Scale and move one bounding box to be within another

Hi, As the title, I start with a box which I eventually split into tiles. This box needs to be scaled, possibly moved all whilst maintaining the aspect ratio to fit into the reference box. How should I proceed? Cheers,

Geodatabase error

Hi FME Gods, I'm new to the FME world, so I'll try to explain my problem as good as I can. I'm receiving the following error, when running my workspace: "Geodatabase Error (-2147220655): The table was not found. Could not open File Geodatabase table '\\Skovkort\\Teknisk_anlÅ|g'" Now I'm Danish, so I use the special characters :æ, ø, å. The character 'Å|' in the end of the error message, is actually the character 'æ' in my ESRI geodatabase, however FME has changed it in the error message. I have not had any problems with my other data, which do not have any special characters in them. So my question is this: Do anyone know if FME has problems with reading in databases, which have special characters in their name, and if so, do anyone have a solution? Looking forward to any replies.:-)

How can i set the character set for an Input CAT (txt) file.

Hi, How can i set the character set for an Input CAT (txt) file. It seems it is not possible and when writing to a database (UTF-8) the scandic characters get messed up. Shold FME be able to recognize the character set from the file?

How to convert Non-Spatial to Spatial feature class

I have one spatial point feature class(X) having 10 records with unique id (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10). I Have one object table(Non-Spatial) (Y) having 25 records with foreign key (1,2,5,6,7,8,3,10,4,5,3,6,7,9,2,1,3,5,10,2,4,5,6,10,8). So my question is can I create spatial feature class of (Y) which is Non-Spatial, using spatial feature class (X) by Using any FME transformer. Now i am having X-feature class with 10 records graphically. I want to have Y as a spatial feature class with 25 records using X-feature class geometry. I have Data Interoperabality tool.

Combine two or more ecw-files with the rastermosaicker

I have two ecw-files. Both have no rectangular shape and overlap each other. When I combine both with a RasterMosaicker. The combined ecw-file has black, I think no-data, areas at the section between them. Can I make these area's transparent? I thought of two options, but I don't know how to use them correct: a Rastermosaicker option Nodata Overwrites Data: yes or no b Composite using Alpha Band: yes or no a: I tried both yes and no but both times the result was a black area b: I tried to set it on yes but then the script fails: the log file reads: "All input files must have exactly one alpha band selected". What do I do wrong? What do I have to do?

Geomedia queries in FME

Hi everyone, We have a tool in Geomedia compriosed of a set of (complicated) queries and due to Geomedia's limitations to run the tool, we are thinking of applying FME. Is there any way not to need to recreate these queries from scratch on FME? Any chance we can import queries to FME or possibly through the library feature in Geomedia in which we can store the queries there? Thanks

Migrating Lines to ARCGIS polyline

I'm trying to import geometry lines from Oracle GeoSpartial database to Arcgis enterprise geodatabase. and some data will cause the error. Its says not enough points for feature class, but when I look at offending object. it clearly has 2 or more coordinates stored, but I notice the start and end point is the same. I have check the following a) Using geometry filter to take out lines only b) Use FME inspector to view the lines. b) Used geometry validator 4) Used duplicate coordinate -> Valid dataset will cause the same error How can I solve this problem? May i know is it possible to set FME to skip those data

Dynamic Paramater Choices at runtime

Has anyone been able to link (not import) via SQL a choice/alias list to a published parameter to dynamically update the list based on the linked table at runtime. I.e. the goal is not have to continually import / update choices each time the workbench is executed.

TEXT x-y offset

Text x - y offset when I migrate text that uses point to for location to arcgis enterpise geodatabase (annotation) I notice the text will never be at the same position because annotation has a box and the text is contain in that box. may I know how do I remove the margin?

Parsing attribute values

I have a workspace that compares a PATH HIERARCHY data set attribute of video file names to a GeoMedia Feature data set attribute of sewer segment names and does a feature merger on the two datasets when there is a match. Sewers are usually videod from upstream to downstream and the video files are named according to the direction in which the camera was travelling. My workspace gets quite a few matches BUT...there are occasions where the videos are named from downstream to upstream which causes my feature merger to send that video name to the incomplete branch. I would like to parse the video name attribute and use the result to create a new attribute that is the reverse. So 'MH07-121 to MH07-122' would become 'MH07-122 to MH07-121' in the new attribute. Could someone please suggest an approach that would accomplish this for me? Thanks.

