Hello Everybody,  If anyone can help me to find the lines with atleast two vertices common as i need to make offset of these lines. I used duplicate remover ,it works fine for lines having only two nodes (i.e start and end) but as in my line network there are lot of lines which has various cases like 1st and 2nd vertices common or 2nd and third vertices common . I need to offset all the lines if they are having same two vertices. Please help  Thanks in advance

If I start with a coordinate pair or shapefile, and then use the extruder(s) to create a volume, what transformer do I need next so that the CSGBuilder will recognize the volume as "proper" 3D shape? I've tried GeometryFilter (solid) and GeometryCoercer (fme_brep_solid) but these do not do the trick.  Here is an example that is easily tweeked to replicate my problem: http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/How_To/Using-the-CSGBuilder-Transformer  This example creates XML geometry (an ellipse) then extrudes it and sends it to CSGBuilder. How can I make this work if I start with a shapefile that is an ellipse?

Hello  In order to get a GML formatted string, which I need for later XML/GML writing, I use the GeometryExtractor transformer with variant GML v3.2.1.  So far so good.  My problem is that it in many cases it creates Geometry of type <gml:LineString ...> and for reasons I cannot influence (German NAS Standard ;-() in many cases I need to get geometry of type <gml:CompositeCurve ...> otherwise it will NOT validate ....  In GeometryExtractor I don't see an option which allows me to control this.  Any ideas out there how to solve this problem ?  Thanks Michael

Excuse my knowlege of TCL (it is very rusty).  I have a stream of featues (fme_line), with the attribute:  Attribute(encoded: utf-8) : `type' has value `Ferry Route'  or  Attribute(encoded: utf-8) : `type' has value `Major Highway'  I am trying to use the TestFilter to find the ferrys.  I have the following StringFinder call, but it always returns -1:  @FindString(@Value(type) , "ferry", 0, FALSE)  also I have tried something simpler  @Value(type) = "Ferry Route"  But that also is always failing.  And this also does not work:  @Value(type) CONTAINS "Ferry"  any ideas?

Hi,  Is there a way in FME to detect if there has been a change in the attributes name or if there has been a new added attribute to a source file.  The wokbench is going to be for a scheduled load that will be happening once a month.  But there are times when the data vendor add new attributes to the source file, I want to be able to get an email telling me that there is a new attribute in the source. Thanks KASA

Hi there,  I am learning FME and have understood basic features, transformers etc. I have in confusion what to do next:   I have data (geodatabase) in my local drive, I have downloaded some changeset data from the Data server of the same area which have some changes in land parcels. I would like to update my local database based on those changeset of data based on commond id used in both local drive data and changeset data.   Any idea/suggestion where would I start with?

Probably I am missing some obvious things here but I cannot seem to make this work. I have a published parameter "code", which I receive via user input from the command line. Let's say "--code ca" My script should extract two private parameters using the "code" value. I want to cut a polygon from another polygon. Both of them are in the same plane, but in 3D. I have a problem with the polygons that have a common edge. The two polygons represent the hole roof of a house and the roofing and from vutting them i want to obtein th eaves... Insted of obteining just he remaining polygon i get some thin portions from the original polygon as part of the corect polygon. The problem might appear because the polygons are in space?I've tought on using a 3dbuffer for the clippers but for a polygon 3dbuffer extends the polygon along its normal vector, isn't this correct?. Any sugestions??  

Hallo everyone,  will be great, if you could help me with my question. i have 2 Shapes with coordinate system WGS84 both. if im trying to find a neighbor, i get the distance in grad...  To find a distance in meter with NeighborFinder i need to reprojekt this coordinate system in UTM Zone 32 or Zone 33. This is my problem, because i have in each shape-File both Data from Zone 32 and 33. But by Reprojektion i must give only one of them. Do you know, what can i do?  Or is it possible to find a distance in Meter without changing the coordinate system?  Thanks for your help! 

