Hello everyone, here is your weekly FME newsletter. User Conference DetailsThe FME User Conference is coming up quickly (August 24-26 in Vancouver) and most of my work now is preparing for the event. We recently published the full agenda so you can see all of the sessions taking place, including user presentations: I have to say that the presentation lineup reads like a Who's Who of FME experts. There is an impressive range of talks by a host of top speakers, and I think we're all going to learn a lot during the week. In particular interest, we have two sessions titled "Special Interest Groups"; one for local government and one for utilities: I think the hope is to improve networking and create a community of like-minded users that lasts beyond the conference, which would be great to see. How to set the GeoLocation of a IFC model in FME?

Hi, I am currently writing my master's thesis on the subject of "Geodata according to BIM". In particular, the georeferencing of the IFC file using FME causes problems. In concrete terms, the necessary IFC entities "IfcProjectedCRS" and "IfcMapConversion" cannot be written. How are these defined and written with FME? IFC Version 4 is to be written. (FME 2019.1.2.0 (Build 19630) and WIN64 are used for the data conversion.) Do you already have experience with georeferencing IFC4 files using FME?

Building Line from large volume streaming data

Hello There we are consuming streaming data coming from the GPS location of a large number of assets, we are getting around 4 Million records a day all those records represent the location of the asset moving in reel time we need to store this data in the database to get the path for each asset. due to the size of the data, it takes a long time to query the database and retrieve the path of the assets during a period of time is there anyway, instead of storing the Point we store line, and this will reduce the number of records how could build a line path that will have the same alignment as the road or any other solution that will solve this issue Thanks

SELECT NETWORK FILE

I want to build an app that will prompt the user to select a file.the file is on our network. I have set a resource for the root folder and set this resource as a parameter in my workbench. (It would be nice if the user could not change this) The first required prompt (parameter will allow the user to select 1 subfolder of the resource folder. Then i have specific values for 2 other subfolders that will be supplied and added to the root and the first selection. The second prompt will be a single file in the now complete folder structure. This folder will then be supplied to the output where the file will be written with the same name + datestamp.I have what i think are the parameters built in my workbench but don't get the path built correctly.I am trying to buld the path like this.$(FME_SHAREDRESOURCE_DATA)$(SELECT_PROJECT_ROOT_FOLDER)\\PROJECT_DATA\\WORKING\\$(SELECT_PROJECT_FILE)any ideas on how to accomplish this?

dwg writer getting feature that is not created

I am using shapefiles to create multple attributes for dwg OD table output.I have a dwg that does not have a feature for this output. (I am writing this to use in fme server). I use a tester to divert the shapefile feature out of the output stream. but the feature gets created in the dwg regardless.I tried putting a NoFeatureTester to try to keep this from happening. HOW does this feature get through the tester?in the screenshot. the feature that is in the NoFeatureTester ends up in the dwg.

Shift point cloud elevation

I have a dozen connected large point clouds (2-3 sq km) which have ended up about 100m out in elevation due to transformations performed in another product to align them accurately. I want to take each point cloud (LAZ) and shift it up 97.5m in elevation. How can I do this in FME? Please be detailed as I am still learning to use FME and not familiar with a lot of its capabilities. Thanks in advance

I've recently had to migrate ArcGIS Online Data (US to EU) and now when I try to run the tasks, the ArcGIS Online Reader appends random characters to the end of the Feature Layer (screenshot attached) meaning the scheduled task fails.

I've noticed the Features can be read irrespective of if the random string at the end is present or not. They seem to change each day or time I re-add the reader, which doesn't make much sense. The AGO Feature Layers are named fine, permissions are correct, so there's no reason for it to add random characters. I didn't know if there was anything in FME that might resolve the issue as I cannot run the job unattended. It refuses to read the Feature Layer, though using the GUI I can read the Feature Layer and Attributes just fine.

Overlay Two Vector Datasets with Satellite Imagery

Hey Community, I am trying to map generators/power plants and substations for Texas(ERCOT) region in US. I have got one datasets from HIFLD and the other that I have already(my org). I have created a workbench that preps the data and compares the two data for generators. Also, there are a lot of substations that have got 'Unknown' names and is not possible to compare the two. Is there a possibility where I can run the workbench and it compares the two datasets with satellite imagery(Bing Aerial, OSM, Earth street) and provide a validation result.

Unable to mosaic overlapping JPG Rasters

We are doing surveys of areas using drones. Images are taken directly from above with a very large overlap, which is required to create 3D models and point clouds. This works perfectly in software like Pix4D and DroneDeploy. As an alternative, we are trying to use FME to mosaic the images together, but cannot even get two images to be properly stitched together. As this should be a very simple task, I assume we are missing something very basic. I have tried to go through other tutorials/posted questions regarding this issue, but could not find anything that helped. The test workflow reads two JPG images (there are actually thousands of images, but we are testing with two adjacent images) and sends this to the Raster Mosaicker. The only way that I got the two images to be mosaicked was to set the "Overlapping Values" to Average or Sum, but the end result is an image that looks a bit like a water mark (colour faded) with certain parts of the two images duplicated at the wrong s

Align label with a line above the Center of each line ?

hello , I would like to add ID of each line above the Center of line .but in some cases that the lines are rotating or have curves . .is there method that I can align label probably and avoid overlap the label on lines ?. When using @ReplaceRegEx, is it possible to use named capturing group ?

Hi,I'm using @ReplaceRegEx and I've tryed to use named capturing group but I think that it isn't possible, could you confirm that ? Has anyone been able to setup a outgoing webhook from MS Teams with a message that can then be passed into a parameter?

Hi, I have a number of outgoing webhooks from MS Teams that call tasks to run in FME Server that then respond back with a message in MS Teams. That's great but I would also like to be able to pass messages into parameters. e.g. From MS Teams send this: @FME Server 'check this' The 'check this' could then be received into a new parameter and used by a workbench job. Has anyone had any luck doing this? Many Thanks!

Hi, I have thousands of dgn files that need to be converted to shape files. I want to convert each dgn into corresponding shape file. Insufficient memory available -- error code was 2 | How to resolve this issue

Hi,I have this message during a translation : Insufficient memory available -- error code was 2I have already read every thread on these memory troubles but none of them have a clear answer about that and how to resolve it.The 3 answers were always : adding ram/stop others software/move the temp dir... My case : I have a machine with : 32Go of RAM TEMP_DIR set to a physical disk with 200Go of free space I need to transfer 3 Go of data from one table in an Oracle database to a PostgreSQL database whitout any tranformation, it is just a reader + feature type connected to a writer + feature type. On this machine, there is FME but there is the Oracle instance and the PostgreSQL instance too. They consumme some RAM :About 10 Go for OracleAbout 100 Mo for PostgreSQLAdd 6 Go for other stuf mainly Windows process So now I have only 15Go of free RAM (but 200Go of free physical space). When I start the translation I have these messages :System Status: 207.05 GB of disk space available in the FM

In a project with archive software an export of a BigTIFF from FME is noticed as a ZIF format. So is the export of a BigTIFF really a BigTIFF? The problem is that BigTIFF is an open format en ZIF is not an open format. Information about ZIF:ZIF File Format Specification (zoomify.com)
