Geometry User Parameter: Configuration for Geometry Types are missing in FME Flow automations

Hi,

For user parameter Geometry in FME Form, you can configure what type of “selecting geometry” to allow under the GeoJSON Configuration > Geometry Types (Point, Box, Line, Polygon). But when I publish the workspace to FME Flow and set up the user parameters in Automations, the configuration for Geometry Types is missing for the Geometry User parameter.

For my example, I want only Point as a valid Geometry type for the Geometry user parameter. I publish the workspace to FME Flow with these settings and create an automation app with the same user parameters, but when I run the app the user can choose between all geometry types (Point, Box, Line, Polygon).

Hi @erik.ahlm

Automation Manual Triggers parameters, which are used for Automation Apps, do not currently let you restrict geometry like workspace user parameters, which are used for Workspaces Apps.

We have an issue filed internally for our product team to look at adding this functionality, if there is sufficient customer demand (The ID for reference is FMEFLOW-22473). I’ve noted this request on the issue.

I’m sorry I don’t have a solution for you at this time to limit geometry types on the Automation App UI.

Hi @erik.ahlm You are talking this option in when setting up the parameters right?

I do not think this is meant to be a choice in flow in the parameters when published. It gets “burned in” when published to Flow. Hope that helps.
Alternatively you could add a tester or filter in the workbench to remove other geometry types from the workbench.

oh I may have misunderstood. You are saying that you ONLY WANT POINTS to show up as choice. And in workbench the parameter is set up to only accept point. When published users can see all geometry types. What version of Form and Flow are you using? I am 2024.0.1 and set a geometry type parameter to geojson and point type, published made an app and only see the point as an option.

Thanks for your response.

Correct! I want only points to show as a choice for picking geometry.

Im using Form 2024.0 and Flow 2024.2.1.

When I create a workspace app, the user parameter configuration goes through and in the app only Point is available as choice.

But when I create automation app I cannot configure Geometry type in the manual parameters settings in my Automation, so the end result (app) all geometry choices are available.

Oh….let me test on my side. I just did the workspace app.

Hi @erik.ahlm I tried on my side. Can you share a screen cap of how you set up the Automation in Flow?
I tried setting up on my side and I do see the correct options when setting up the Automation using the workbench with Geometry param.
My guess is that the version difference between Form and Flow are presenting issues. (Not a great answer but might identify the confusing performance.)

Thank you, that could be a valid point. This is how it looks for me when I configure the geometry parameter. Backround info for the workflow: I want the user to enter a point in the map, then i convert the geoJSON response to coordinates and send through an email.

Setting up manual parameter from Manual Trigger action > Output attributes > Manual Parameters:

Setting up geometry parameter in Run a Workspace action > Parameters

Note! If i remove the user parameter, Im allowed to only choose a point (configurations from my Form workspace geometry user parameter)
