I am having a simple workspace; just a reader and writer (see screenshot below).The FeatureReader reads from a Microsoft SQL Server Non-Spatial and the FeatureWriter writes to Microsoft SQL Server Non-Spatial. The datamodel in both databases is the same and in the target database the table already exists.When writing it to the database there are warnings about the field type. For example (see also screenshot below)Microsoft SQL Server Non-Spatial Writer: Attribute `.....' of feature type `.....' has specified type `varchar(1)', but existing database table field has type `varchar(2)'. Information may be lost during conversionIt seems to double all the varchars; and also getting messages about bigint vs numeric. The data is correctly written in target but I want to get rid of all the warnings. I have tried various thing with reading the schema from both the source and the target table. Also tried with 'normal' readers and writers. And also tried with JDBC reader and writer.Does anyone ha

Hi all, I am experiencing an issue with writing dynamically to SDE for large datasets (i’m unsure of the exact number, but above ~5000 features seems to cause a fail).  My flow reads in a dataset name from an SQL table, matches it to a dataset that has been downloaded as part of a previous flow, checks if it has been updated and if so drops and recreates the Feature Class using a name given in the SQL tables.When running the flow in batch using a Workspace Runner, ~half of my datasets ran successfully, and ~half failed to be updated in the SDE. I have looked into this is some depth and the only pattern I can see is the datasets that are failing are larger. The error message I am getting is below. I have tried using a sampler on the data just before the FeatureWriter and the flow works correctly, which validates my findings. We have several FME Server services that runs nightly to update hosted services. This all works well but every month or two the services all fail because they have lost their authentication to AGOL even though there were no account changes. I can re-authenticate the connection and then the services run for a month or two and then they lose their authentication again. Is there a way to set up the authentication so that they do not have to be periodically re-authenticated? Thanks in advance,David

A bit of a subjective question, but what are fast file-based geospatial data formats to read in FME?I have a set of geodatabases (10GB) covering the whole country, and it’s located locally on the C-drive of  the FME Flow server. Users specify a bounding box to extract the data for their area of interest.To make the current setup faster, I have played with indexes and made sure that I’m doing a bounding box intersect on the FeatureReader, etc. But it still takes at least 10-15 minutes to get the output.One other idea that I’m playing with is to use a different format for the source data instead of geodatabase. GeoPackage got a mention somewhere; FlatGeoBuf apparently is fast; and I have heard good stories about GeoParquet. Any other formats I should consider?Has anyone done any comparison on this? Any pitfalls / drawbacks I should be aware of?At the moment I’m looking more at file-based formats, as formats that require additional (database) software would involve IT too much.I will do t

After I finished the installation to 2024.2 (upgrading from 2023.1) I seemed to have the same issue as described in this post: So I followed all the suggestions in the Best answer by laurawatsafe.(I blured out url's and server names in my screenshots for privacy reasons)As described by laurawatsafe I ended up with both localhost and Serverhostname. In the screenshot below you can clearly see that at the moment after I stopped the Engines and was able to remove localhost, there were 0 standard engines assigned to localhost.So at this point I thought my problem was fixed. (I am wondering why this issue is in 2024.2 as it was fixed in 2018/2019. So this bug seems to have reappeared.)But now I have some very strange behavior in the interface:I tried to assign the two engines to my server, but after the delete action of localhost is shows 2/2 engines in use: This gives error: I end up with this:  When I sort on hostname on the Engines tab, there still seems to be a refference to localhost:

Out of the blue, I've started getting the below error message with my workspaces running on flow which talk to SharePoint: FME Flow error logI did some of my own digging, and found this community post:where the user had a similar issue. I have uninstalled my sharepoint package (1.1.6) and downgraded a version but it still doesnt work. I also upgraded it to 1.1.7 for good measure and that also didn’t fix the issue.  I am not downloading these packages directly off of hub because my install is on a remote server, so i have to copy the packages across before installing. I know partial installs can occur doing it like this, but error came out of the blue and I’m not sure why. There was an OS upgrade on the remote server prior to this, but if something was inadvertently deleted, I would have thought that reinstalling the package would restore what was missing. FME Server 2022.2.5Build 22795 - win64 Thanks :)    

Out-of-the-box, FME Flow has an admin login for administration (member of fmeadmin and fmesuperuser).As a measure of added security, can a different, less common, login name be used for administration? In other words, if I were to create a login for administration purpose named MickeyMouse, add MickeyMouse to fmeadmin and fmesuperuser roles, and disable admin, does that work? Are there gotcha’s with doing that? Is it a measure of added security?

