Hi,I very new to FME and I am trying to get a hold of things. Right now, I just need to make sure I can simply distinguish elements added to the workbench. However, I can't seem to be able to rename everything. This PATH reader for example, properties are greyed out. There is only one for now but I am planning to add many more and I will need to differentiate them. How can I rename them and that is shows up in the workbench? Kind regards,Anne-Marie
I've got a dynamic workspace I've set up, where a user can specify a SQL query that will be read from an Oracle database, and depending on user-specified input, generate either a shapefile, file geodatabase, or geopackage. I'm testing defining the schema based on a Lookup Table as outlined in this tutorial: https://community.safe.com/s/article/dynamic-workflow-tutorial-destination-schema-is-de-1 In my initial test, everything worked perfectly fine for shapefiles and fgdb's. However, some of the records in my database hold empty values in certain date fields that have been defined as 'fme_date" in the Lookup Table. In the .shp and .fgdb feature classes, these values are simply displayed as <null>. When writing the geopackage though, I get the following warning: GEOPACKAGE writer: Encountered date with empty or invalid 'yyyy' value. Expected format is 'yyyyMMdd', but got '' When attempting to open the geopackage in ArcPro, the geomet
FME Desktop 2020: How to filter all features that “don’t contain” a particular value? For example, in the screenshot below, I wanted to select all records that their “concatenation” field doesn’t contain the value 10
Helloi'm trying to do basic treatment but it's not working for me. I've looking for this on technical forum but i don't find exactly what i want to do.I have a layer of points (which represents adresses) and a layer of lines (which represents streets). The points are snapped on lines. I want to calculate in a new field for each point adress, his distance to the startpoint of the polyline which it belongs.I try with "PointOnLineOverlayer" combined with MeasureGenerator/MeasureExtractor but i don't reach purpose. Do you have an idea for my problem ?ThanksGui
How to convert json data from fme server manual trigger to xml data in fme desktop? (Is there a python caller or any other transformer tool?)
I'm using FME DEsktop 2020.1, version 20200605-Build 20573 on Windows 10 I have problem with the built in Webbrowser/web view in FME when trying to authenticate Webforum. The Web Service Authentication window(web page) is just white. It did work (rendered the web page) in the past, so Webforum must have added some html/css/iframe that does not work with FME's web component. I talked to Webforum about this and they say the problem is within the built in webbrowser in FME. (Webforum already support Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari) It's possible that the built in webbrowser does not support iframes or other html that Webforum use. Have anyone had a similar problem and managed to solve it somehow? FME developers, what web view/web component do you use to render html pages? FME developers, is it possible to use for example Chrome browser instead of the built in webbrowser to authenticate?
Hello FME'ersWelcome to What's Up Wednesday Thursday, our slightly late roundup of FME news for the week. Recent PollsI try to do a fun poll on Mondays and recently we had "How do you feel about the Parameter Editor window in Workbench", with this result: Interesting to see how that window is used by a lot of users - but not everyone. My poll for this week was, "which is the last transformer in your Recent Transformer list"? As you can see, mine was the AttributeExposer. How about you? Past, Current and Upcoming EventsStarting next week on Monday 6th December, we have the traditional 12 Days of FME competition. This year there are six puzzles spread out over 12 days. Most are just very simple quizzes. One might take a bit more effort. The grand prize?! It's pretty spectacular this year. I'd enter to win it, except our lawyers said that I couldn't. You can find out more details on this page. Currently underway is con terra's annual FME Adven

Hello,I want to split my citygml file into two by referring to a shape file which is an area.
FME Desktop 2020: How to delete All layers (feature classes) available in the destination esri file Geoddatabase before writing on it from a workbench? For example, in the screenshot below, I wanted first to delete all layers that are available in the destination esri file Geoddatabase before writing in it How this could be performed?
I would like to know how many parts are part of the IFMEAggregate for each record. Are they always polygones? How many records contain lines etc.
Hi, @david_r help find a solution. I have a long line with a large number of segments, how could I extend the last sides of it, with the same angle, till the first intersection with another line or edge of the polygon.
How can we download the workbench from the FME server showing the output of each transformer in the downloaded workbench? I want to get the joins and unjoins from the databasejoiner transformer.
