Documentation of building custom transformers in Python ?

Hi,I'm looking into building custom transformers with FME Objects and Python, and I have succeeded in getting my first one up and running.However, I'm not finding very much documentation, e.g. of the FMX file format needed to configure the transformer, nor of a development guide. I've looked into the local API docs, the online knowledge base, the online tutorials and googled, but it's proven to be rather illusive.Are there any comprehensive documentation to be found on these issues anywhere ?Cheers Lars

Python and list with null value

Trim data

Hello everyone, I have an excel spreadsheet shows run, pull out and pick up and so on. There is one pull out and many pick up rows for each run. Automatically upload license file

For the new FME Server 2016.1, is there a way to automate the licensing/uploading of a license file at installation time? Scenario (Windows 2012 R2 DC):Installing FME Server via silent installation still means that you have to login to FMEServer to setup the licensing. Is there a way to do this at installation time by either supplying an option or by placing a license file somewhere on the file system(restart of fme services required)?How does the licensing work if you have the possibility of trashing your environment and rebuilding regularly? Do we need to revoke the license or can we just re-use the license over again?Thanks,Dan.

Import data from Excel spreadsheet using file path

Hello FME experts,Is there a way to read an Excel table containing file paths (100's of them) and load the data into a workbench?I would like to open the MapInfo TAB files to know the projection parameters and list them in the spreadsheet.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks, Thiru

How to Apply the Same Type of Merge 18 (or n number of) times without 18 Feature Merge Transformers

To Whom This May Concern:I process fields and produce a table of 60 attributes. In another document, I have 18 different curves (numbered Curve #1 through to Curve #18) as per the screenshot attached to this document (e.g. ). I am able to apply a Feature Merger transformer to a single Curve (e.g. by using a Tester or Test Filter to isolate for any one curve). What I hope to do is automate the process such that I can merge the 60 features from the one curve to the 50 attributes belonging to each individual curve in the other document (e.g. merge the 60 attribute document to 50 attributes n number of times based on the number of curves available in the other document I'm working from). Is it possible to automate this process using a single Feature Merger? Or would using InLineQuerier be more beneficial in this case? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Best Regards,- J

APPCRASH after deleting temp files

Hi all,I just deleted the foldersin my C:\\users\\...\\appdata\\local\\temp directory as a workbench that used to run fine was running into memory issues and I was clearing up space on the drive. However, on starting the workbench again (and also others) I get below error message. Coordinate system reporting as 'deprecated', but is still valid

I have been using the Colorado State Plane coordinate system EPSG:2877 for several years. FME has always warned me that this is a deprecated coordinate system and to use a new one.But FME 2015 now doesn't let me use it at all (I have posted a thread on this here and here). Error on writing Aggregator results to Writer

The Netherlands contain 12 regions (provinces) from which I clipped the bigger urban areas, so to have the remaining rural areas and smaller villages. After the clipping I had to group the areas into 12 provinces again by means of an Aggregator transformer. The weird thing is that I can see all the 12 provinces in the Data inspector, but whenever I try to write them to output, e.g. a shapefile or Geodatabase I get errors .Shapefile errors: Dropping heterogeneous aggregate feature for the ESRISHAPE Writer, due to feature type allowed geometries restrictionThe result is only 8 provinces. In the Data Inspector I can see that missing 4 differ from the other 8 in the fme_type which is fme_collection, where the other 8 have fme_multiarea: FileGDB Writer errors: Failed to write Geometry to feature class 'FeatureClass1' with geometry type 'esriGeometryPolygon'. Testing for LAS files with zero points

I was loading a set of LAS files to process through the RASTERDEMGENERATOR transformer and kept receiving an error which would stop my workbench "Either all points are linear or initial set of points did not consist of 3 non NAN elevations". After scouring the log file I noticed some of the las files being read contained no points. Once I manually identified those las files the processing went on with out a hitch. My question is how can I test incoming LAS files so they will filter out files with no points in them?

Is there an easy way to copy database connection definitions from Desktop to Server?