Hi,I would like to setup a FeatureReader to read all the XML files in a onedrive folder.  My OneDrive (graph) connection works and I’m able to view the contents of my folder.  I am able to select individual files to read in the FeatureReader parameters but I want to be able to read all XML files.  How would I go about accomplishing this?  Thanks in advance.

We have recently upgraded FME flow to the latest 2023.2.2. I am having difficulty locating runtime errors for the job because when you click these runtime errors it will take you to the logs section where you have multiple logs. It's difficult to find which log file has this error. Previous versions directly took you to the error description while this version is not. Please guide me if I am doing anything wrong.Thank you,

Hi All, I’m trying to dissolve thousands of polygons from different feature classes into a single shape in FME. The idea is to obtain a single external boundary after merging/dissolving all the polygons. The current dissolve transformer gives me an error while trying to dissolve the polygons.Parameters in the dissolver are set to default.Is there any ‘hard dissolver’ option to merge the following?  Thanks :)

Before testing with an Excel sheet contaning GUID and properties to add, I just test to add manually a single property:First, I created 2 attributes:Then I used the GeometryPropertySetter:With the XQuery:I find my previous properties in the “Proprietes” Pset, but I don’t have the new one “TypeVitrage”. Hello community!I am working on an analysis to calculate the percentage of incline or decline from railway level crossings. This means the incline or decline along the road that crosses the railway.The desired result is six percentage values. Three for each side of the track (viewed in increasing kilometer (M-value)). The three intervals are 0-4.5 meter, 4.5-8 meter and 8-18 meter, measured from the outer edge of the railway track.It is desirable that the length is measured along the road.Decline from the level crossing should be shown as a negative percentage value, and incline as a positive percentage value. Based on the client's wishes, I have divided the analysis into smaller tasks:Add a property that shows whether the road lines are on the right or left side of the railway, viewed in increasing kilometer (M-value). The flow is running as expected also with expected outcome, but its giving this error - I have checked the updates is FME package but still not working.Not getting why this error is occuring. If anyone has any idea about it, kindly help. Thanks in advance.     

Basically here is the need: right now workbenches run (Using FME Desktop 2020.2 and Task Scheduler) and the email addresses are typed out within the Emailer Addressing "To" parameter.We would like things to be more easily updated. For example, if someone is no longer on the team, or if someone is new on the team, we would like to simply update a text file and ALL of our jobs will be updated. I tried reading the text file in, aggregating the addresses into one long string separated with a comma, but I wasn't sure how to assign the value to a User Parameter.(I tried a couple things and failed) Thanks in advance for your help.@danminneyatsaf​

I've been trying to formulate an efficient workspace that would:Extract feature service URLs from an excel sheet (many have the item ID number at the end)Download the GIS data from each feature serviceTransform the idea with typical cleaning upWrite out to a file GDB on a local server drive For steps 1 and 2, I've been experimenting with HTTPCaller and FeatureReader but haven't yielded a successful extraction yet. I think 3 and 4 will be straightforward, but if there any any suggestions (specifically with getting from 1 to 2) welcomed, and appreciate any feedback in advance!

Trying to free up some space on our existing FME Flow server and noticed that there is a folder on the root C: named “FME” that have various FME installations folders. In each of those folders, there is .cab and other installation (.msi, .exe, .log) files. The total file size of these folders is ~50GB on the server!I cannot find any documentation that states that is okay to remove these files.  Does anyone have any information about these?Thanks for any help!-Cameron

I am reading dynamic data and sometimes there is text fields that contain newline characters and I would like to replace them with just a space. How would I go about this?

Hey all,So I upgraded FME Desktop to 2024.1 (through ArcGIS Pro installation) and opened up an exisitng workspace I had created in a previous version. When it opens I get the message stating:Transformers are used that are not installed: 'CenterlineReplacer (version 6)'https://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME-Form-Documentation/FME-Transformers/Transformers/centerlinereplacer.htmWhy is this happening? I have no option to upgrade the existing transformer and it disappears from my workbench and when I try to search to add another ‘CenterlineReplace’ transformer, it is missing from the list.I have ran a repair on the installation but it is still missing.

Hi folks,I have multiple images I need to extract blob data for. When I input my individual feature types into the Raster Extractor (eg. 32 JPEGs, as shown in image below) the raster extractor seems to duplicate the first image for all of the feature types, so I end up with a blob of the first image for all of my individual feature types:This results in the first image duplicated, as a blob, for all 32 features - when I require a unique blob value for each input feature. The only workaround I’ve found is to have a raster extractor for each feature type, which is not suitable.Any help is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Aaron
