I have an issue reading ifc files containing an IFC Class called:IFCPHYSICALCOMPLEXQUANTITY  https://standards.buildingsmart.org/IFC/RELEASE/IFC4/ADD2_TC1/HTML/schema/ifcquantityresource/lexical/ifcphysicalcomplexquantity.htm I have tried using a feature reader to read different types of Ifc Files, but to no avail, the file gets rejected. I found a work around, where I would open the ifc file as a text file and replace the IFCPHYSICALCOMPLEXQUANTITY with IFCPHYSICALSIMPLEQUANTITY and then save and close the txt file and run the fme desktop script again, which then opens the ifc file!? Does anyone know how to read ifc files with this class? I have a network where I would like to identify intersections that are not connecting at endpoints. Each line feature has it's own colour in the image below and I would like to sort out all intersections similar to A.  At intersections B and C all the lines are connecting at end nodes, but the yellow line is touching the pink somewhere "midline". I would like to collect the point where this overlap happens. I have been experimenting with the TopologyBuilder but have not figured out to get the result I want.

Hey all Have a server process that is running some parrallel processing and its failing with some really bizarre cryptic errors. The machine has more than enough ram (36gb) and plenty of temp drive space (100gb free). Any one have any thoughts on a way forward? Running on 2019.2.1 build 19823  

The Excel function takes the inputs NORM.DIST(x, mean, standard deviation) where x is the value that you want to calculate the cumulative normal distribution for. I intend to use 0 for the mean and 1 for the standard deviation (i.e. the standard normal distribution). I've looked through the StatisticsCalculator as well as the Math Functions in the ExpressionEvaluator but I don't see anything like it in those transformers. This is related to this post where they are attempting to do the inverse: https://community.safe.com/s/question/0D54Q000080hEk3SAE/is-there-a-function-to-calculate-inverse-normal-cumulative-distribution?t=1599138666050 In that post the solution was to use PythonCaller and I am planning to follow that solution but wanted to see if I could use a standard FME transformer to complete this calculation instead.

So, please be patient, if this question sounds ridiculous to you ;-)The background of my question is as follows: I have a big major workspace and want to split this into a few smaller, less complex, workspaces. In addition, I would like to re-use some of these new small workspaces in another context. Therefore, my idea was to build a few FME-workspaces as modules and use these modules to build bigger major workspaces.I understand that I can use custom-transformers and/or workspace-runner for this, but both do have some disadvantages on its own.Workspace-runner on the one hand, can just run another workspace (as the name says) and it can transfer data from the parent-workspace to the child-workspace via published parameter. I'm having some difficulties with an translation of an Excel file that contains a some sort of layered structure and needs to be transformed to a sort of folder/path attribute structure in Excel. The input is as followed:The first problem I encounter is the use of indentation in Excel, it looks like FME does nog recognize this kind of setting/formatting. This issue makes it a lot harder to transform the layered structure of attribute "Naam" to a path structure with an "folder" and "name" attribute. As shown below: I already have a solution separating the steps and merging them back when the structure is OK. I can do this by splitting the steps using the Sampler with a Group By number with sample rate (N) 1 and sample type first N with no randomization. All steps will be in the NotSampled area and can be merges back later based on the number getting the structure from the Sampled part of the flow.  So is there a way to use the indention or anther wa

I'm converting a batch of shp from one MCD to another. I can easily map 80% of the fields without any problem. But for the output MCD I need to generate a new primary key based on a concatenation of a string and a three digit increment. I've tried modifying the value (in the feature type dialog box) using the text editor, and 'string_'@Count() - this sort of works it produces 'string_1' etc but i need 'string_001' etc. Also, I already use Count() in another field which seems to confuse FME - This is probably very easy, but I'm new FME...

Hi,  I have a single file geodatabase, within this I have a number of polygons that are broken down into various classes. For example, grass, buildings and forest etc. I want to be able to check if a grass parcel touches another grass. Would this be possible to check? ThanksB

I have an FME script which takes specific headers of a source spreadsheet and copies the them and the field values to two new fields (Substrate Size Distribution & Substrate Size Distribution Value). There are transformers which replace alphanumeric characters from the original header string, sorts the numbers that are left, and concatenates the alphanumeric characters back to the sorted values. This works great. But, the script is coping a header from a field called "Visit_Year" to Substrate Size Distribution field and its value, "1989", to Substrate Size Distribution Value, where values are null in the specific headers I am trying to reformat. This is not what I want. See attachment. I want Substrate Size Distribution and Substrate Size Distribution Value fields to contain only the headers and their values, not the header text Visit_Year. Thoughts as to what is going on?

