Create a Power BI writer to enable use with FME Server to allow for automatic updates to Power BI dashboards without having to refresh/ping original (database) source. Power BI Writer question: https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/59410/power-bi-writer.html
Add an option to the triggers of an Automation when a repository changes just as you can watch an directory. This would be great to use for automatic code review of the workspace and sending out messages to Teams or the like that there is a new workspace or an altered one.For now I probably have to make a separate workspace that checks the log files to see if there is a PUT action and then take the relevant information out of it. Probably I will get that to work, but it seems a bit hackish.
It would be nice to include ADFS as an authentication service on FME Server for SAML/SSO.
I ran into a problem where couple of my workspaces crash before I get to saved the workspace (it seem to always crash when I'm working on adding logic into Test filter for some reason). I think it would be nice if there's a way we can recover the workspace partially or full workspace if we ran the workspace with cache on or something like that and the workspace will be located at temporary files directory where cache file was saving at.
I still run into the issue of the GDrive connector failing and terminating the workspace for failed HTTP errors. For my case these are internal server errors (code 500), stating "Daily Limit for Unauthenticated Use Exceeded". This was explored in this thread, but the issue still exists even with a custom web connection using a Google API key, and the limits (viewed via the drive API console) are nowhere near being exceeded. I believe an automatic retry of failed HTTP requests would fix this issue, as suggested in the drive api guide by including an "exponential backoff".
We receive 100s of flood studies that contain flood extents, depths, velocities supplied in ESRI Gridfloat (.flt) format that are need to to be integrated into our GIS systems. It would be really great if FME would support this format, at least as a Reader as it would really help our workflow, which currently has alot of manual steps that really take up way too much time. The forum post https://community.safe.com/s/question/0D54Q000080hGJySAM/flt-to-icad-format suggests that Safe were considering implementing this, but as this is over 5 years old it's worth chasing up!
The autocad_hatch_associative atribute in the ACAD Reader indicates if an hatch is associative or not but it is available only in read mode. Its use in the ACAD writer would be welcome.
The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) membership has announced OGC’s approval of the OGC Common DataBase (CDB) specification as an OGC Best Practice.I wonder therefore if FME should offer support for the CDB format - while it is just has a folder based structure, it is unwieldy and difficult for a human to navigate; therefore a transformer to help extract and modify data from (or to) a CDB may be beneficial.
Add the ability to upload into nextcloud/owncloud with full capabilities (upload, passwords, expiration date, create customized email with previously mentioned attributes).
Telecom industry uses measurement devices that communicate via SNMP.It would be useful if FME could read/send those SNMP messages and then be able to create a Network Management System (in Telecom industry). Also this functionality would enable FME to control and monitor all kind of devices in other industries. This could be realised through reader/writer, transformer and publisher protocol.
It would be good to have some way of converting FME-encoded colours (1,0,1) to human-readable RGB (255,0,255), kml_color, web colours, etc.
Unfortunately, the Log Message Filter does not change the logging which is done in the CMD window when the FME is called from a command line. With large datasets, there will be hundreds or maybe thousands of lines generated by the Reader. This is not helpful and may prevent scrolling up to see previous messages if the logged content exceeds the CMD window's vertical screen buffer.See also: https://community.safe.com/s/question/0D54Q00009jjn9vSAA/limitshorten-the-logging-in-command-prompt-window-when-executing-fme-with-command-line?t=1661867264885
I have several workbenches that I need to ship towards several customers. It would be great if it's possible to add the workbench password and encryption via the CMD.That way I can do some batch processing to have it distributed towards the customer as well.Similar question has been raised: https://community.safe.com/s/question/0D54Q000080haNESAY/apply-password-protection-from-fme-commandline But no idea was created and it's impossible (for me) to see how FMEDESKTOP-4304 is progressing
The Point Cloud XYZ reader is great at reading large tablular data quickly, however I think it would be beneficial if it could create multiple point clouds based on an attribute in the table. For example, utilising what i think would be the most obvious method, I would read in the entire table and create one point cloud feature. Lets say its 800 million points, but I have 1200 unqiue ids in that point cloud. I want to create a point cloud for each of those 1200. So I then use the pointcloudsplitter, but that is going to take ages.I instead want to be able to choose an attribute in the reader, that holds those 1200 unique ids, and have a point cloud created for them when I first read in the data. I presume that it could be significantly quicker.
Add a QR code to the server apps url so that they can be shared easily to phones and FME data express.
Add the ability to write custom key-value metadata to the output parquet files.Request originated from this Forums post.
QGIS has a graphic modeler, and FME has it’s graphic design, it would be great to convert workflows from QGIS to FME and also workflows from FME to QGIS
Linear referencing is hard in FME. It needs a much more robust set of transformers. If a route name is set, then I cannot use the <default> route in other transformers such as PointOnLineOverlayer. The NeighborFinder does not return measures as documented. Linear Referencing is an important tool for transport networks. I have had a look at the Hub custom transformers and am appalled at the complexity to do any simple operation. All that chopping just to get a distance down a polyline!
In FME Server there is currently no way to manage the names of your repositories either through the Web Interface or via the Rest API. It would be nice if there was an option to easily rename repositories rather than having to create a new one and republish workspaces.
