I have a workspace which uses input user credentials to do stuff. I also want the workspace to work during testing by using System environment variables. This is working great for things like DBNAME, HOST, PORT etc where the user inputs are strings (text user parameters). I can simply just enter in ${PORT} for example and FME will look for a set environment variable. Where I'm having trouble is with the password. I can't do the same thing for the password so I've created a simple scripted parameter which first checks if there is a user password set and if not try and see if there is an environment variable. In most cases it works well, however, I've discovered that some special cahrachters are getting encoded by FME - So something like @ becomes '<at>'. Does anyone know a way to 'decode' these encoded strings. Ideally it'd be done in the scripted parameter, however, if it has to be done in the workspace so be it.Short from using some kind of regex in a string replacer I'm a bit s
Hi I have a lot of small geotif tiles. I need to mosaic them together as geotif in specific zones. I tried the standard compression which is jpeg. The problem is that some zones are to large for the compression method. I get this error: "GEOTIFF writer: Failed to write the output file using JPEG compression. The raster is being written with a tile size of '29005' rows by '82874' columns, whereas the maximum number of rows or columns that JPEG compression can handle is 65500. Please reduce the tile size if writing a tiled file, or reduce the size of the raster" So I'm thinking I only need to change the compression method. I tried all the other compression methods and I always get the same warning: "GEOTIFF writer: Existing value for creation option 'INTERLEAVE' was 'BAND'. Overwriting with the new value 'PIXEL'GEOTIFF writer: Existing value for creation option 'COMPRESS' was 'NONE'. Overwriting with the new valu
Basically I need to create new edit version from sde.default and need to compare one arcsde geodatabase layer(copy layer) to another layer (source layer). Any changes in the source layer will be written to the copy layer. Copy layer is a versioned layer and the source layer is not versioned.
I remember a demo/webinar about FME Server showing workspaces exploding in VR/AR - but can`t seem to find it. Anyone?
Hi All,I'm trying to read a MicroStation v8 dgn into FME Desktop 2020.1 and most of it is coming through fine, but some line strings which are classed as dimensions are not coming through successfully. Here is the dgn file (note the element type is dimension, why I don't know!): And this is the output i get when reading in FME:Instead of the line I get a point and part of an arrow but that's it. No pertinent warnings and no errors at all, any ideas what I might be doing wrong (other than asking the CAD person to redo all of the leader lines)?Dan
HelloIs there any experience or feedback using FME (including fms server) in conjunction with a classical SAP bi architecture where the database house is BW4hana. For the front end part we use Sap analytic cloud. Thanks for all information or tips and trick
I'm looking for documentation going over how FME Desktop checks out an ESRI license. So lets say we have 10 standard ESRI licenses in our license pool. Then one user has ArcMap/ArcPro open, taking up one of the 10 and leaving us with 9 licenses available. If FME Desktop was ran with ArcMap/ArcPro open, would FME take up one of the available licenses, or does it just need to verify the license is valid? Would we still have 9 ESRI licenses available or 8? **I'm also only referring to workspaces that actually require an ESRI license I've reviewed this page, but wanted to be sure I'm understanding how it works with the ESRI licensing.https://community.safe.com/s/article/required-arcgis-license-types-for-fme-geodatabase
i have big workspace and i would like to devide it to two workspaces so i want to put readers , inputs at first workspace then connect them to the second workspace .readers oracle spatial and non spatial How could i achieve that ? thanks in advanceFME 2018
Hi We fly over cities with a lidar. So we have multiple las files of a city. Because they don't start and stop on the city boundary we need to clip these files. It's a super simple workbench, but it runs for 8 hours on average. Depends on the city offcourse. I think it has a 50% chance of succes. We get 2 types of errors. The first one that says there isn't enough disk space or we don't have the right privileges. The other one is that one of the files could not be written because the data is corrupt. Altough if we don't change anything and run it again it completes with succes. So we don't know what the actual problem is, maybe the network... So If we don't know how to solve that, we can at least try to get a better chance of succes. Would it be quicker to first select the files that actually intersect with the city boundary and only send those through the clipper? (Files that are completely withing the boundary doesn't need clipping). At the moment I

Hello FME'ersHere is the weekly roundup of FME news. Community Activities: NOW LIVE!In case you weren't aware, we are improving connections in our community with a series of ongoing events - and the first of these is now LIVE! There will be a webinar and blog to cover all of the events, but for now, be aware that an FME Geoguessr group is now live. Geoguessr is a game of geography, where you are "dropped into" a location and asked to guess where it is. Then you get a summary of your results, with how far away you were: To play regularly you need a paid Pro account. BUT... for this coming month, we've purchased a group subscription. This means up to 30 FMEers can join our group and play for free! To do so, go to Geoguessr and create a free account. Then visit my profile and add me as a friend. I'll add you to the FME group and you should be good to use Geoguessr as much as you want for the coming month. Be sure to add other FME users as friends so you can c
We have dozens of FME 2020 workspaces that use this capability that are now failing in FME 2021 because the parameter is not available to the Python Caller.
