can we please have the ability to search for workspaces inside folders. this would make tracking rogue workspaces much easier.
It would be really, really helpful to be able to search inside log parameters or full body of the logs in FME server/cloud. In our setup we have many child jobs, if there are issues it is very challenging to track down the cause without been able to do more specific search or filtering. Would it be possible to have an elasticsearch service that indexes the logs and enables very quick search capabilities across the tens of thousands of logs we generate each week?
In the FME 2016, FeatureReader is added a parameter called "Max Feature to Read", This is very useful when test reader result, because you can set a smaller value (eg.10), so don't have to read all of the data can be test reader result.But such as in the Test directory with a.shp,b.shp,c.shp, specified in the Dataset to [Test *. SHP], this will only be able to read the a.shp's before 10 features, and need a lot of time in each file read before 10 features.So I hope as well as individual Reader, to add a "Max Feature to Read Per Feature Type" parameters to the FeatureReader.
There are a number of transformers, which even in FME Desktop 2020.2 still rely on Python 2.7. It was initially announced in 2008 that Python 2 would be sunsetted in 2015. A 7 year lead time. Then, in 2014 is was announced that the sunset would be changed to January 2020 - a whopping 12 years after the initial announcement. Many of our data science tools and external libraries that we wrap in for big data processing have, for some time, required Python 3 in order to operate and take advantage of all the interpreter and speed improvements (particularly with Cython, etc).Mixed Python versions are no longer acceptable. Please get the transformers etc upgraded, tested, and compliant with Python 3. At this stage, preferably with Python 3.9 or newer. Example: GZipDecompressorGZipCompressor
15 recent workspaces is sometimes just not enough. When I create a new one and copy paste parts from several other workspaces, together with all the active projects and the workspaces that I open to support others, I often end up navigitang in the file system instead of a single click becoause the workspace fell out from the last 15.Would it be possible to lift the restriction of the max recent workspaces at least? There is enough space in the monitor even for File/Open Recent (for me even 3 times that much without scrolling) but in the the Start tab list it is virtually unlimitzed.Ability to remove unnecessary items (eg. I opened accidentally, opened for explaining something, copying transformers from, etc) and pinnig to top/reordering would be also great.
Having some trouble downloading the contents of a remote FTP directory, keep getting error message 'Remote file not found'.It would be great if there was an option to 'Download Remote Folder' so that you could download a remote directory via FTP. Currently, FTPCaller only understands the instruction to download a specific file, which is a little problematic if there are hundreds of files within a directory and you want to download them via FTPCaller.@jlutherthomas
We use Kerberos as the primary authentication for our Data Lake. Our base software is Cloudera and we have used their HDFS JAR files but have not had luck connecting FME to it using the Apache Hive reader or the JDBC connector. In previous conversations with FME support, I was told that connecting via JDBC was not supported via Kerberos

A lot of people use this as default (Valid values range from 1 to 15. The default value is 12, which was the default fixed value for LandXML 1.1. A lower number of digits can dramatically reduce the size of the output file when writing a large number of coordinates.)
At the moment you can attach annotation by right click and select the attach type: transformer, link or feature type. It would make sense, if you could attach an annotation in the same way as you can connect transformers: drag and drop. Drag the annotation on top of a transformer, link or a feature type, and when dropped, the annotation is attached.Many times I want to duplicate an annotation to another transformer, but the new annotation is unattached, and I can't attach the new annotation fast.
Lets say I have locations of point/polygon features along a line and I would like to count the number of points along the line using a moving window. For instance I'd like to slide along the line using a window of 100 feet. As I move along the line, I want a count the number of points within the 100 feet window until I reach the end. Once the counts is done, I'd like to segment the line as well, based on the total counts within the 100 feet window.Any ideas and help on this will be greatly appreciated.
ambiguity is with using quotes to capture spaces and spaces to separate layers. but the norm is quotes to capture layers and commas to separate them.?in the FeatureReader while using autocad dwg (I think most any of the readers). trying to limit the features read to specific layers.It is VERY difficult to read/understand/code the layer list. In most of the other areas the syntax would be "layer name", "layername" However in this text dialog it is "layer name" layername anotherlayer "this layer" using quotes to capture names with spaces and spaces to separate layers! With hundreds or thousands of dwgs and perhaps as many as 30 layers i am trying to code
It would be nice if a single user could be a member of multiple FME Cloud accounts. Currently FME Cloud limits one account per email address (even if the email address is assigned as a user, and not an owner or administrator).