Hi, I have used rasterresampler to increase my raster cell size however I want to assign a value of zero to all my raster cells..how can I do that? and how can I subtract the value of the cells of two raster layers presuming they have same grid size (number of cells).? Thanks

Hello,  I noticed in the Aggregator transformer that there is an option "Attributes to Average, Weighted by Area", is there a way to weight the average by length for a line feature? If not, do you have any recommendations on a different way to get that result?  Thanks for your help!  Amanda

I have a Mapinfo Tab file of Points that have an Attribute called 'Code'. Data contained in this field is in the format of ABC# SL or ABC# EL.  What I need to do is create a line between Nodes whos attributes match e.g. ABC1 SL and ABC1 EL.  SL stands for Start Line and the EL stands for End Line.  Thanks  Shane 

Hi,everyone, I have a problem about how to make a fmw file an executable file for the FME Quick Translator.I hope the file can automatically open the FME Quick Translator with a dialog for the data processor to fill up all the nessecery parameters the  transform flow need.   I've  encounted this case ,but I do'nt know how to do this.I've attemptted to make secondary development with  the FME OBJECTS,IFMEWorkspaceRunner and FME Plug-in .But actually it's sometimes a little wasting time,or can't meet my requirement such as filling the parameters of transformers out of the workbench.  I didn't learn FME systematicly,so I think there must be some more convenient way to achieve it.Of cource maybe ,I have the wrong idea.  I'll be here  ,hoping someone can help me.thank you very much.   Hannah Xu Email:719446764@qq.com

Hi FMEers Hopefully this is an easy question for someone to answer. I've got a workbench that dynamically reads WFS and output a selected feature type to a file geodatabase.  I'd like to extract some fme attributes from the input data (such as fme_coordinate_system).  I know that you can use the attribute exposer transformer or expose some of the fme attributes in the the reader but I can't figure out how to get the coordinate system (not set at runtime - read from WFS by the reader) into an attribute. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks Rob

Hello all  I have had it  several times, that i cannot write to Oracle Spatial DB apparently correct (at least by GeometryValidator Transformer) geometries. I can write these geometries with other writers (i tested ESRI shapes and ESRI geodatabase). I know that oracle has his own strict geometry validation rules.  Strange enough, the ORA-Error echoed back (ORA 20263) is not a common error found here for example:  http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10744/toc.htm  Is there a way to check before the insert, if a geometry is valid (in strict Oracle DB terms). Or is there a parameter within the writer that can catch the Ora-Error, skip the geometry, and continue the process of writing with the other pending geometries?  I'm working with FME Desktop 2013 (20130124), DB is Oracle Spatial 10.2.0.4.0  Yes, you guessed right, english is not my native language.  I appreciate your help.   Bernard     

We are moving away from connecting to SDE via a 3-Tier connection type to a direct connection type.  We have several hundred workspaces with connections to SDE with the 3-Tier.  I was wondering if anyone has wrote a script or know of an easy way to do change the parameters in how it connects in some type of batch process so we don't have to edit and touch each one of our workspaces manually.  Any advice or asiistance would be appreciated.  Thanks Travis

Hallo everyone,  I tried a lot, but can't find a solution. I have a polyline feature class in a file geodatabase and want to create several annotations out of it. That means, the non-annotation-feature has already been written. Writing multiple annotation classes according to the feature's attributes is already possible in my workflow, but they are not feature-linked yet. It is stated here, that the "geodb_linked_feature_id" attribute connects the feature's Object ID to the ID of the annotations and thereby virtually the two datasets. But what am I supposed to enter in this field? When I choose the OBJECTID attribute of the polyline feature nothing happens. A second point that confuses me: If the polyline feature would not be already written, the documentary (here) tells me to use the 'geodb_text_feat_class_name' format attribute to link annotations to the feature. Hi All,          I'm currently trying to execute a procedure in FME which I thought was quite simple. I have two files:  (1) a map of points (with coordinates) which I exported from my GIS tool, each point has its own coordinates and specific attributes attached to it, and  (2) a map of polylines which I also exported from my GIS tool, each polyline has its own coordinates and specific attributes attached to it.  When I overlay the two maps, the points spatially intersect with the lines. I would like to create a buffer around the points (15 m or so) and have the attributes of all the lines within that buffer merged with the attributes of that specific point.  Ideally, I would have one row  for each point and an array of all the line segments that are within that buffer, or a row for each line segment with its corresponding point.   I tried using PointOnLineOverlayer, and FeatureMerger and ListExploder but I never receive all the information I would like. Any thoughts?  Thanks! 

Hi,  FMW has been encrypted by adding a password, then I deleted the password and saved, at the same moment I opened the fmw and found it was still encrypted.  Then I closed the workbench, I cann't reopen the fmw, because I can't input an "NULL" password.

Hi,  This simple task has been stumped. I'm trying to extract 3D nodes from 3D polylines and 3D polygons, to be stored as point features in a separate dataset..  I've tried TopologyBuilder, GeometryExtractor and a handful of other transformers, but I can't seem to find the right combo.  I'm sure it's quite simple, but I do need advice on this.  Cheers.  Lars
