I am curious why FME's clipper transformer creates aggregates by default. I would think that the this parameter should be set by default to "No". Many data formats can handle aggregates but there are many situations that this will cause major issues. My habit it to change this parameter each and every time I add a clipper. And newer users of FME may not know about this clipper parameter or know what it does.

Can you provide a 64 bit version of the GridInQuest transformer which I use all the time but have to use the 32 bit version. I know this depends on GridInQuest providing the dll but it is vital for me. The only option for me is to install 32 bit and 64 bit and use the 32 bit for any transformations using GridInQuest

I have about 15 FME 2014 scripts, that I want to convert to 2016, obviously this is a huge jump, any obvious examples for making this update much easier?thanks,

Very much a newbie. I'm somewhere around week two of actually touching FME. Have Searched the Transformers and Knowledge base and found close but not quite workflows.Two Datasets. One published, one to be published (updated). Need to compare the two. If # of attributes changed(addcol/deletecol) between the two, stop on error. Not caring so much about # of Records, data gets edited so those can change, care about attribute additions/deletions. This is step0.1 of a potentially complex data validation process that will likely take quite some time to develop the full flow. But need to start from somewhere.Tester - pass = Both files have identical # attributes, and attribute type.tester - FAIL = Different # of attributes, AND/OR attribute type difference existence of fail halts process with error - "Illegal Schema Change". Thought this would be a easy fast one to come up with....not so.Thanks so much in advance, I'm going to keep trying different things, If I find

Hi. I have a table with an attribute with string values such as "39.1234". I'm trying to extract the integer of this to a new attribute using Python. So something like this import fme import fmeobjects def processFeature2(feature):  vStartMiles = feature.getAttribute('Start_Mileage')  vStartMiles2 = int(vStartMiles)  feature.setAttribute("Start_Miles", vStartMiles2) However, this code gives the following error and i've tried various other options without success. Any ideas how to to extract the integer from a string with Python? Thanks

FME used to have the ability for the user to add transformers to the toolbar. I found this quite useful because I can just click on the icon for AttributeCreator and not have to type it. Is this functionality in 2016? I don't see it.Thanks

I was just curious if anyone might be able to shed some light on an issue that has now popped up after switching everything to smtp.(company name).com yesterday under Manage --> Notifications --> Subscriptions.We get daily updates from jobs that run overnight, and we were still getting them from smtp.(company name).local. But since changing all of the values yesterday to smtp.(company name).com, we got no messages or updates from FME Server last night. Can anyone shed light on why this might be happening? Can you look at the attachment containing the before and the after settings (SMTP Server is all that was changed) and let me know if we need to change anything else about them to allow the messages from FME Server to come through? Hi,  I would like to use the ESRI Shape Writer in the dynamic mode. It works but it writes the shapefile by default with shape_polygon z and m.   I tried to change the settings in the configure dynamic schema parameters to 1. fixed Shape_polygon --> same result 2. First feature defines geometry Type (the geometry type is 2D) --> same result    Roger mentioned the same issue the 22. Hi folks,I have a CityGML file with many buildings. These buildings have buildingParts with unique gml_ids. I need to access these buildingPart ids in an automatic way, so later I can use them as gml_parent_ids. Can somebody please suggest me a way how to automatically extract gml_id from CityGML feature type. Please and thanks!

I have duplicate line segments with same unique ID but different lengths. I would like to filter out the shorter line and keep the longer line for further transformation.

This is my 1st time to use UPDATEDETECTOR to compare the changes in an Oracle SDE feature class and update it accordingly. Very simple process. The same SDE feature class is both the original and the writer. The feature class is initially empty. The first run works correctly to insert 75 features. I would expect the 2nd run to do nothing, but it still finds 75 updates and writes to the feature class. I have only have 2 attributes to match against, the key attribute, and a number attribute. I also tried on a Date attribute to match against, the same result. See attached. Anything I did wrong?

I have a workspace where I read a shape file, clip the data and write it to a ESRI geodatabase with the  Esri Geodatabase (ArcSDE Geodb) reader. The attributes in the shape file contains swedish caracters. The characters is right when I read the shape file in ArcGIS but when I write the data to the geodatabase the swedish characters is replaced. How can I handle that? I have try to change character encoding on the shape file writer to iso-8859-1 (which contain swedish characters).I'm attach print screens from ArcGIS when reading the shape file (as it should look like) and from ArcGIS when reading the geodatabase.

The problem is that a few cell's contain to many characters, and there takes no mapping place.I'm creating ESRI features.Is there somebody who knows how to solve this problem? I don't want to increse the cell width, so i am looking for a solution to use only the first part of the characers in a cell.

Currently I am using FME 2015 and a project I have completed reads a xml and writes the data it sends to a database and then sends a email saying weather it worked or did not work. I am using two workbenches with a workplace runner because I have to know if it wrote or did not write to the database table. I know using FME 2015 i either had to use the workplace runner or a python shutdown script. But in FME 2016 the feature writer has a output. I was wondering if I could somehow use that to my advantage and use that output features in someway to pass the data along so i did not have to use a workplace runner and two transformers or a python shutdown script to know if it wrote to the database or not and then send a email based on success or failure. This is being done in FME desktop not FME server so I cannot take advantage of the server emailing ability.

Hello FME Knowledge Centre,I have been working with FME Server for just less than a month and have come across the following issue. I created a data download service then tried to run it as a html form. I tried it in Google Chrome and came across the following error:I spend a few hours delving into what CORS was and how it worked. I tried the templates provided by FME Server with no success. I then tried some custom CORS settings, again with no success. Before giving up I tried the form in IE and Firefox and it worked! I disabled to CORS settings in FME and tried again with IE and FF and it still worked. I am running FME Server on an Amazon EC2 and am trying to access the service from behind a corporate firewall and proxy. I have tried the form in Chrome an external computer but still no success.Help me FME Knowledge centre, you're my only hope...David McDermott

Hi all,  I've recently built a workbench file/workspace to facilitate a conversion of data. It works on the files I've been given.  I'm using the 2013 version, and have included some Chopper transformers in the work flow. The client - it now appears - is still running a 2011 version, and running it on WinXP too.  The client's FME Workbench issues an error about "Chopper" being for a newer version when opening the workbench file, and fails to produce any output data.  What are our and the client's options to remedy this unfortunate situation ? The client cannot upgrade unfortunately, as his department is currently under  decommisioning.
