketchup/ArcGIS Pro) a majority of the faces appear as rectangles. But when viewing the files in FME Datainspector all the rectangular faces consist of triangles. If i run a "original" DWG file through FME saving it as a new DWG file using available writers ( AutoCAD DWG/DXF, AutoCAD Map3D Object Data, AutoCAD RealDWG) the faces consist of triangles even when opend with CAD software. Based on googling and older forum thread (* link at bottom ) I come to the conclusion that the faces which appear rectangular actually consist of triangles but the inner lines are hidden based on some d

Anyone else have an issue where you aren't able to copy and paste transformers? I'm on FME 2021.1.1.0 (Build 21619), running on MacOS Big Sur 11.6. I did run a system update yesterday, which may be contributing to the problem, but I'm not sure what to do about it. As a workaround, I'm going to use 'Duplicate' but it would be nice to have copy and paste back. I will never take my clipboard for granted again. 😁

Hi All,I’m new to FME and trying to convert dgn(V8) to GIS data. One of the parameters I want from the dgn is the level overrides symbology (such as color, style and weight) which shown in the attached image. Dear FME community, I have an important question concerning the FME workbench. I would like to know how one can extract the coordinates of the intersection-points of a line intersecting an area (a mesh with poligons). The coordinates of the intersection-points should have a maximal precision. To give you some more information about my problem I have attached some screenshots. here you can see a part from my workbench. Basically I just want to somehow combine the mesh and the lines and then extract the intersection points. here you can see the lines I was talking about above and the 3d-mesh. Now each line intersects the mesh at some point. I want to receive the coordinates of these intersection-points. I would be very thankful, if you could provide any information on how to solve this problem. If you need any more infos, just let me know :)
I have an existing ArcSDE table with several fields but there is one field called 'state' that has no value. I want to assign the value 'NY' to this field with no conditions, so all records should have the field 'state' with a value 'NY'. I can do this in ArcMap or using SQL, but when I try it with FME using the Feature Writer it does not update anything to that field. I have an Attribute Manager that sets the value 'NY' to the state field, I then connect it to the FeatureWriter Feature Operation: UpdateTable Handling: Use ExistingUpdate Spatial Column: No Row Selection:Columns: state FME Desktop 2019 Thank you.
Suppose there are some features in different state, I want those features to be written like that: ABC_STATENAME_DATETIME.xls.,, so that all the features for a particular state are written in a separate file with datetime and all features in other state are written in other file like that. I tried using attributevalue and datetimeformat in feature writer but it was taking too much time because datetime was being calculated for million for features that were coming in. I just want it to be a 1 file with a final timestamp, not multiple. Any easy/fast way?

Hello, I am trying to create a workspace that takes multiple user parameters and reads Esri Shapefile using the feature reader. But I have problems using the Feature reader when the dataset is not hardcoded. This works fine, no errors:$(FME_SHAREDRESOURCE_DATA)\\$(ENV_NAME)\\sve_1milj_Sweref_99_TM_shape.zip\\svk\\riks\\*.shp But if I create another parameter called FME_SERVER_FILE_PATH and set its value to sve_1milj_Sweref_99_TM_shape.zip\\svk\\riks\\*.shp. So that the feature reader uses the dataset:$(FME_SHAREDRESOURCE_DATA)\\$(ENV_NAME)\\$(FME_SERVER_FILE_PATH) The Error I get is: Shapefile Reader: 'C:\\ProgramData\\Safe Software\\FME Server\\resources\\data\\3DViewer-Dev' is not a valid Shapefile and cannot be read Is it something I'm missing or maybe a bug? Hello everyone, Is it possible to place the heights of points in the CAD format in FME, but so that the text does not overlap with the entities (lines, blocks, other texts, polygons, etc.). If the algorithm for a certain point fails to find the place where it will be displayed, in that case we can display such heights in the new layer. Any idea how to solve it?
