I know there is a File/Directory Reader but I don't want to read the whole directory of files.I'm trying to find a transformer that I could use in the work flow that exposes file properties ie date created, date modified. Reading a polygon with an attribute "ABC123.PDF" and test with a FME Store FileExistenceChecker filter. If exists get the modified date of "ABC123.PDF" and push in an attribute.This should be possible with a PythonCaller or TCL but is there a Transformer I missed before I try to write one.

Dear community,  My aim is to use FME desktop 2015 in our back-end infrastructure to perform quality control (QC) for data which remote users will be uploading to our server using our front-end infrastructure. To inform the users who upload the data on preliminary QC measures (i.e. are all necessary files present in a *.zip file which represents ESRI SHAPE?) I need to:(a) Collect the error and warn messages produced during the preliminary QC translation(b) Write the collected error and warn messages into a database table.(c) Use the data stored in the database table to dynamically inform the users on the fly on whether they need to re-upload the data (i.e. failed preliminary QC), or the data are good to go the next stage (i.e. passed QC).I want to achieve (a), and (b) using FME.I would appreciate any insights!

Hi. I'm trying to use a regex in the Python Caller transformer to search a string and return the search result to a new attribute. The regex works fine in the StringSearcher transformer but i'm getting a but stuck with the Python code. So far I have the following code. My table has an attribute called "text_line_data" which contains the string to search. I'm trying to extract the result of the regex search into a new attribute called PyTrackExtents but can't work out how to complete the code. I have to filter out data based on a lot of values. Lets say, 50 values out of a 1000. I am using AttributeFilter for that and it works great, BUT it takes a lot of time and is extremely inconvenient to enter every attribute value and connect it. I could manage to copy many values from Excel, and when pasting them in I get something called 'multi-line' and I could connect only that one. It would be great if that would work. However, it doesnt. Plus judging from documentation Im not sure its designed for this purpose, but its not clear.Can somebody advice me something, please. Or explain the purpose of multi-line within AttributeFilter. Thanks a lot! P.S. I work with CityGML data.

In the FME ,we have included python startup script. When we run it in FME 2014 version, it showing an error like : name 'dbCursor' is not defined.Could you please temme what would be the reason?

I'm creating KML folders by using KML IDs approch (kml_parent and kml_id). The folders name are in French, so I would like to use characters like : é, è, à... but it doesn't work. I can change the folder name directly in the KML file but I would like to do it directly in FME. Is there a way to do this directly in FME?

In the feature reader there doesn't appear to be a way of setting all values outside of an image to nodata whilst performing GCP transformations. I'm using a geotiff within a featurereader to read mapinfo projected tiff files. However, the resulting image (they are old maps so need to be re projected) should have a border of no data where the image is no long square. However, the feature reader fills this space with 0's not nodata. Is there a way of making the featurereader asign no data values during affine transformations?

Where can I get FME objects API document for java or .NET for development.I can only find the python API documents.Is anyone can help me? Thanks!

Morning, I've had some feedback that an XML file produced using FME ( the file can be downloaded here )has created a problem whilst being parsed by Lxml. The error that's getting returned is "Unicode strings with encoding declaration are not supported. Please use bytes input or XML fragments without declaration." I've been told that this is referring to a non breaking space character.The XML file is a list of recent planning applications and for planning case 15/0779 the <casetext> tag seems to contain the offending character after the full stop at the end of the casetext description.I've tried the attributetrimmer to remove this but with no luck. Just wondering if anyone has come across this before and has worked out how to remove these characters.Thanks

I'm trying to extract z-values from a TIN surface to points where they intersect the TIN surface. This is a simple process in ArcGIS but I'm just wondering if there's a way to due it in FME without calling ARCGIS tools in my workbench.Thanks

Can someone help me with the best process for getting FME 2015 64-bit working with the ArcSDE30 reader?The process outlined in the knowledge base article on this issue (here) is rather cumbersome for a general FME user (one that isn’t also the SDE administrator).The knowledge base article calls for one to install the SDE SDK, however when I search the ESRI site I don’t see where I can get this.The only solution I could find was to download and install the ArcGIS Server for Windows software on my local PC. I was lucky enough that I’m high enough in my organization to have access to the ESRI downloads for their products, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to do this.Does ESRI still make the SDE SDK?If so where is the download for it? Is there a plan to make this more streamlined with FME 2016?I would think that ArcGIS Pro would have the 64-bit DLL’s that FME needs so maybe you all could plug into that instead of requiring this rather hard to find install.

