SDE Versioned Edits - INSERT vs. UPDATE

I have inherited some older workbenches/server workspaces and am noticing some issues with writer parameters, specifically where ArcSDE connections are concerned. For examples, I found that "accidentally" saving an old FMW in FME 2018 Desktop when the FMW leveraged fme_where without the explicit setting in the WHERE field, wreaked havoc by turning some updates into inserts. I have fixed that by cleaning up the workspace.1) Now, I'm looking at a workbench that is doing versioned editing in SDE and has the Writer set to 'INSERT' and 'CREATE IF NEEDED'. Yet it's doing updates. How is that possible - what am I missing?

Formatting the resulting interval (ISO Duration)

Hi,I am currently calculating date time intervals via the DateTimeCalculator that result is ISO Duration format (PT28M20S for example)I would like to format the result into a FME datetime but havent found a way to do it with the DateTimeConverter. I can split the value into its parts and then combine them but there should be an easier way...I am surprised that FME doesn't recognize and can parse this date time notation, after all FME is producing it....Using FME 2019.2.0.0 build 19801Could be I am missing something, any assistance would be appreciated.Cheers,Itay

DBF reader problem with Character Encoding

I am able to open a dbf with excel with no prompts, and with libreoffice it prompts me to use Arabic (ibm864) coding and then opens fine. But when I specify that with FME, the table is scrambled. Sorry - I tried to upload it but dbf are not allowed.

compare field attributes (of same table)

Hello,I would like to compare two attributes of the same table: e.g. a table of features with the following attributes: UID, old name, new name.I would like to know for which features the old name is the same as the new name and identify the features whose name has changed. Afterwards I would like to create new tables for all (and only) these features whose name has changed, one with the UID and the old name and one with the UID and the new name.Which transformers should I use ?Thanks for you help!

Line extender with different length each side?

Hello! After trying different options with LineExtender, Snipper, PointonAreaOverlayer, I don't get the result I want. What I want: to be able to extend a line with an attribute. However, this value is different for each side of the line. Vertices on each side of the line contain this information for the particular side. How do I get this to work? Thanks a lot!!! Stay safe!

Creatig arc with pythoncaller

Hi everyone, I'm trying to create polygons with arcs (airspace) from aixm 4.5 data. I found this extremely useful workspace from @takashi i here: https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/56273/how-to-create-a-good-geometry-with-coordinates-xy.htmlbut I'm having troubles with the pythoncaller to create arcs. While it works pretty well on some data subset (ead_identifier contains _EI) for others I get a "math domain error"(ead_identifier contains _EG) and I can't figure out why.Any help would be appreciated

MSWORD Writer: Is there a way to control Paragraph Spacing?

Hello,FME 2020.0.1.0 build 20218 Win64I'm trying to create MS Word documents with the MSWORD writer. Everything is good for now, except Paragraph Spacing.Usually we prefer to set "Compact" or "No Paragraph Space" in any documents, but the MSWORD writer seems to always set "Open".-- from a web page in the Microsoft siteI know that the Paragraph Spacing setting in the base document would be propagated to the destination document if you set the Base Document parameter in the writer, but in the current project I don't want to use a base document.Is there a way to control the Paragraph Spacing without using Base Document?

Reading BLOBs from Access DB

Hi,I have attachments (pdf, jpg, doc, txt) which are stored in Access DB as BLOBs.I tried to use template from link below to extract files. Files have been exported but I cannot open any of them. Except of *txt or *doc where I have only a binary information, like "4D5343..."https://hub.safe.com/publishers/safe-lab/templates/read-blobs-from-a-database-and-write-out-files In AttributeFileWriter I used 'Binary (fme-binary)' encoding for JPGs and 'UTF-8' for txt, doc and pdf.For JPGs I tried also use a RasterReplacer (JPEG format) to decode a binary attribute, but all records were rejected.I'm using FME 2019.1 What am I missing? oriented 2D grid for a line

hey i am trying to do a 2D grid that is originated on the same angle of a line as an input feature,while i could do distance chopper on the line and an oriented boundary box, this doesn't give me the control i require to maintain the same polygon size. the 2D grid creater allows me to define the cell size within the grid but doesn't allow me to orientate it to the input featuremaybe i could do a start point, end point of the input feature, then draw a line, get the angle and rotate the grid? the challenge with this approach is that the line is not straight, so the grid needs to follow the line and not just the start and end pointsany advise would be grandmany thanksJames

Find parallel lines and points but exclude crossing lines

Hello Community, My goal is to find parallel lines (green) and the dots (5 points) of line (1). Line 1 and A,B,C and D belong to the same type in my dataset. A,B,C and D are almost at an angle of 90 degrees of line 1, sometimes it can even be 45 degrees; it's variable. If I use a bufferer all blue lines are processed. How can I exclude the A,B,C and D lines from processing?Greetings.

alternative for ArcGIS command "Spatial Join" in FME?