Hello, as the title already implies, I'm trying to merge XML formatted text ("insert") into a similarly ISO19115-1 formatted root template ("template"- see attachments) in a XML Templater feature. The insert (see attachment) is put together in a String concatenator feature from a set of values extracted from a database in a previous stage of the workflow and stored in an attribute named "SCIENTIST_INFORMATION". AFAIK I have two options to achieve what I want:  *Option 1 - plain 'fme:get-attribute()' *:If I use a simple {fme:get-attribute("SCIENTIST_INFORMATION")} the templater replaces XML special chars with their respective protected counterpart (e.g. < with <), rendering the text insert into something I do not intend. Note that I cannot reverse these transformation with a string replacer after the templater, as this also replaces non-XML specific special characters making the resulting XML files invalid.  *Option 2 - &#

Dear community,I am running a conversion from dwg to ifc. the necessary information is placed on a layer which is named differently in each file. I can't find a way to process this automatically, since everytime the workspace-runner brings in a new dwg-file, the attributes are stored on a differenty named layer. Is there a possibilty to read in dwg-files with a filter looking for specification within a layername?Thanks a lot for any hint on this matter.

Hi, I have upgraded my sqlexcutor transformer - now the result ashow as single, row , delimited and shows missing.is this the way it should work - or a bug?before (version 8)after upgrade (version 9)  

I have a set of 2d points that I need to generate a smooth curve between all points. My goal is to either take a polyline or a set of points and generate a spline between all of the points for a best fit and write this out to a DWG.  I'm trying to figure out which transformers would be best to build this. I just need to make sure that the spline passes through each point for a best fit. 

I have a string attribute:eg.(sign,45,"red, white",null, "stop") I want to be able to split this attribute while respecting the use of "" to surround the text.  If I use a regular Attributesplitter the result is:sign45"redwhite"null"stop" what I'm aiming for is:sign45"red, white"null"stop" Anyone got any ideas?  Cheers,David

Hi, you lovely fellow FME-people! I have a question that I have tried in this forum before but I really didn't get help so now I'm trying it again. I use FME to create earth samples speedy and elegantly in an output DWG-file using the DWGStyler. I point out a cylinder block in a template file and then use it in the output REALDWG (after inputting x,y and z and length to each individual sample). The challenge is that I also want to use FME to add tilt and rotation to the block in the output file. Is this possible? Or do you have other suggestions. It is important for me that the geometry can hold attributes and that the output file size is kept to an absolute minimum.

Whenever I try to write data in Irish National Grid TM65 (EPSG:29902) to Esri formats, FME writes Irish National Grid TM75 (EPSG: 29903) instead. The only time FME writes the desired coordinate system is if my source data is from an Esri format that is already in TM65.How can I get FME to write the desired coordinate system?

Hi all, I am working with a dataset that has been generalised and contains ALOT of spikes so I am trying to clean them up. Spike Remover- easy, its a great transformer. However there are spikes I want to keep and those I don't so I have been running a lot of tests on the parameters to get the optimum balance . When you set the parameters you can choose your max angle and length and if the criteria is met then spike is removed. The output shows the spike line segment values 1 & 2 for both sides. It seems to me that if one of the Spike lengths meet that max value criteria then the spike is removed. What I want is to have the option of when both spike lengths meet a criteria then spike is eliminated. This way I have much greater control over what is being removed and allows me to better keep the integrity of the dataset . Am I missing something that I cant do this easily? My Fix--I have put in some rules that basically takes the spike remover outputs for spike_length and tests tha

Hello everyone, I'm working with the citygml model and to implement the buildings module I used the xlink_href tool. It's all right for surfaces that are not shared between buildings. For those that are shared, i need to set the surface in one of the buildings as gml: OrientableSurface and reverse the orientation. This is necessary for the surface to be drawn in the citygml viewers in both buildings. I tried to use the Orientor but it didn't work and I also tried to create an orientation attribute and set it as a trait with the GeometryPropertySetter also without success. Would anyone know how to do this?At the moment my output is as in figure1 and I would like it to be as in figure2 (I edited it manually just to illustrate). Thank you in advance for your help. Mcdonnell

I have a polygon on which I run a CenterLineReplacer (medial axis). I would like to calculate the longest path spanned by the center lines. How is this possible within FME (preferable within FME 2016) ?

I have got an environment with a set of Named Connections however I would like to test them without pushing up a workbench. Is this possible?

I am currently looking for a way to query a list to either return all the values that contain the value found in an attribute or return the list index for these values.  I have currently managed to return the list index for the first value in the list to meet this query using a ListSearcher but can't seem to figure out how to return all values.

I have a process I would like to automate.  Every week I go out into the field and collect gps locations with a few attributes. I export the gps locations as a .gpx file. I open the .gpx file in Google Earth to visually verify the data. I save place as a .kml file.