As per the title, what does the FME Hub TestSuite for custom transformers do? The only documentation i've found is here, and basically says it runs on an Linux Envhttps://community.safe.com/s/article/fme-hub-best-practices-and-guidelines Is there any more information that can be shared on how the transformers are tested, what (data) is used to test them? EDIT: Just re read that page and it says it runs a Test Workbench that is supplied. So is that all that it does? As a user, is there visibility of these test workbenches? In some instances it would be helpful to see how the transformer is being used
Can you update the attributes of a feature without having to upload the geometry to a AGOL hosted feature service? For example, we have a feature service with about 80 features where the geometry for each feature is huge. We want to do daily updates to the attributes and the geometry never changes. There is a work around where you have a non-spatial table and use hosted dynamic joins, but is a little awkward.
Hello, i got this issue when using heightmaps (REAL32), they seem to not have the same range / offsets in each map, look at the example below. there are 4 maps, which should tile, but doesnt. Is there someway to remap each maps data to the same ranges? any ideas? or should i just request a new set of data?
I have a test environment so the data included in this workspace is just test data. I get the data via a http-caller. If I save "_result_body" with a JSON Writer and use feature reader to read in the saved json file I can get the polygons with no problem. But this wont work for me, I need to be able to directly interpret the response I get from the http-caller. I been hacking away for two days now and I just wont work. So its best to ask for help, and also some general tips on how I should interpret the response body. I read some tutorials about JSON and GeoJSON but those examples are not near as complex as this one is. I included a workspace where I created the response-body as an attribute if someone wants to push me in the right direction it would be nice. And another question. The data should appear in Sweden. But looking at the individual cordinates it looks odd, and the response from the http caller didnt include any info about the coordinate system. Maybe I didnt fill
To make matters worse, the extended data need a certain form (for example "CODE 1004 - Binary Data").I have already found some impulses in the forum (autocad_extended_data_list {}), none of which helped me to solve the problem.Does anyone have any ideas or food for thought from you? Many greetingsMartin
hello, i would like to run several python scripts, using the arcpy library inside FME, what have i done so far? I just created published parameters and insert the values of the variables I need, but I'm not able to execute. See attached log. What do I need to set up correctly?
Hello, my team uses a solution called Sitetracker that works on top of Salesforce. I'd like to read data from Sitetracker and also write to it. In my FME Desktop workspace I tried adding a Reader. In the Add Reader dialog, I set:Format = "Salesforce" Dataset = URL of our Sitetracker instance "https://<companyname>.lightning.force.com/"In the Salesforce Parameters dialog I set:Host = URL as aboveUser = username of our service accountPassword = password of that service accountSecurity Token = security token provided by SalesForce emailTable List = "Quality__c" manually typed, as the ellipses show it to be stuck on loadingWhen I try clicking on the Table List ellipses, they get stuck on the Loading dialog as per this screenshot:If I manually type the name of our custom entity "Quality__c" into the Table List, then I can click "OK" on both dialogs. If I use the URL prefixed with "https://", I get it hanging like this: If I use the URL without that prefix, I successfully can create t
My question is similar to this one, except I need to get it working on FME Server: https://community.safe.com/s/question/0D54Q000080hOreSAE/loop-through-multiple-choice-user-parameter I cannot use a Workspacerunner in FME Server to run the entire script for each of the user parameters selected. Is there a way to allow a FME Server script to be run for each of the user parameters provided? There may be 1 or 8 user parameters for which the script needs to be run...
I have the following. Reading an XML file then assigning its geometry and an SDE connection. When the comparison happens with the change detector it keeps repeating an update. Even though the geometry hasn't changed. The output of the change detector list: both are empty no spaces/tabs or anything of that nature. I can't even find where to set geometryObject or remove it. fme_geometry appears to be correct.
Hi FMEers,Back in 2014 I wrote a couple of blog posts about tips and tricks for FME: https://www.safe.com/blog/2014/08/fmeevangelist127/https://www.safe.com/blog/2014/10/fmeevangelist128/ Now it's time to update my list to 2021. So what tips and tricks for FME in 2021 would you suggest? Are they the same as 2014? To me, FME is more mature and there aren't as many "tricks". And FME Server tips are becoming more dominant. Am I wrong? So let me know what you think in the comments below - and maybe you'll get your contribution mentioned in the new blog posts. Cheers Mark
Hi everyone, I'm struggling with the PointOnAreaOverlayer transformer. For some reason the transformer is not finding a spatial relationship when there clearly is one. My workspace starts out with two SQL-creators (one with geometry and one without geometry) that I merge based on a matching attribute. This works as expected. Next I filter the merged dataset based on a numeric value. After this I use a Shapefile reader and the aforementioned PointOnAreaOverlayer to count the number of points inside the shapefile polygons. No matter what I try, the results show there are no points intersecting the polygons. I've so far checked if the FeatureMerger is merging the geometry, which it is. Checked if all the inputs are in the right projecten, which they are. I am using user parameters to set the filter range and to set the overlap count attribute of the PointOnAreaOverlayer. Next are a few screenshots to further explain the situation. I hope you can help me with this. As you can see,
I used fme desktop 2019my source data is fgdb with 104,073,607 (104 million +)featuresorg table shows 104073607 but only 80,900,000 records processed.there is no transformers between , reader is fgdb and writer is oracle spatial data. dont know , where was the issue. This is a silent failure of fme.no error msg. after writing the checked the counts, it was less. then i splitted the fgdb files into two part(using arcmap)then im fine. how to fix this issue? Please
