How to trace downstream in the network with multiple sources and accumulate the value from the intersected nodes of each trace? To Illustrate please see below. Black circles are the starting points.  Appreciate your help.

Is there any way to get the “path” of a transformer so that it can be reported for a custom error logging solution. The standard FME log file has this information but I can’t find any way of getting at it inside a workspace.For example, in the image below we can see log lines being reported from a ParameterFetcher transformer which is inside the Log_Error custom transformer.  If I could even just get the name/instance of the custom transformer that would be helpful but something really useful would be to have access to the <prior> transformer.I’ve seen some other posts on this topic which talk about hard-coding log messages but it would be nice to have a more automated approach and those posts are all from before Safe changed the way log files work to include the links to the transformers….I guess what I’m really looking for is access to something like the FME equivalent of a stack trace from any point within a workspace.

I’m creating an automatic process to read in data in a feature reader and then output same attributes in the same order that they were read in, to an oracle spatial writer.I have set up user parameters in the FeatureReader for both the data to be read in and attributes to expose(.csv) however the order of attributes is not retained and neither is the data type. Currently, the attributes are alphabetised and they are all given the same data type of “varchar2”.Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.

I am trying to figure out how to parameterise the layer name for a Portal Feature Service reader. In the screenshot below you can see the highlighted Layer Name field. However it does not seem to have the ability to set it as a user parameter. You can see it is possible to set other layer variables as parameters, eg Input Geometry Type, etc. Just wondering how I might do the same for the layer name?

Hello everyone,I already looked at the following post, but this post is already 6 years old. Myself I don't have any experience with the the FMEServerJobSubmitter and I was wondering if there are other ways to pass the job-id from one workspace to another workspace in an automation.  I tried using the automation writer as a method to pass a job-id from one workspace to another workspace, but that doesn't seem to work, the job-id is empty in the second workspace.

Hello, i saw this in FME documentation :“...The ACAD format writer will look for custom hatch patterns in custom <filename>.pat files located in folder specified by the ACAD operating system environment variable, or in the related folder for any installed AutoCAD product.The REALDWG format writer will look for custom hatch patterns in custom <filename>.pat files in the <FME install folder>/plugins/realdwg/Support folder. Predefined patterns can be found in the acdb.pat file in that folder, and additional patterns can also be added to that file.” The Autodesk AutoCAD DWG/DXF Writer is fine : i get custom hatch patterns in my dwg file. (didn’t try REALDWG Writer)But when i use the Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D Object Data Writer, i get the warning :“AutoCAD Writer: The combination of pattern type 'Custom-defined' and pattern name 'MYHATCH' was found to be invalid. Using a default predefined hatch pattern of value of 'SOLID'” How are custom hatch patterns managed in this case

I am trying to set up a process that downloads new zip files containing shapefiles from a Google Bucket. The bucket contains four folders at the top level and in each of those folders are folders for individual project areas. In those project folders there are mp4s, pdfs and zip files with the shape files. I would like to just download those zip files, and keep them grouped by project, and none of the others every time the flow is triggered. So far I have figured out out how to list the files and filter out everything else not a zip file. The list is great but I want to download them and not just list them. This is my first time working with Google Cloud Storage buckets. 

I have a workspace in 2023.2.1 that is writing to ArcGIS Portal. What I am finding that in some cases the original layer that is in portal had spaces in the layer name i.e. Layer Name. When it is written to Portal either FME or Portal replaces the spaces and with underscores i.e. Layer_Name and when I try to update it, FME can’t find the layer as it is looking for the original name with the spaces. The only attribute that is available is fme_feature_type or my user parameters.  Is there a way to create a parameter prior to both of these writers that replaces the spaces with underscores and is then available to the FeatureWriter layer name attribute?

I have a Microsoft Access Database Table. I need to delete all the records in it and just keep the schema. Basically, the output will be an empty table. There are 10,000 records in the table. Delete all records in Table A. Table A will be empty. Just keep the Table A schema. I know I can use the SQLExecutor with a SQL Statement to do this, but how to do this using Transformer(s)?  What is the best way to go about this?

We use Azure Entra ID (formerly known as Azure Active Directory) with FME Flow to login the application.So now we have two methods: 1. user name and password2. button "Sign in with Microsoft"My colleagues often use the first method, which does not work for them.I set up the system events to notify me when a login is failed. But now I would like to know who tried and failed to login. Is there a log that shows the username someone used to try to login? Does anyone know which logfile it is in?ps it would be nice if I could hide the first login method. But that method is used by the admin-account. So I guess that is not an option.

I am trying to intersect 3D Polylines and Solid Cubes to determine which cubes are touching the polylines.So far I tried Clipper, intersector, SpatialRelator and SurfaceOnSurfaceOverlay. All the features are ending in the rejected port as invalid geometry.What is the right way to accomplish this task?

Hi Everyone,I have created a Server App (as admin) and gave an active directory account a right to run it (please, see attached)Then, using app's url I log in as myself (dshatilov) and run the app. I thought it would run the job (the workspace) as dshatilov, but yet it runs it as admin. Is there a way to fix it? What I am trying to achieve is to be able to run a server app as an active directory user and automatically extract user's name, so I could send the results back to a user without asking him or her to type in an email address.When I log in as myself to the FME server and run the workbench from there, it runs it as dshatilov and sends the results back to my address, but when I run the server app, it doesn't. 