It will be great to expand AD support to LDAP support so that FME Server can talk to most any LDAP implementations out there, including OpenLDAP.
The default character encoding for the Text File Writer is currently set to UTF-8.It would be more straight-forward and logic if it were set to "System Default" as its default value. This has caused us some issues where it took time to discover this was the cause.
The four default ports, if not used, takes up extra space in the workspace. I want to be able to route them all to the <Unfiltered> port.<Empty><Missing><Null>To:<Unfiltered>
I am building a tool to allow my client to audit some files hosted in AGOL. It would be nice if they could change it dynamically, however the AGOL reader would not allow them to pick/ change feature services--aside form the first time when the tool is configured in desktop--or pass a feature service value as a parameter.Alternatively I tried using an feature reader-- which allowed me to pass the feature services as a value, but the problem here is that the feature reader doesnt allow to read attachments. I have included a picture of the feature reader to point out that there is no option to allow/ read attachments.

This means that Revit must be present and running. Vote for this idea if you'd like to have FME read RVT files directly. And vote for this idea if writing RVT directly from FME would be of interest.
DateTime with offset types are slightly different coming out of different kind of reades. Eg:SharePoint List Reader: '20200902084027+00'SQL Server * Reader datetimeoffset(0) type: '2020-10-21 06:33:30 +00:00'It would make life much easier if DateTime with offset types would come out of any reader in the same format, eg. FME datetime with offset ('20200902084027+00:00')They could be directly comparable after convertig to UTC without any other hack.
ArcGIS Image Server (current software, not the legacy one) isn't supported as an imagery source but given a connection to a portal with an Image Server the exportImage endpoint would be useful for elevation and general image sources.
OpenDRIVE is an open format specification to describe a road network's logic. Its objective is to standardize the logical road description to facilitate the data exchange between different driving simulators. Can FME add a way to convert traditional GIS vector data (shapefiles, geodatabases, etc.) to XODR?
This is a minor thing but would be pretty nice.I would like to see a shortcut key (hold shift) created to add transformers to a process as a parallel branch. Currently, adding a transformer to a series adds it between the two transformers. Dragging the connection isn't a big deal but it is quite annoying to me personally when I have a bunch of branches coming off a main process. ExampleWant to add a transformer as a 2nd pathConnected transformer with current setup adds in seriesNew function - Hold shift and drag transformer to connection node and it adds as parallel
After a recent FME webinar I posed the idea to the FME team during the webinar about accessing password protected zip files. For example if you receive or work with zip files that are stored in a common directory, or are sent to you via some mechanism, either email, or a sharepoint site, or some internal corporate drive location, or even google drive or dropbox, but for some level of security the zip file is password protected, I think there might be some appetite to streamline the process of accessing this data to update an organizations databases. Since the contents of the zip file are encrypted, it's not likely to go to ArcGIS Online as a open data source, but could ultimately make it's way into a ArcGIS Enterprise internal corporate portal. Being able to have a checkbox for password protection, should enable an entry box for password entry. Now the type of encryption options used, would be those supported by the common compression software, e.g. winzip, winrar and 7-zip at the very least, and yes when I state "zip" file, it should also include ".rar" and ".7z". Since there is no fundamental incompatibility that I'm aware of to incorporate this capability in FME, even at this point as an optional transformer for download in beta to see if there's a desire for full production release, I'm wondering if there is any appetite? Since FME can already read zip files and even KMZ, which is a zipped KML file, there should be no fundamental problem incorporating password access. Even incorporating secure authorized access via password authentication or digital signature of encrypted PDFs should be investigated. I'm sure Adobe would work with Safe, even though they might require some hefty licencing fees? Adobe tends to be very heavy handed with the user only using their tools and portals for digital secure authentication.
