Hello,

I recently received a new fme flow 2024 from my IT department and something keeps failing when i run a large workspace(1096704 kB), i get no error but the workspace fails. This same workspace runs in fme flow 2023 without any problem.

Here are my system details,

FME FLOW 2023

System Status: 43.39 GB of disk space available in the FME temporary folder (C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\fmeengines\{enginename}_Engine1)

System Status: 30.00 GB of physical memory available

System Status: 126.00 GB of virtual memory available

FME FLOW 2024

System Status: 65.31 GB of disk space available in the FME temporary folder (C:\Windows\TEMP\fmeengines\{enginename}_Engine2)

System Status: 30.00 GB of physical memory available

System Status: 126.00 GB of virtual memory available

I have been reading around but i have not been able to pint out where the problem actually lies. How can i check for example how much memory has been allocated to an engine?Could it that i need to change the engine to use the temp folder as to a local user instead of the windows temp folder ?

Any ideas/solutions will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Bii.

Hello @j.botterill , thank you for the reply. i was able to find out the issue. the engine was running on a local user account with limited permissions, i changed the engine to a domain account and it worked, used this resource as a guide , https://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME-Flow/AdminGuide/Running_System_Services_Under_Different_Accounts.htm

Hi there, I’d have to ask why the large workspace, 1096704 kB… what's it trying to achieve? Can you provide an indication how many readers, transformer count and the writers feature types. Does the workspace run in Form and please provide the transaction log statistics on run time etc.

I suggest debugging in FME form https://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME-Form-Documentation/FME-Form/Workbench/running-debugging-workspaces.htm prior to trying Flow.

When the RAM runs out, FME will cache/write to disk. So you may want to move the Temp to an expansion disk with more space than 40GB… but without knowing what the workspace does, hard for me to understand if its the C drive that is running out of disk as the cause here https://support.safe.com/hc/en-us/articles/25407446479373-Setting-a-temporary-file-location-for-FME-to-use-via-the-FME-TEMP-environment-variable#:~:text=Setting%20FME_TEMP%20will%20force%20FME,not%20the%20user%20environment%20variables