Hi, I have a workbench that joins and manipulates data, then at a certain point it reaches an aggregator and creates two columns:Column 1 output sample:20688<br>1476<br>14633<br>14516Column 2 output sample:560 Hague Street LAVINGTON NSW 2641<br>449 Smollett Street ALBURY NSW 2640<br>601 Stanley Street ALBURY NSW 2640<br>599 Stanley Street ALBURY NSW 2640After this aggregator I am trying to send an email which includes a simple output body like: 20688 - 560 Hague Street LAVINGTON NSW 2641 1476 - 49 Smollett Street ALBURY NSW 2640 14633 - 601 Stanley Street ALBURY NSW 2640 14516 - 599 Stanley Street ALBURY NSW 2640Any ideas how to get it from the simple aggregator with these two outputs into an email?
Hi, I want to create a dynamic workspace. I have an excel file and I want to execute everything from there. I want to send database information for sqlexecutor via excel. but I couldn't find how to add format and dataset information. Is such a thing possible?
I work for a deck building company that consistently needs to find lot boundary markers, but due to lack of information sometimes we are unable to identify where the boundaries of a lot are. We are exploring and trying to find ways that we could easily find the part of the lot that is the physical boundary marker of the property. Assuming we are able to find longitude/latitude coordinates, we are looking for software that could allow us to enter that information in a smartphone in order to be guided to that point on a map on smartphone. Thanks for any input you may give!
Hi, I haven't used FME in quite a while due to the flu outbreak. I have FME 2017.1 and have found that it will no longer reach in to my SDE due to the Legacy deprecation from ESRI. Are there any transformers I can use in 2017 that I can use?
I would like to know if FME has a reader and writer that directly read and write data back to the ArcSDE database.
I was following this example to write/update the metadata from SDE.https://community.safe.com/s/article/working-with-geodatabase-metadata-writing-to-xml READER features: from SDEREADER metadata: from SDE WRITER: GENERIC (4 options: SHP, FGDB, DWG, KML) I was able to write both spatial features and their metadata to FGDB (using ArcGIS Catalog to view both features and metadata). But when I picked the output as Shapefile, the features were written out with a boundary (for lines, but not for points). E.g. I have a point file with 722 features it will be written as 722 features. If I write a line file with 1000 features then I will end up having 1001 because there is a boundary linework written as one of the spatial features. Also, the metadata wasn't included in the shapefiles (using ArcGIS Catalog to view). I try to narrow down the output by having a Shapefile writer only but the same problem persists. Anyone can shed me some light on this issue? Thanks.

I have to combine 30 sql tables into 1 while preserving globalID unique identifiers. These tables have slight differences in column names (i.e. GlobalID vs globalid or JobsiteGlobalID vs JobGUID). These need to be mapped during the insert. I want to be able to run this multiple times so I'm looking for an "if not exists" append transformer. Any recommendations? I've looked as FeatureMerger, but it doesn't seem to work with 30 readers. I've tried a simple append, but re-running causes issues.Thanks.
I PyhtonCaller that renames some feature classes/tables once they have been loaded to SDE database and checked using arcpyWhen I run the workbench on FME desktop I have not troubles, but when I publish the workbench to server the feature classes/tables can not be found. The Error is ArcGIS Pro: 000732: : Dataset does not exist or is not supported. As the arcpy works on my desktop, this would indicate that the paths are correct, but I may be missing something needed on our server. The environments areDesktopFME 2021.0ArcGis Pro 2.6.1Python 3.6.10FME ServerFME 2021.0ArcGis Pro 2.4.2Python 3.6.8 One of the paths is \\\\tnad.tasnetworks.com.au\\share\\Applications\\ArcGIS\\SDEs\\Dev\\BaseData_gisadmin_gisdbsdev1.sde\\BaseData.DBO.land_district Only difference between the paths is the feature class/table name and some have a Feature DatasetI have tried variation or relative and named paths and backslash forward slashesThe values are passed to the python from attribute values, so I don't
Hi,I am trying to complete this trail where it is requested to connect to a FME Server in order to upload the workspace. To try that I started a VM on stringo. But I dont know which FME Server Parameters I have to enter now to connect. Also I would like to access the web interface of the server in the VM but I didnt manage to login, maybe you can tell which login credentials are neccessary?Cheers,Merlin
I've just finished the Academy Exercise: Improving Workspace Style. In the tutorial, the supplied workbench included a Creator transformer that fed into a FeatureReader which references a geopackage Why is Creator used in this context? Why is this pattern used instead of using a GeoPackage Reader? I've read the doc page on Creator and searched for blogs but I haven't yet found anything that explains why Creators are used generally, or in a scenario like above specifically. Is there a link to some good explanatory documentation or training? Thanks
