Using ESRI's Data Interoperability Extention (FME 2012 SP1), I've built a tool which creates an excel file that summarizes water utility information in each of our service areas. As you can see in the screenshot below, the tool gives me length of water lines based on each combination of diameter & material in each service area. Also, the first row for each service area lists the square footage of polygon features in each service area and the quantity of point features in each service area.   The issue I'm running into now is with the polygon features (Casing & ThrustProtection in this case) having blank cell values in the first row of each service area. I believe the reason their cell values are blank is because we don't have any of those polygon features in these particular service areas in our data. Ideally though, these cell values would be zero instead of blank. So in the screenshot above, cells H2, I2, & I15 would be zero instead of blank. All the rest

Hi, I have an FME workspace that includes a Python start-up script used to download some zip files from a website:  import urllib # Get Mining tenement zip files. urllib.urlretrieve ("http://geodownloads.dmp.wa.gov.au/datacentre/download/mineral_inf/tenements.zip", save_path + "tenements.zip")  The script works fine in FME Desktop, but fails when run by FME Server with the error:  Error executing string `import urllib  Any ideas what the problem could be?  Thanks Dave LL

Hi all, I know this might be a very simple question but I am pretty biggener.   I have a FME file with DWG input and output the objective is to cleanup the DWG archive.  I have lots of overlayer/overlap line on line. I want to get rid of the short one and just keep the long one. Is there a way for this?  I thought to split the lines with he intersection point but at the end I will have some join lines with lots of vertexces. However, I want to have one line with one start and one end point.   I appreciate your help,

Hi,  I've created a workspace to read and manipulate XML data and append the output to a csv file. Then I've gone through the batch deploy wizard to create and batch and tcl script to process all XML files (700+). Then I modify my batch script so that it runs with FME 64 bit instead of 32 bit.  Now the script is running, but can I add some parameter to see how many files are already processed? Like before it starts reading a new XML file that it outputs like: " 3/700"? because now it's not easy to see how far it's gone through the files. 

Hi all,  I run into a problem when using the clipper transformer.           As "clipper" I use a .shp file with a clip area.          As "Clippee" I use a file geodatabase with 3D data.  When a polygon is cut it is logical that at the edges of the cut area new coordinates are be created. This must be done in such a way that the polygon is still closed in 3D. Here it goes "wrong" within FME. On the edges of the clip area FME created a new coordinate, with z-value 0.0. As a result, there are multiple coordinates to lie on each other with a different z-value.  See attached picture as example. In this example, starting coordinates 0 has an incorrect z-value whereby the polygon cannot be closed in 3D.  Coordinate 1 also has an incorrect Z-value. In addition, this coordinate is redundant (but that is less relevant).    The consequence of these z-values are easily visible in ArcScene. The overpass is cut and get new coordinates with z-value 0.0. The overpass will

Hi Guys again, i want count blocks in an autocad file and summarize it and write the sum with autocad_block_name and autocad_layer in an excel....I've done that with counter statisticscalculator and group by autocad_layer_name and autocad_block_name because i have the same block maybe in tow or three different layers....so far so good.... So now i have autocad_block_name, autocad_layer and the sum in a row now i want also write the fme_attrib_info{}.field_name and fme_attrib_info{}.field_value to this sums how can i do that...i don't get these attributes right in my statisticscalculator...and when i use them to group i get a wrong result. I have a problem with the Aggregator transformer producing invalid geometry. A shapefile with 4 polygons is initially passing through a Geometry Validator (all tests) and are all passing. An Aggregator transformer is then used to merge them and an identical Geometry Validator after this is finding un-repairable self-intersections in the geometry and therefore failing my workspace. Has anybody had this issue before?  The Aggregator has default values set apart from grouping the 4 polygons by an attribute.

Hi,  I've got a weird difference between x-y coordinates between two points which is causing some issues. Using a FGDB, with a featureclass with points included, as a basemap I draw a polygon using the esri snapping function on. This polygon has its corners snapped to the points and is saved in a .shp shape file. In ArcMap the x-y coordinates of the corner points are exactly the same as the points underneath them.  Now when using FME and FME dataviewer these points have slightly different x-y coordinates only differing on the 9th decimal. Meaning that the points do not fall inside the polygon creating difficulties.  To keep it simple the x-coordinate of the point is: 67479.59299999848 and the x-coordinate of the polygon corner point is: 67479.593000002205  Now my question is this: What makes the differences because the difference isn't just plain and simple rounding. With rounding I would expect a .593000000000 not a 2205 at the end.  Hope someone has an answer to how this work

Hello Everyone: I have created a workspace that takes a cad (.dwg) file and after translation produces an xml file. As part of the input cad file validation I am doing cad file structure check, which involves checking if the input file could be read then I check for if the cad file is in model space and then as a final check I check to determine if the drawing in cad model space is in 2D plane or if it is rotated (randomly) in the model space. (Please note, I want to check if the drawing itself is rotated in cad model space and NOT if individual features or individual layers are rotated or not in one plane). I have checks for input file readability and model space working. But I have not been able to get the check for drawing rotation (or orientation) in model space to work. I have tried using several transformers (e.g. affiner, 3DAffiner, 3dBoundingBoxReplacer, CentrePointReplacer, PlanarityFilter, etc.) to check for the drawing rotation property, but so far no luck in getting the res

