Hi all,  I have an FME process that I run nightly to refresh a polygon feature class in my SQL Server geodatabase. What I'm trying to do is truncate the feature class first and then insert new features into the feature class.  It has worked successfully in the past, but it's not working properly at the moment. The truncate call fails and features get inserted into the feature class. Since the truncate is failing, now I have duplicates in the table. How can I save the contents of fme_text_string to a writer? I created the fme_text_string using Creator, and tried the AttributeExposer, AttributeManager, AttributeCreator, but still my writer is empty...

Hi everyone,  I have a points shape (.shp with Z value) that contains a field with measured Z-values (called Zvalue and is a float), which I copied from a different point shape in my workbench.  The idea is that the Z value (the coordinate) is set to the value in it's Zvalue field. Does anyone know how this is done in FME? 

Question, I'm presently using FME desktop 20161,2,1. I tried FME2018, but some custom workbenches I use wouldn't function. I understand 2016 may being sunsetted in 2021. Would it be possible to confirm this?

Hello, I'm curious if there are any potential security issues with a data download application via the result download link. How long do these download links last? Can they be scraped by bad actors? It seems even with an authenticated application the results URL is still publicly accessible in this format: https://[servername]/fmedatadownload/results/FME_[A-Z0-9staticstring]_[0-9string(datestamp perhaps?)]_[0-9]*4.zipIs this already an encoded token? Thanks!

Dear all, I use FME to perform a complex comparison analysis between two large datasets. I am looking for a way to analyze various subpopulations in succession, in order to reduce memory usage and increase performance. I have defined the desired subpopulations in a Reader file, so they can feed the SQLExecutor transformers to obtain the subsets. After performing the analysis on the first subset (i.e. 'Apple') and writing the results to a report file, the next subset (i.e. 'Banana') should be analyzed and so on.  How can I implement such a 'for each loop' within FME? Thanks in advance. Remy

Good evening.I need to copy all the content from a folder to another one. That means files and subfolders.I have been able to copy any file or subfolder with files, but if the subfolder is empty, it is not copied. I've been playing around with the filecopy_dest_dataset attribute, but no luck. I bet is something obvious, but I'm stuck.  I'm using FME 2019.0.2 (64-bits)Thanks for any help provided!

Greetings, I have a microstation DGN file that I'm trying to convert to a dwg or dxf and my output is missing all information from the reference files (see attached images). I tried fiddling with the reader to include reference files but it has not made a difference in my output yet. I even tried to include a DWGStyler that references a dwg template but still no change in the output. Thoughts?

I would like to merge them keeping the first value of the other attributes but, the main problem is that the values that repeat "two by two" must be merged in pairs and sometimes the pair of values repeats, so the "group by" solution is not valid, because it would group all the identical pairs into a single value. Advice? I hope I was clear.

Hi,I am using a Surface Modeller during the creation of TINs for 3D output. The majority of the time this works absolutely fine but some processes seem to stall at the same point (starting to build surface model) and I can't seem to work out why.It succeeds when there are more input coordinates than shown in the final line above. It succeeds with some more complex topographies than those that fail. It fails when there is only 1 Group in the output.I have tried altering the Surface Tolerance to a larger number but this made no difference, except to make the successful output more generalised!It occasionally stalls when building the Voronoi Diagram too, although we use the Triangles output in the process as opposed to Voronoi.It fails in both Desktop and Cloud environments.Thanks in advance!

new to FME so i apologize for the elementary question, but is there a way for me to bring in all features within a feature service at once so that i can process them with a python caller? i need to run counts and reference external csv files on the data and i can't do it properly without having all of the records.  for example, if i wanted to send an email that contained a list of all employee names within a feature layer, how would i do that? currently its sending an email for every employee within the feature layer (100 employees = 100 emails) i need 1 email that contains 100 employee names.

 I have a base word document I want to use and set so I use styles from this base file in the MSWordStyler. But I get error msg when I try to use for instance the style "Tyréns - Brödtext". Tips? Tricks? Partytricks? The styles as viewed in Word.Kind regards, Peter

Is it fair to assume that I won't be able to configure Esri ArcGIS Python with FME Cloud and would have to deploy FME Server instead?