I have a lot of named database connections defined in FME Desktop and would like to have them all available on FME Server. Is there an easy way to publish / copy named connections from Desktop to Server? I know that I can publish a workspace and the connections will get copied up but I don't want to have to create a dummy workspace with all of my possible DB connections just to get them published. I'm also hoping not to have to re-create all of the connections manually on Server...

Create Hash MD5 with FME

I try to create an md5-hashcode in my fme-workbench. The only way I found is to create it with python.Is that right? No other way?Ok, I tried with python, but I got some errors. Need help to make .dem/GeoTiff file to minecraft world

Hey there. Some weeks ago got an idea to remake my hometown in Minecraft. First I did so by hand, but I quickly figured out that it took too long and it would probably not be so precise.Then I looked around the internet and I found out about .dem and GeoTiff and how to make these into a 8 bit greyscale map, and making this into a Minecraft world. But after a while I figured out that it wasn't precise enough either. Then after some more thinkering I got the idea "What if one could take a GeoTiff or a .dem file and directly make it into a Minecraft world?".I googled about it, and then I found that there were someone who already had the same idea that I had, and made it possible!Now this is where I am stuck. The guide How to make Minecraft worlds uses a .Tiff file, which doesn't seem to work with my .GeoTiff/.dem files. I don't got enough experience to know how to do it, so as eager as I am to make this a reality, I come here asking you for your help.Some info about

Lines exiting a Polygon

Hi All, I have a overland flow network and some polygons. I need to create a point at any location where the flow network exits the polygon (red dots, manually created). See attached. I can create all nodes via the line on polygon overlayer. (green dots) Then i tried filtering by fme_node_direction but it didn't return the expected results. Any suggestions or do i need to delve into the M values of the lines to establish the points i need. Thanks Steve

Error message when starting R Interpreter while using RCaller

Hi,I always get the same error message when using an RCaller inside my Workspace: "RCaller(InlineQueryFactory): InlineQueryFactory encountered an error when starting R interpreter. globally calculate fields with a default value

This is probably very simple but what transformer do I use to globally update a field with a standard value. All I want to do is add the number "1" to an integer field in several feature classes within the same file geodatabase. ThanksDave

insert new feature

Hello GuysI have an excel sheet with a total of school in each district we want to create a new sheet where we give each school name sch1, sch2 ... incrementally the total will represent the the Total school in sheet one , the number f classes will be divided equally to the number of school , then input is in total school sheet and the out put we are looking for is in the School Name sheet , we are doing this in order to give each school its reel location and after each school will update their information. Export results of spatial filter in a text file

Hello!I use spatialfilter to know if 2 layers match each other. I would like to be informed if they match or not and export the result in a text file such as: "6 entities of layer A doesn't match layer B".I guess it's possible to do this with FME by including a SQL query but I don't know wich transformer or structur I should use?Thanks for helping meHugo

Neighbor Finder distance in meter using LL84 coordinate system

I'm using OpenStreetMap inside my analysis and I do want to find all features around a certain point ("basepoint"). I do achieve that by using the Neighbor Finder and the solution works quite well. The distance is set by using a public parameter. The only downside is that I need to set up the maximum distance of the Neighbor Finder based on the LL84 coordinate system, which goes to something like roughly 0.001 as distance for 100 meter. This is quite unintuitive for the user.The best approach I come up with is, that I convert all my features and the "basepoint" by using a Reprojector into some UTM coordinate system. That seems to work quite well, but I would like to get a solution that doesn't require the user to search for the correct UTM system for the data. Am I right in the assumption, that there is no mathematical approach to convert these lat/lat distances like 0.001 to meters, based on my understanding that would always require some knowledge of the l

Combine two tables into one

I want to combine two tables (csv and .xls) into one table and then join to a feature class. The two tables will have the same schema once I process them through a Attribute Manager and then I want to merge them together and write them out to a csv. I don't think the FeatureMerger or Joiner will really work because they need matching values while the records from these two tables are unique. I hope that makes sense and thanks for your help!