Hi everybody,   I have a weird problem with my reader.   My reader was written in C++ and requires a coordinate system for the reading procedure. So, the FME user clicks "Add Reader", selects my reader as format and a coordinate system (for example EPSG:3493). Afterwards he chooses all remaining parameters and clicks "Ok". The translation process starts automatically.  Next, my reader`s open() method starts and fetches all parameters. I use the keyword "_COORDINATE_SYSTEM" to receive the entered coordinate system.    gMappingFile->fetchWithPrefix(readerKeyword_.c_str(), readerTypeName_.c_str(), "_COORDINATE_SYSTEM", outputString) My problem: This line only works, when the reader is already added to user`s workspace and the user click on the button "Run or Resume translation of the workspace" (green play button at toolbar). It does not work at the first translation, when the user clicks "Ok" on the "Add Reader" dialog (again, the translation start automatically after the dialog is cl

Hi,I am new with JSON. I am actually fetching dats using HTTPCaller and saving the output in csv format. I have used Creator-HTTPCaller-JSONValidator-JSONFormatter-JSONFlattener-Writter(csv). Everything seems correct till formatter, but when I use flattener, the elements are not getting exploded in the csv output or even inspector.

I am trying to optimize a large collection of "Point in Polygon" overlay operations. The work flow is this:  1. The user selects a point on the screen (will be publishing to an FME Server solution, once successfully prototyped).  2. Workbench will accept the point, and then "drill down" through all of the attached data sources and report on the findings, in the context of a PDF report.  My question is this: some of these data sets have a very large number of features. The assessor parcel layer, for example, has 350,000 polygons to process. Power poles (for proximity searching) number in the 130,000 records range. Is there a way to "pre-process" these data sets so that I am not searching through 350,000 parcels when looking through a few city block's worth would go much faster? More simply put, is there a way to restrict the overlay operation to a smaller geographic subset, like constructing a special geometry (a polygon?) that the PointOnAreaOverl

I have a project and it seems that some of my end readers are reading in files before the workbench gets to them. It would not be a issue but its sending data through a feature merger before it should. Is their anyway to force the workbench to start at one area and then not go to the next transformer until the previous one is completely done? Some sort of hold. I know this would be less efficiant but may solve my issue.

Is there any way you can set up a reader to read in a subset of the data? I am using a ODBC2 reader and I would like to only read data that is a month old (this table has 2 million records as it contains over a decade worth of data). I am currently using a tester transformer to remove the unwanted records, but the entire process takes over 6 hours.

Good Day FMEers,I am trying to create a text document containing the results of a number of data validation tests. I would like the results of each test to form a section in the text document. I have concatenated the results to for a single attribute called results and removed the rest. The document would look something like this:The way I thought about achieving this in FME was to turn the results of each test into a single multi-line feature then pass that to an attribute creator to add the title. I tried the aggregator but with no success. I also thought about using lists but I'm not sure how the get the data back out in my desired form. I would appreciate any help to achieve my aim or suggestions on any alterative methods.Thanks

Is there a reason FME 2015 64-bit won't use all 32GB of RAM I have on my PC? When I watch the Task Manager it seams to get up to about 16GB and then the log will say its starting to optimize and I hear/see it starting to write data to the FME temp folder on my drive. Why wouldn't it just keep going with the RAM? The optimization sits there forever and really slows down the completion of my workspace.
