Shape the future of FME with your ideas

Topographic plans from surveyors that use the survey module of Civil3D typically contain lots of feature lines (and survey figure lines). It would be more efficient to read feature lines directly in FME. Together with its properties (from property sets). Reader support for Survey Figure Lines would also be nice.In 2021.0 release, a feature line that was used to build a corridor in the Civil3D DWG is read as an alignment, but no properties are found, neither with AttributeExposer. For an ordinary feature line (not linked to a corridor) nothing is read by FME.
Currently, the ArcGISOnlineConnector cannot download ESRI multipatches that are published as a Scene Service. The only way to download multipatches through the Connector, is by downloading them as Scene Packages (SLPKs). However, since SLPKs cannot be read with FME, this does not allow for further processing inside the workspace.
When using a ListElementCounter it would be nice to have an option to count elements with attribute values that are unique only.
It would be very useful if the Schedules in the FME Cloud Management Console would have an option to compensate for Daylight Savings. As it is now, you have to manually edit your schedules twice a year, and if you have many instances it could be a lot of work. I am looking for a function like on my router (screenshot), where I manually can edit settings for Daylight Savings. We either really need this option or if you could abolish Daylight Savings... Your call, Safe :-)
The crux of the idea is outlined in this question: https://community.safe.com/s/question/0D54Q00008VsdhhSAB/gltf-output-is-transparent-when-it-shouldnt-really-beBut the idea is this:When writing out texture materials to GLTF (and 3DTiles) which contain and alpha channel (e.g., a png), change the default alphamode from BLEND to MASK.This would solve many rendering issues which pop up from BLEND rendering. This is not a one size fits all as BLEND could indeed be what is desiered so as follow up suggestion:Add an option on the gltf reader to select the default alphamode - This is what is used when exporting from Blender (https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/2.80/addons/io_scene_gltf2.html).A step further still would be to allow a geometry trait whitch could dictate which alphamode is used (e.g., gltf_alphamode). At present this is a pretty big issue for us
We're increasing usage of HTTPCaller to interact with on-premise enterprise system APIs (mainly Cityworks). In reviewing some of the job logs for Automations that contain HTTPCaller transformers, I notice repeated messages like this:HTTP transfer summary - status code: 200, download size: '1061 bytes', DNS lookup time: '2.5e-5 seconds', total transfer time: '0.135342 seconds'While that lookup time is marginal (0.000025 seconds), in a workspace where 10K or more features pass through, it adds a bit of overhead and seems to make redundant DNS lookups (I can't think of a situation at the moment where the HTTPCaller will hit different servers in the same flow of data). Would it be possible to cache the DNS lookup when the first feature passes through and just use the cached value for subsequent features? Or if for some reason there would be switching of servers, cache the unique servers DNS results and use them as appropriate?
We've heard several people interested in the support for 3D Studio Max file format, i.e. .max files. Please vote for this idea, if you are interested in this support as well. We would really appreciate some more detail on how you'd intend to use this format in FME environment. Do you need Reader or Writing or both?
Can we add a storage tier selection flag on the actions (tier on write) in the ABSC? It would be incredibly handy to set bulk actions on the upload or a modification of items or subset of items in a container path using a 'List' action in one followed by 'Set' action in another AzureBlobStroageConnector. {"Hot", "Cool", "Archive"}I believe the AzCopy action is :$blob = Get-AzureStorageBlob -Container "<enter container name>" -Context $<enter context>$blob.icloudblob.setstandardblobtier("Archive")
It would be useful if there was some way of “closing” the receiver-family of transformers without causing the translation to fail. WebSocketCloser?Currently we can close down by using the Terminator, but that causes a failure..The WebSocketCloser would make it possible to carry on in a more controlled fashion. When integrating a translation in a complex workflow, I often find the success/failure being the most valueable information. Having to use a Terminator in the "normal case" takes away a freedom of keeping the meaning of success/failure distinct.
Like a Tester, but you can pick an area. It would be nice, if a small window with the cached features shows up and you drag an area over the features or a basemap where you can choose your area you want.
A nice feature for the Transformer Package safe.emailer would be to have a 'response to' field. Because the sender addresses do not always have to be the reply-addresses.Can you please add this in the transformer. :-)
***Note from Migration:*** Original Title was: TestFilter - Add Text Editor capability to write the Test Clause as a SQL-like statement The test condition in the TestFilter can be further improved for user friendly experience if the user has the ability to build the Test Clause than the current way to choose the attributes and conditional clause.Something like the shown snapshot
when reading autodesk dwg files there are several potential sources (see below) for transformation/projection definition. Please make these more defined and possibly allow selection of the source. Also if this were a format attribute that allow validation at read. AutoCAD Map3d CS definition AutoCAD transformation Esri assigned transformation prj fileI have found files with 2 differing projections assignments and fme has a non-setting default assignment to the esri assigned projection. This is not documented and not even something that can be changed. without knowing what it is doing and over-riding it.
Right now the Feature Type Name can just be added as a text or from a Parameter. I would like to be able to choose this from an attribute as for "any" other format.
Not knowing how many rows I will be writing out, using an Excel template that contains contents below my destination table, when writing out using the Excel Writer, I need the table to expand/add rows so that the contents below is written over. @sammy provides a good example in this post in the FME Forums.

One of the main advantages of fme desktop is that you don't have to write any code to perform the most complex tasks. This is a visual editor. But when it comes to adding custom crs you have to deal with this:Sometimes it makes you feel like cryingIt would be great to have a graphical coordinate system editor and the ability to import/export coordinate system in various notations like proj, wkt and so on.
We need a way to extract the properties of a coordinate system, such as the units. There is at least one custom transformer I found on HUB (CoordinateSystemMapUnitExtractor) but I think the capability to extract properties and use this data in the workspace logic should be available as a simple to use transformer, right OOTB. You can find more discussion on this here (specifically to the Units property, but it should apply to others).
Same option like the ListConcatenator (Drop Empty and Null Elements) for the Aggregator. So the output strings, when using many columns, is clean in one transformation step.
