It is easy to enable/disable a scheduled process in FME Server and I would like to see the same ability for notification. This means you would be able to disable a notification when it doesn't need to be used for whatever reason.
Ability to disable a publisher.This would be nice if you want to disable it on a test server when you move the project over to a production server and don't need the test one to keep running, but only to be there for future testing.
The Form Example in Developer Information (in Run Workspace) is quite basic. Every input in the sample HTML form is <input type="text">It would prefer to see a form sample where the type of the inputs reflect the public parameter type, eg:Date/Time: <input type="datetime"> or <input type="date">Integer: <input type="number">Password: <input type="password">Color Picker: <input type="color">Choice/Choice with Alias/Multiple: <input type="radio">, <input type="checkbox"> or <select> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option>... </select>In Choice/Choice with Alias it is also possible to expose all the options with both values and aliases from the Configuration of the ParameterNow you need to do it manually even it is basically an automatic (and boring) task.
***Note from Migration:*** Original Title was: Automatically disable the option redirect to FME data inspector when posting a Workspace to FME server. When you have a long chain of workspaces and you have updated a workspace at the beginning of the chain and saw in the datainspector all data is correct you will be blind to annything else and post it as soon as possible to the server. But after hours of waiting for the result you see the process went wrong because the data wasn't written.
Hello FME Community: My suggestion is to provide the ability to send one e-mail notification listing all failed workspaces on daily bases. This will help admin to pick up what failed with a quick glance at a single e-mail message. Example: jobs A,B,C,D, and E are scheduled to run daily If jobs A,C, and E fail --> send a single e-mail stating that jobs A, C, and E failed.
I stumbled upon this today again, wishing the option existed, because I'm a bit tired of specifying @LowerCase(myAttr) = 'myvalue' (or something like that) every time.So I'm bringing it up as an 'official' idea this time: I would love a Match Case option for all transformers that deal with attribute testing. This includes the ones in which you can set conditional values.It could look something like this:When checked (=default), it behaves the same as it would do now: it checks for the exact same string as the user entered. When unchecked, it ignores the case, so that 'MYVALUE' or 'myvalue' would also match 'myValue', for example. Naturally, the setting would be ignored if the Mode is set to Numeric.PS: @lars_de_vries also posted this idea earlier, which is similar but applies to the Joiner only.
With the DEBUG option in FME Desktop on, the log file will contain a number of additional information lines.That can be very helpful in solving issues.But it will also contain some additional errors that can cause customers to panic.I spend almost a day explaining to a customer (who had the debug option on) that this could be ignored if the workspace does not fail:BADNEWS: File D:FMEDesktopmetafileMULTI_WRITER.fmf could not be opened (tabrdr.cpp:161)It would be great if the messaging could be cleaned up, so unneeded messages do not appear.
Add an option to the FME Server Web Interface where you can point to a customized connection storage location (as in FME Desktop)

In FME Server (2016.1) it is easy enough to manage named database connections. The capability exists on the "Manage Database Connections" page to create a new connection and edit an existing connection.However, the same cannot be said for named web connections. The only current capability on the Web Connections page is to remove an existing connection. There is no support for editing existing connections or adding new connections.This problem is compounded by the fact that there is no simple way to sync connections between FME Desktop and FME Server (See my other post: Easy upload of named connections from Desktop to Server).I would like to see support for named web connections improved in FME Server.
I'd love to see FME have the ability to push modules/custom transformers/bookmarks up to the server that automatically gets copied to all workbenches on the server containing that module. If you could create a bookmark in the usual way and then save it as a module. Then on the push select if you want to push the entire workbench to the server or just individual modules. That way if you have lots of shared functionally between workbenches you can push to all the FME workbenches in one hit rather then making multiple small changes.We have multiple complicated workbenches that share functionality but wouldn't want to have just one workbench doing everything due to unwanted complexity. However, ensuring bug fixes and small changes are equal across all the services can be painful. If this could be put in place along with a more GIT based versioning system FME server would be a lot easier to work with.
Hi,The current state of the UI in Knowledge Center is broken, imho.For some reason, "All" always means all Safe posting first, regardless of relevance and creation/update date.And if one chooses filtering "Ideas" or "Questions" (why not checkboxes to see both??), one always (and only) get them sorted as "Updated". If I afterwards choose e.g. "Votes", I go back to "All".It used to work differently, if my memory serves.Please fix this, or specify how to make it work (I'm using Firefox).Cheers

I'm currently using the "SQL To Run After Write" option to specify a script for creating a spatial index based on the bounding box of the features written.It uses e.g. "geometry::UnionAggregate([SpatialColumn]).STEnvelope().STPointN().STX" to get the coordinates of the envelope of all features in the newly written table.Why not have the MSSQL_SPATIAL writer do this automatically using a third spatial index option for geometry data?
I'm running a workspace that collects some 12 feature layers from a couple of WFS services on a daily basis. Whenever the services don't respond properly, I get a "ows:ExceptionReport", typically "Unable to obtain connection".However, the log file doesn't tell me what feature layer failed. It tells me it fetched the capabilities document, and it tells me it fetched the "DescribeFeatureType" document, but not what feature type it concerned.I think it would be beneficial - and a fairly small issue - to enhance the WFS Reader logging to include this important tidbit: the name of the feature layer that prompts a connection exception.Cheers
Currently FME uses GPSBabel in the background to handle GPS data and convert it. Unfortunately, GPSBabel only supports *.an1 drawing files but we have *.an2 files. Is there any way to utilize the readers and transformers, or possibly create a new reader/writer, so we can get these files in ESRI shapefile format?
OGC Geopackage seems promising format for sharing and editing spatial data. FME (2016) is now supporting its core geometry types, but it would be good if FME would support also its additional geometry types (including arcs) as described in Geopackage standard: http://www.geopackage.org/spec/#extension_geometry_types
Right now the Autodesk Civil 3D reader in FME 2018 doesn't support Assembly and Subassembly entities:AutoCAD Reader: Entity type of 'AeccDbAssembly' found, but not supported. flux.io is a cloud based collaboration framework that connects a variety of design tools together. It could be very interesting to have FME be able to both send updates to and apply updates from that framework.
A customer asked us about a possible new option for the ShortestPathFinder. The option would assume you are sending multiple from-to lines in a specific order to the ShortestPathFinder. Once any path is output, any segments along that path would have their costs set to zero for any subsequent from-to path calculations.Or maybe there is another algorithm we should be looking at to create optimum cost paths for shared routing along a cost network? Comments and suggestion welcome!With the proposed option enabled in the image below, the route to end #2 would follow route #! since its path would have set those segments to cost 0. (Note: should also work in reverse, if ends #1 and #2 are staring points)