I have a problem. First my FME: It is partly in Dutch, but it doesn't matter here. It is about spatial data with some features. There are two feature readers: the first one to select features which fall within a pre-defined contour, the second to select features. The attribute manager to add some attributes. The featurewriter to write the data in gdb format. In the FeatureReader you can see attributes for “pand_v” and for “scheiding_v”. The attributes of “scheiding_v” are standard, hence the same for other features, except for “pand_v”. The difference is that in “pand_v” BGTPlusType is replaced by “identificatieBAGPND”. The features are of several geometric types: lines, polygons and points.In the output of FeatureWriter all the attributes as given in the AttributeManager are shown. I'd like to see that for “pand_v” no BGTPlusType is given (there is no value here) and that for all other features no “identificatieBAGPND” is shown. And that some other attributes like fme_…, attribute{}…,

 Hi ,I'm building a workspace in FME where I need to copy multiple tables from an SDE geodatabase to a File Geodatabase (GDB). I use an Excel file to map the source and destination table names.Excel structure:Tablename Destination SDE_TABLE_1 GDB_TABLE_1 SDE_TABLE_2 GDB_TABLE_2  Workflow: I read the Excel file using a FeatureReader to get the list of tables. For each row, I use another FeatureReader to read the source table from the SDE using the Tablename attribute. I then use a FeatureWriter, setting fme_feature_type to the value of the Destination attribute so it writes to the correct table name.   The problem:The destination tables are created with the correct names in the GDB, but they do not contain any attributes from the source tables only OBJECTIDs. What am I missing here? My tables are in Excel and will be dynamic, so I can't simply explode all attributes manually.I have a solution using a PythonCaller, but I'm interested in a more native solution using FME transfo

In FME 2025.0, it was mentioned that the IFC API Reader was updated to support reading IfcOpeningElement. However, in the latest version, 2025.0.3, the IfcOpeningElement feature still cannot be read. No matter what reader parameter options I adjust, it does not work.I have tried checking or unchecking the "Advanced - Subtract Opening Geometry" option in the reader settings, but that didn’t solve the issue. I have also tested several IFC versions, including IFC 2x3, IFC4, and IFC4x3_ADD2, but the IfcOpeningElement is missing in all of them.Is there something I might have missed? 

Is there a way with an ArcSDE Reader with an archived clause to expose the attributes GDB_FROM_DATE and GDB_TO_DATE ?Thanks

Hello,I need to make a model but I honestly don't really know how to start it. I will try to explain.I need to create groups of “municipalities” whose data should be published together. I already have a list of which municipalities is intertwined with which municipality based on geometric overrides but the same municipalities may be intertwined with another municipality, which in turn may also be intertwined with another etc....Eg Municipality 1 should be charged together with municipality 3 and municipality 4. I have this list, but then I also have to search in the same list if municipality 3 should also be charged with other municipalities, in this case yes, together with municipality 6 and municipality 7. Then I have to do the same for borough 4 and borough 6 and borough 7 and so on until I have everything and can then make it 1 group. Is this clear? I wonder if anyone knows a knows what would be a good format to write out solid geometry. I have worked with filegeodatabase but that is multipatch. I need spatial indexing to be able to use a spatial intersect with a feature reader. So a big dataset with solids where we often only need a few of.The multipatch feature class (FGDB) kind of works but then I need a solidbuilder and that takes a lot of time.Thank you!

The documentation is absolutely correct: "When Workbench opens, it displays a Start tab. The information is generated from a live web page, so this tab will always display the most up-to-date FME news, downloads, and resources". But here it is: I have come to dislike the "Start tab" with passion (gusto?). When I open Workbench, I always want to start a new workspace and get on with my project or task. And every time, I also have to either close the extra tab, or choose to create new workspace before I can do so. It didn't bother me the first few houndred times. Only when I fist noticed this little "additional click" with the mouse, did it start to bug me. As I couldn't locate the solution myself, I turn to my FME-colleagues out there for help; please preserve my sanity. Illustration of the main three ways I don't want to start my work added below. Hi, I have a pointcloud where I want to count the unique number of values in a component. In this case I want to find the number of unique GPS time values in a point cloud (The point cloud is made from individual epochs of a lidar scanner, but there are time gaps so I cant use the max/min values) Basically is there something like the hub transformer AttributeValueCounter (which doesn't work on components). I do not know how to use python so I can't work out how to edit their method to work on components rather than attributes I can kind of do it by using the PointCloudSplitter and counting the files, but this is really slow Thanks

Hi,I have hundreds of word documents that i am trying to extract the text from in order to run analysis on the content. I have tried just using the MS word reader to open a .docx file but with no success, so have seeked alternative workarounds to achieve this.One of the solutions I am looking at is to run ‘Mammoth .docx to HTML converter’ via SystemCaller to extract to word document into html.My issue is that, although the command runs fine when run directly in CMD, when run through the SystemCaller in FME it does not create the output file.from the log file I can see it finds the input .docx and extract the information it just doesn't write the output .html for me to read into FME with the AttributeFileReader. I have installed Python, Mammoth, and Node.js on my PC, below is the command used in SystemCaller;"mammoth "@Value(Input File Path)" "@Value(Output File Path)"Any help with this would be appreciated.Many Thanks Mike

Hello, my question is quite simple and probably idiotic but I haven’t found a clear solution to this anywhere, so here we go…I have a very simple Flow App where the user drags and drops a DWG file that then gets split up into separate layer entities and written to our SDE. So what I want, and again quite simple, is that that after running that App the user gets an email notifying him/her if the process succeeded.  Meaning the running of the Flow app is the trigger for the Flow automation that then sends out an email based on a attribute value from the Flow app (the user basically fills out their email in the Flow app that gets assigned to a attribute in that process).I cant for the life of me figure out how to use a ran Flow app as the trigger and the other things that comes after that is just bonus question material if anyone wants.How do I do this?-Hlynur
