Hi allI have an FME Workbench file which has to do the following things:Ask for multiple directories via a published user parameter read two files in each directory which end in _changes.shp and _to_remove.shp AND are always located in a subfolder v1 in each directory.The transformers and writer after that are already doing what they should do, but I can’t seem to confgure my reader to do what I asked here. Is this even possible to do? And if so, how should I do this?Thanks in advance for the help!

Hello, I am seeking help with using a Regex to replace the first instance of an underscore in a string. I am using a BulkAttributeRenamer to rename a series of attributes with multiple underscores like this as an example: 0_4_C11_M I am trying to replace just the first underscore in the string with a dash with a regex replace to change the name from 0_4_C11_M to 0-4_C11_M. The regex I’m using is ([\_]+) When I test that expression in RegEx101 is does exactly what I need and only replaces the first underscore in the string as shown below:However, when I use the same expression in the BulkAttributeRenamer it’s returning and replacing all underscores as shown below:Hoping someone can help with advice on how to limit the return to just the first underscore in the string please - it the expression incorrect or is there something else I need to add to the parameters? The Coordinate Systems Gallery is missing EPSG spatial references we use all the time. How to update the gallery list so that more EPSG codes are available? (e.g. anything on https://epsg.io/)

I am new bee and want to generate FME flow which reads every day file from SFTP server and populate the datathe first half of the file is default then their is date concatenation with “MMDDYYYY” format and then suffix with file extensioni use datetimestamper transformer and found the date but when pass that date to FeatureReader in Dataset with “default text”@Value(_Date) , it does not generate the fileCan someone help with if their is any example which can provide me guidance on how to set auto filenames

I have a field that contains values with parentheses, like (0601310951181134359628), and I would like to remove them. The parentheses always appear once at the beginning and once at the end of the field.I am currently able to achieve this using two StringReplacer transformers, each removing one parenthesis. However, I would like to do it in one step. I tried the recommended regex expressions from previous posts, but none of them worked.Any suggestions?

Hi there,Somehow I've managed to undock the Translation Log window from the bottom pane of FME Workbench and I've been unable to return it to it's original location.Currently, it is locked in the top-left of my screen and shows as a much more compressed version of itself (with no text) - see image.Can anyone enlighten me as to how to restore it?

hello! I am currently working on an API integration project. My task involves reading data stored in an ArcSDE geodatabase, selecting specific data, and posting it to a website. The website accepts data in JSON format, which should follow a specific structure:{  "type": "Feature",  "properties": {    "id": <id>,    "name": <name>  },  "geometry": {    "type": "<geometry_type>",    "coordinates": <coordinates>  }}I read data from ArcSDE geodatabase and the option that converts data into the format above is GeoJSON writer. however, this writer saves the GeoJSON file to a directory, which I do not want. Instead, I need to convert the data into the required JSON format using a transformer, Extract specific parts like geometry and property from the JSON format that can connect with an HTTP caller to POST the data. I'm not sure which transformer would be suitable for generating the desired output. I would greatly appreciate any advice or help! Thanks!

Some workspace of us is using ogr2ogr to move data from one postgres db towards another (more performant then setting up a FDW in postgres itself and more performant then FME for doing the data move).Calling this via the system caller shows all information in the log file (including password information). Is there a way to avoid this more recent then this post:   

Hallo FME community,I have many lines in a shapefile and some lines are connected to each other. I want to bring all lines that are connected together into one feature. I would be grateful if someone could give me an idea. 

We have been putting together a transformer using the FME Packages SDK using FME Packages SDK Guide. As part of the package we are using the fmeobjects.FMEUniversalReader to read features. When we pipe the features to pyoutput to one of the transformers output ports all the attributes are not exposed. As the UnversalReader in our package references parameters in the transformer the attributes will not be consistent. Is there a way to make the attributes exposed on the output?ThanksBrad

Case: To get an unified look I am trying to aggreagate line features before offsetting them. Once they are offset I want to deaggregate them back to their original geometries and attributes. I assume using ‘Geometry - Assemble hierarchy’ in the Aggregator is the way to go. Unfortunately I find the documentation a bit confusing.Q1: Could someone please explain the parent - child concept? I have features and their attributes, so two(?) levels deep. I want to “pack” and then “unpack” them. But I don’t understand where to get the ‘parent ID’ or ‘child ID list attribute’? It would make sense to me that they were created when I group the features, not before?Q2: In the documentation the word nodes is used frequently. I guess this should be understood as ‘parts’?NB this might not even work. When using the setting ‘geometry - assemble one level’ features wont deaggregate after being offset. If it is also so when using Hierarchies, is there an other tool to achieve my desired result?

We have a model where we use a ArcGIS Portal Feature Service Reader. On the FME Desktop machine, the model works fine for me but not for my colleague. I have been given an xml file which when opened in Notepad++ shows encoding “Windows (CR LF)” “UTF-8” I need to write a new file with the same encoding. My writer has these parameters It writes the file ok but in Notepad++ the file encoding shows “Unix (LF)” UTF-8-BOM”  What writer parameters should I use to get the same output?