Hello, I'm looking for an alternative to the ArcGIS command "Spatial Join" in FME. Important for me is the matching option "WITHIN_A_DISTANCE_3D".My goal is to determine the number of neighboring points in a space from each point of a point cloud (and write it into an attribute of the point. In ArcGIS I would use the following command arcpy.SpatialJoin_analysis("powerline_01", "powerline_01", "e:\LAS\powerline_10m_DIST.shp", "JOIN_ONE_TO_ONE", "KEEP_ALL",""", "WITHIN_A_DISTANCE_3D", "10 Meters", "DIST_10m")Unfortunately, I have found only similar transformers in FME, which do not work in space, but only 2D. For me it is not interesting which point is closest to the origin, but the number of points within a space. Thanks a lot for any advise

Hi, I´m currently setting up a custom Python interpreter for FME Server 2020.0I have installed a custom Pyhon installation and added a packge to it. I´ve also runned the following commands with administrator privileges in command prompt:"C:/Program Files/FMEServer/Server/fme/fme.exe" APPLY_SETTINGS SYSTEM "Python/Use Custom Python" true"C:/Program Files/FMEServer/Server/fme/fme.exe" APPLY_SETTINGS SYSTEM "Python/Python Interpreter" "path_to_pyhon_folder/python37.dll"When I run my workspace that uses Python I get:The PYTHONHOME for the user-specified Python interpreter is not set through FME Options or a PYTHONHOME environment variable. On my local computer I can set the PYTHONHOME-parameter under Tools-FME Options...But what is the command to set this parameter on FME-Server?The documention only covers the two commands I've already runed.

Data (X Format) to Azure SQL

Hello, I have an XML file (consists of 300+ entities) that I wish to insert to Azure SQL, thus creating 300+ tables. When inserting data to Azure (contrary to SQL Server) you must specify a primary key or a clustered index. I know this type of functionality is feasible by changing the attributes of the Writer at the Index column. However, doing this for 300+ tables manually, is not sustainable. Dynamic writer was not able to assist either. My other thought is to read as merged dataset, create a uuid and then using SQL Executor assign this attribute as a clustered index in every table? In this case, will the Writer be able to pick up this automatically? Other suggestions are much appreciated. Kind regards, George

I'm trying to read in JSON file. It has ANSI encoding. The reader throws an error:"A JSON syntax error was found at line 1, column 49. A sequence of bytes was found which is invalid in the UTF-8 encoding."Is it possible to get around this?

Dynamic writer for file geodatabase on multi feature type source

I have a workspace that I'd like to dynamically write different output formats to: shp, sqlite, fgdb, and AGOL. I have no problems doing it for shp and sqlite but when it comes to fgdb I’m having an issue.One of my data sources - features - has multiple destination feature classes by featureClasssName attribute. The attribute schema for all features are the same but their fme_geometry are different.That is where my problem lies with the file geodatabase api writer.If I make it dynamic, the feature type name parameter changes to default fme_feature_type. If I uncheck the box for dynamic, I can use the featureClassName attribute as feature types parameter but there is no dynamic geometry parameter.Most of the samples of using feature type schema mapper samples I’ve found show single geometry. I’ve attached my workspace template here in case someone wants to take a stab at it. Screenshot of wokspace is below.Any suggestions or links to community page are appreciated. Thanks!

Hi All,How to develop a tool that can be plugged into Cityworks map viewer to display an AutoCAD file format (*.dwg)?For example, we managed to develop a tool and plug it into Geocortex viewer so that end user can upload an AutoCAD file format and get it displayed into the viewer as shown in the screenshots below. The FME desktop and server capacity (creating workbench and publishing it) is used to develop the tool with particular configuration at the level of Windows (operating system) and Geocortex.Currently, we are trying to develop the same tool (displaying AutoCAD file format) and plug it into Cityworks map viewer. Is this something we can perform with the capacity of FME Desktop\\Server or an API Javascript code as it has been successfully completed for Geocortex viewer? Thanks In advanceLubna

Help with understanding Network Flow Orientor

Hello everyone.I work with sewer programs, and found that working with NetworkFlowOrientor can be very helpful in ongoing work.The purpose for which I use NetworkFlowOrientor is to find mistakes made during autocad typing.As we know, sewage flows gravitationally so it is important that the beginning of the line be in the high sewer pit and the end point will be in the low sewer pit.When I work with NetworkFlowOrientor I put the sewer line in line port, And in destination the layer of sewer pits.When I check the result coming out in GIS, most of the lines that needed to be flipped were flipped.But about 20% reversed incorrectly.I guess the problem is in my file, I guess in the sewer pits layer.So I would like to understand the nature of the NetworkFlowOrientor well.And here's a small example of him turning the line the wrong way.The arrow indicates the flow direction, here in the original file. Matching Values Between Attributes

Hi All,Not to be hyperspecific but i'm trying to match phase values between two attributes on the same feature. I have an electric transformer with a phase value, and I've joined the phase value of it's connected electric cable to the same feature. The phase values can be any combination of A,B, or C. For example, the electric transformer might have a value of AC, and the cable it's joined to has a value of ABC. I'm trying to find a way to test if the phase values of the transformer are contained within the phase values of the cable. I've tried setting up a tester and matching XFMRPhase - IN - PrimaryPhase, the inverse of that. I've tried removing the commas and testing the same. I've tried testing XFMRPhase - LIKE - PrimaryPhase and I keep finding results that don't match. For example, i'll find a transformer with phasing ABC, primary cable with phasing ABC as unmatched. I'm not sure what the best way to tackle this would be, but a nudge in