Generic Writer questions

Sort only part of an attribute in a list

Hello everyone, Is there a way to sort a list using only a part of the attributes in a list--specifically a number? What I need to do is re-order attributes according to an ID number from lowest to highest. Here is what the attributes look like: 34N27W_100700 34N28W_700700 35N27W_100100 35N28W_700100 These need to be placed in fields according to the order of the last six numbers only. 35N27W_100100 34N27W_100700 35N28W_700100 34N28W_700700 If I create a list out of these attributes, I can only sort alphabetically, which produces the wrong order. I have tried separating the numbers into a list that I can sort but then the rest of the ID gets lost and I'm having trouble matching it up again. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can make this happen? Thanks!

Source data upload in Java

I have a published workspace which accepts EsriJSON and returns a WKT polygon. The workspace runs successfully when called directly from server or from the generated html, however I can't get server to recognise the SourceDataSet parameter and file upload in my Java code. data download with excel template

Hello, I have a workspace that updates an existing excel template. When publishing it to a data download service, it writes the excel file, but doesnt use the file specified in the writer. I know this is because the data download writes to a temp location, not the writer output folder - is there anyway to force it to use a template? Owen

Executing a secondary workbench file from shutdown script

i am looking to trigger a second workbench file after completing the writing of a primary one. Does anyone have examples for calling an fmw file from a shutdown script? This is a workaround to be able to trigger a SQL script upon completion of writing to a Postgres/PostGIS table.

Fetching a zipped CSV file from an ftp site

How can I read a zipped CSV file from a FTP site, extract it and save it. Nothing I have tried seems to work. Has anyone done it successfully? Would need to do it on the both FME server and desktop. I would be thankful for any input.

Oracle Reader Grayed Out in Reader Gallery

i'm stumped... I have FME Workbench installed on 2 different machines. On one machine the Oracle readers are enabled and available to be chosen and on machine 2 they are grayed out and disabled. Yes there is a dot in the Licensed column of the Reader Gallery on both machines, so I believe I am licensed for it. I have the Oracle client installed on both machines. Machine 1 is Windows 7 64-bit. Machine 2 is Windows Server 2008 R-2 64-bit. How do I "enable" the Oracle readers on machine 2? on Machine 1 the Oracle client was installed first, then FME 2013 SP1. On Machine 2, the Oracle client was installed after FME 2013 SP1 was already installed. Does that matter? Sarah

Concatonated publish parameters and FME server

(working with server and workbench 2011 32-bit) Hi, I'm trying to use a published parameter that is a combo of two other private published parameters in fme server. e.g. full_path=$(drive)$(path) where drive="D:/" path="afolder" i'd expect D:/afolder to be returned from $(full_path) as it is in workbench. however i get the unresolved string '$(drive)$(path)' instead once i've published the workbench to server. The full_path parameter is being used as an esri personal gdb dest_dataset parameter. Can anyone explain why this may be? Are joined parameters like this supported in FME Server 2011? I thought they were. Nick

Reshape polygon vertices to get uniform vertex distribution

I have a polygon with lots of vertices. I want to create a new polygon with a uniform distribution (distance) of vertices along the edges. At the same time I would like to simply the polygon, thus removing vertices with a high density with no significant influence on the polygon shape. I would like my result to be a polygon with vertices evenly distributed/spaced along the edges and only a more dense distribution where the shape of the polygon requires. How can I do this in FME?

Uploading Resources

When uploading a workspace to FMEServer and adding Resources I want to be able to NOT upload these when uploading another workspace to the same Repository. Ie I have some large LIDAR-files which several workspaces use. However I do not want to upload them once for each workspace. Is this possible?

3D Geometry issues when aggregating features

Hi All, I am having a bit of trouble with a workspace in which i am converting from an ESRI Shape file to an ESRI Geodatabase. My initial dataset is 1 file with 3D polygons as the geometry (Polygon ZM). Each face has an attribute which defines it as either a wall or a face. Additionally, i have an attribute for each face that is a relationship to an underlying 2D building footprint (a parent footprint ID). What this means is that i end up having multiple polygons with a reference to a single building footprint. I need my final feature classes in a Geodatabase to be as follows:- - 2 separate feature classes for roofs and walls - all walls with the same parent attribute to be merged into 1 feature - all roofs with the same parent attribute to be merged into 1 feature - all geometries in walls and roofs to be Multipatches In order to do this i have used an attributeFilter transformer to split my walls and roofs apart. I then had 2 streams of data being processed. My next step is to