I wish to implement a filtering procedure for the vertices of each polyline. The goal is to retain only the vertices where the elevation difference between consecutive points exceeds a specified threshold, for example, 10 cm.I have developed a script that extracts all the vertices and identifies them based on the polyline to which they belong, as well as their specific index. The process involves testing the elevation difference between each pair of consecutive points. If this difference is below the threshold, the point should be eliminated, and the process moves on to the next point.Example of the process:If Z_PL1_1​​ − Z_PL1_2​​<0.1, then point PL1_2 should be eliminated. Next test:  If  Z_PL1_1​​ − Z_PL1_3​​>0.1, then the point PL1_3 is retained. Is it possible to write an image from a jpeg url into a file geodatabase? In other words, I want to store images directly from a url into a geodatabase. I need to extract the image from the url and move that image into a geodatabase. Thank you!

How to securely achieve the desired order of in which are feature types (tables) written in the database? I have some FK dependecies in the target tables and I have somehow discovered that its written from the bottom to the top of the feature types list. If its not written from the parent to the childs it crashes on FK violations. I know there is an idea registered. But so far what are the options? It consider the inserts/updates and also deletes where i would need the inverse order.Thank you for the suggestions.

Hello, I’m new to FME and I’m encountering a problem where the same rows of data aren’t being saved to both writers. I have two writers connected to the same database but with different tables. When the data is processed, the one saved in the shp_db_b table and can be seen, but there’s no output for the dashboard table (Even though it said ‘Translation was SUCCESSFUL’). I think the issue might be with the Aggregator transformer, but I'm not completely sure. I've attached the relevant pictures for reference.  

Hi all,When I write to a newly created Feature Service on ArcGIS Enterprise, the attribute data doesnt populate, all the attribute column data is null.The shape data populates but the attibute data doesnt for the Feature Service.Has anyone come across this when writing a Feature Service to ArcGIS Enterprise using FME?ThanksAnthony

I’m trying to identify the vertex/vertices in a 3D dataset which are at the zmin.The task is very easy but I’m trying to figure out the fastest/cleanest way to do this. The dataset could be quite big and the geometry could be any type (not point cloud or raster).  

We have hundreds of mappings we execute via command line.  We have implemented standards regarding the use of source, destination, and logging user parms.We started our 2024 migration and found a bug while trying to pass in our --LOG_FILE parm from the cmnd line (fme ...fmw --LOG_FILE xxx).The workspace will not execute and throws this error:ERROR : Unable to open log file `X:\...\FME\X_\...\Log\mapping_name.log'ERROR : The preceding error has occurred during FME logfile setupFor some reason, in 2024 it is always prefixing the log location with the location of the fme workspace.The only workaround I found to get the log file to write in our desired location was to eliminate the --LOG_FILE parm and use LOG_FILENAME instead.I have opened a ticket with Safe and have not heard anything back.  Having to modify hundreds of workspace executions is a show stopper. 

Hey all, In my previous post It was suggested to use TempPathnameCreator to download these files and once processed, the location and file will be deleted, saving disk space. However, I am unable to view any data in the FeatureReader. In this instance, my FeatureReader has 905 records under the <Generic> Port, but when I view it via Feature Caching, it says “No Schema” for the attribute name and all the values are empty. However, If i click the Columns and hit “select all” it seems that I can actually see the tables, but I can’t seem to access the data with an attribute remover or the likes. Do I need to expose some attribute within the Generic Port <Attributes to Expose>?Any help will be appreciated! Hello,I have an excel files with values in it. I read the excel file, want to use the value from column E (value is 45), use it in a math formular and calculate a new value. At the end the result should be written in to a Feature class in a FGDB. The transformer I want to use is expression value. But the calculation doesn’t work. Has anyone an idea? Thank you!Teresa  

Hello, I have 4 excel documents hosted on SharePoint, I am using a FeatureReader taking in a temp download path.  As can be seen the 4 items are being opened successfully in the featurereader, but the data is not grouped in any meaningful way for me to extract and sort out the various excel documents data (which is varying formatting, some have multiple tabs with differing data/headers between them, as you can see there are 14 schemas (total tabs within excel docs), and 1546 generic bits of data (total rows))I’ve read that I can re-group the datasets by using fme_basename but I cannot work out how to expose this, I’ve found the post below, which offers suggestions of how to expose that data. But the solution it offers is not applicable, I am using version  Does anyone know how I can expose the fme_basename?ORIs there a better way to do this?     

Hi! I have a new question today. I want to create centerlines on highways. Now, long lines, without intersections, work fine. However, i get wrong results when fme encounters a intersection, like in the pictures below. I expected this and tried to solve it, but it only became worse.  Does anyone know a right way to do it? Thanks in advance!    

I have got some beautiful Excel templates containing tables (not normal ranges). It's quite easy to write to a named range within Excel but I haven't figured out how to write to a Table. Does anyone know how to do so?