Good afternoon!!  I am faced with a particular scenario. Typically we are interested in removing duplicates while processing data, but in this case I need to add duplicate data to run a process. So i have a routing that determined how many rows I need to repeat and belive Python can do this-- the problem is that I dont know python-- and am looking for an alternative work flow.   This is what I got: For example, I  for AA I need to add 5 rows, and for BB I need to add 3.. my result should look like: AA AA AA AA AA BB BB BB  Any suggestions, comments are greatly appreciated. Gerardo

I have a shape file imported into Postgis database, and another sets of non-spatial data in Postgresql. I wish to join both of them on a common attribute Country_name. Can someone please explain to me the steps to doing that in FME (screenshots if possible) ? Thanks 

Hi all,  I am wondering how it is possible to clip all layers contained in a single DWG file with a single clipper? Now, I use a clipper for each layer, but it is a real pain to create. I am looking for a more convenient way to do this.  Hope you can help  Best Regards  Asherk

Hi,  I would like to change my string (which represents a uuid without dashes) to a uuid with dashes (8-4-4-4-12) But I don't succeed. I know the regex to find the correct groups and a regex to replace with the dashes (found those in some forum for javascripters)  But if I use a string replacer and this regex to match my text : (\\w{8})(\\w{4})(\\w{4})(\\w{4})(\\w{12}) and this regex to replace my text: \\$1-\\$2-\\$3-\\$4-\\$5  My string isn't replaced but it gets my replacement string  ex: 00000000000000000000000004040154 -> \\$1-\\$2-\\$3-\\$4-\\$5 instead of 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000004040154  And I don't find any other solutions via some other transformer  What should I do? Thx

Hello I have a very simple query about attributes but can not get the right result for the life of me. I have a text attribute called CHANGE.  This includes a date and text as shown below:- 2014-09-26 New I have a tester which finds all of the words NEW within that field and lets them pass the Tester, this works fine. I then need to extract the year, the first four digits and create an attribute called year, place the year value within that attribute..  I managed to get the year out into a list, which works fine in inspector, but does not get transferred accross to the shape file.  What could be wrong?  Thanks in advance.

Hi, I want to assign value to attribute A based on the value of attribute B. e.g. attribute_A     attribute_B    1                   type1    1                   type1    3                   type3 ...9                   type9   ....  I know the attributeValueAssigner can do the job. But I have to type all the unique source value (here the values in attribute B). Is there a way to query all the unique values of attribute B. And then assign related value to attribute A?

I've gor an ascii raster that I want to convert to a xyz file. This should not be to difficult now should it?! Since upgrading to FME Desktop 2015.1 and Server 2015.1 we've hit an error writing dynamic features to a file geodatabase:  Unable to find the schema definition 'Scheduled_Ancient_Monuments' for feature with feature type name 'Scheduled_Ancient_Monuments'. Ensure the feature type name is correct and that its schema definition exists in the schema source  We haven't changed anything between 2015.0 and 2015.1 and it worked fine previously. I've attached two images showing the Feature Type Properties as they look in 2015.0 and how they look in 2015.1.  Thanks,  Peter.    

Apologies for this very simple question, but I don't seem to be getting a Help tab in my 2015.0 Desktop. From a previous version (2012?), I seem to recall that when you selected a Transformer in the Transformer Gallery, a Help tab/box would show you the basic instructions for that transformer. However, I can no longer see it. And when I select View --> Windows --> Help, I can switch on/off any of those windows, except Help. I can tick it and untick it but nothing happens. Could it be that it is an undocked window, which sits outside my screen boundaries? If so, how can I get it back in view, so i can dock it?  (Note I can still access the FME online help, it's just this window within Desktop that seems to have gone)  Fingers crossed there is a very simple solution...

Hi, On the FME Server I get an error when writing to SOSI. "504 ERROR 0.0 9.0 2014-12-12 08:44:20 BADNEWS: File C:\\apps\\FMEServer\\Server\\fme\\metafile\\SOSI.fmf could not be opened (tabrdr.cpp:1048)" A workspace is tested and works well on FME Desktop of course. Is there any special setup for GeoSOSIprofessional when working together with FME Server? Tips? 

Hi all,  We're currently processing a 1.6gb jpeg2000 file. We're applying a clipper to break it down to a 4x4 grid and then resampling using bilinear interpolation within the RasterResampler transformer.  Its setup to clip first the resample.  All files are running locally. The issue is at current estimates, per grid cell will take 40 hours.  Strangely enough, we processed a 1.2gb jpeg2000 file a while ago with same setting presumadly, and took 19 hours for the entirety of the project. Not sure whats happened.  Wanted to ask if any has tips/tricks to improve speed or recommend different transformer combinations.  Cheers,

Hello all,  I was wondering if anbody has any experience in adding additional files to a zipped data downlad result in FME Cloud. According to this article : http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/How_To/Including-Additional-Supporting-Files-in-your-Output-ZIP-File-Desktop-Zipster The data writer should be adapted to the File Copy writer, but since the results for a data download registered workspace are automatically zipped  and have each time a different location, I was wondering if I can actually reverse the recommended way and associate the File Copy writer to the dynamically created data location? I am going to try this myself but wanted to know if anybody succesfuly did something similar and would like to share the method. Itay