Dear All,I've a question about choice parameter in FMEServer.I've published a workbench with some parameters. One paramter is a choice list (single). When I use the interface all is ok because I can specify only the items in the list. Now, I have some procedures that call the workbench by rest api. I've expected that FMEServer checked the submitted parameters with the list in the choice list but this didn't happen. I have to check in the workbench the input paramters?

FMEServerLogFileRetriever has been extensively used in our FME server jobs since FME 2016. It simply takes a FME server job id and returns the job's logfile content. I have been doing FME server and desktop 2019.2.1 to 2020.1.3 upgrade testing, and found this transformer works fine in desktop 2020.1.3, but breaks on the FME server 2020.1.3. The error is "FMEServerLogFileRetriever (ServerLogFileRetrieverFactory): Unable to use web connection to connect to FME Server. If connecting to FME Server 2013 or older, use direct connection." Anybody ran into this issue?

Hello I'm hoping that someone could shed some lights on this issue which I'm experiencing and not related specifically to FME 2020.2 So basically if I make a change in a Reader / Writer, i.e. changing the path of the destination then (Re)/Publish the workspace, I can see the changes made in FME Web UI but in Automations, the settings remain unchanged. That is problematic. I changed the DFS path from "MVGIS02-Data" to "GIS-Data". FME Server WebUI Automations Log Similar behaviour occurs when a Writer's connection is changed in Desktop then Published, FME Server does not pick up the change. So I'm having to replace the existing Writer for it to work. ThanksSameer 

Every single time I try to log into the FME server I get a failed login. The second time it succeeds.Every time. Unless i leave chrome open. Then I can log out and log back in without a problem.Using LDAP. No other issues with LDAP anywhere. This is always the message:"LDAPException(resultCode=85 (timeout), errorMessage='A client-side timeout was encountered while waiting 10002ms for a response to simple bind request with message ID 2 ....." A time out message and authentication failed.I did a little reading on it and found a bunch of inconsistent java mumbo jumbo. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? Its super annoying. Thanks!!

I'm using FME Desktop 2020.2. I have added a CAT reader and set the boundaries and attribute names. I needed to change the attribute names so I used Update Feature Types - this was correctly reflected in the reader on the workspace, all of the new attribute values are displayed. However, if I go back to the Update Feature Types to make any other changes I'm shown the original attribute names and attribute types from when the CAT reader was added. It did not save the changes correctly. I noticed an earlier post about this which was resolved in 2016, so not sure if this is similar or if there is something else I'm missing. Thanks for the help!

i have a number of .bat files that launch python files. im trying to replace windows scheduler with FME and i am having trouble figuring out how to schedule a new task. i am using FME Workbench 2020.2.

I have a CSV file with attributedata that's structured kind of like this: apple man woman 1234-567\\1apple man woman 1234-567\\1Bapple man woman 1234-567\\12apple man woman 1234-567 child 890.1234-567apple A3 1234-567 I'm only interested in the 1234-567 number sequence, since this is an ID I need to match further along. The rest of the attribute data can be deleted. The number sequence seems to always have 4 numbers before the hyphen and 3 numbers after. The hyphen isn't essential and can be removed. The number are the most important How do I go about it? Do I need a stringreplacer or more than one?I tried this with stringreplacer, mode= regular expression, text to change set to: (?<!\\\\)[0-9]+But what do I fill in at replacement text? If I fill in a regular expressions in that field, it returns the regular expression...! I'm using fme desktop 2019  

Hello, After struggling with several transformers, I can't figure out how to simply remove duplicates from 2 identical Excel files with exact same column names, etc ... but with different numbers of rows. First file contains 3130 entries and second one 2926. What I want is to be able to extract the 204 missing lines to check their differences. In my small brain, a simple transformer that checks missing entries between two columns and group them in an inspector should exists but it seems not to be complicated enough ... ;o) Thanks for any help
