Hi,Can anyone provide some advice as to the most efficient way to explode a huge free text field or fields into all of its character elements retain a single instance of each. I am essentially trying to complete a pre-flight check in order to understand whether there are any ‘odd’ or ‘unexpected’ characters in an ever expanding data set, over which I have no control. I have created a process below which completes the task; however, it is very inefficient and as the number of records increases it will become too slow. 1. Derive string length of free text field 2. clone by number derived in 1 (clone number created in process) 3. substring extract using clone number to obtain character at that position 4. I have a number of DWG files, stored on the Autodesk A360 drive.I was hoping the A360Connector could be used to download these files.But the connection is pointing to the A360 projects folder only.Does anybody know how I can download (and upload) from the A360 Drive using FMEAny help is appreciated.

Does anyone know what the 'rules' are for best practice sharing of named database connections? I'm seeing some very odd behavior that I can't explain.It seems that for example there was a name change for the named connections database between FME 2016 and 2017 from namedConnections.data to fme_connections.data, meaning that an old connection database presumably must be exported as XML and reimported to a newer FME before the connections can be used. So, its not possible to share connections between different versions of FME in an organisation where there are different FME versions installed.Also, I'm seeing connections that are created on one machine, that work fine when 'tested', when they are tried to be used on another machine in the same organisation and they are 'tested' a whole raft of errors come back and authentication fails. In my workflow I need to check whether multiple lines (paths) crosses within some areas (hazard zones). I'm doing this with LineOnAreaOverlayer, but it is too slow only with 17K lines and 8 areas. It has taken more than two hours and the process didn't finish (On the bottom of the workbench I get this message performing low-level intersection phase X%)I've read that I could enable paralellism with grouping. However, when I did this the process doesn't find any overlaping line with the area, when it certainly are lines that do it. How could I improve the performance of this process?

When using data streaming service with FME Server I know that an engine needs to run to generate the initial file that will be streamed. Once this file is generated i.e. a geo JSON file, is an engine involved when a user hits the endpoint to retrieve the geo JSON? Or is the data streamed from the web server?  Also, if we have multiple engines and the streaming job is run by multiple users at the same time, will they be attempting to over write the same file? Is the streaming dependent on the file that gets written by the job or does it stream directly from server?

Hello, I am a researcher working on Digital Cartography. I am new to FME and I have been trying to convert an Esri Shapefile into VPF coverage (Vector Product Format). But it seems that the FME can read VPF coverage but cannot write that. Instead FME writes VPF database which I do not want. Any useful insights on how can I write VPF coverage using FME would be highly appreciable and helpful for my research.

I've recently come across a number of these files that look like they are from the early 1990s. AutoCAD can open them, but I was hoping to batch convert them into either TIF or PDF format. I used a Data File Reader, set to binary and found that the first 4 bytes describe the dimensions of the image, but after that, I'm stuck.

Hello everybody,in my workbench the scale of an output raster type feature should depend on an attribute RADIUS, which is defined as a numeric published parameter the user can manipulate. I realized that with a private parameter which is defined through a python script as you see below. I set the default value of the RADIUS attribute to '500' so the scale should be '4000'... But the script returns the value '15000'. I also tried to return just the value of the RADIUS itself in this script to test if the RADIUS value is still setted to 500 when the python script is running and it is! And the RADIUS attribute is definitely numeric. It has the type 'Number'. What could be the problem? I don't really know what to do.Best regards,Felixscale=0if (FME_MacroValues['RADIUS'] <= 500):    scale=4000elif (500 < FME_MacroValues['RADIUS'] <= 1000):    scale=8000else:    scale=15000return scale

Hi,I'm merging a DGN file with excel table writing into a SHP (feature type definition 'import from Dataset' - I used a template given to me)The excel table contains date, I've used DateFormater- DestinationDateFormat: %d"/"%m"/"%Y, it looks like it should work and it is working when I run the workspace redirected for FME Data Inspector, dated are coming up perfect, fields with no no date have <missing> instead.When I view the SHP in Data Inspector as to 'open a dataset in a new view' dates are missing as they are missing when I view in in ArcGIS.How to make it the date viable?I've tried the FeatureWriter, dynamic properties and used the template .shp a s schema definition, that doesn't work either.Would anybody have any idea why the date is so difficult to write into a SHP? I use FME Desktop 2016.1.3.Would the proper XML workspace exported from GDB help? There is a .shp.xml given to me within the shapefile template anyway.Kamil

Hi, I'm trying to transfer attributes from an 'inaccurate' set of points to another 'accurate' one, however I'd like to limit canditates (or bases) to have a 1 to 1 relationship where if a candidate was already found as nearest neighbour to a base, then it is 'taken out of the pool' and not found again for another base.In example below, I want to match A to 1 and B to 2, however 1 is closest to A and B thus gets assigned twice. If I change ports (Base<>Candidate) then I got opposite: 1 and 2 is assigned to B.Is there a way of saying; if you already found A~1 then 1 is out of the pool and B~2 ?Points have no common attributes to use for grouping by and there is 100's of thousands of those, hence finding nearest neighbour by location to assign correct attributes from incorrect geometry.

Hello, I have one question regarding conversion 3D city from SHAPEFILE to CityGML.I have more classes of objects (vegetation, cityfurniture, buildings, ...). I would like to ask how can I follow the structure of creating _AbstractClasses in FME workspace? How can I create abstract features and use them as gml_parent_id in those features which are in the hierarchy down below? Thank You Michal

It would seem that Tiles can be made of complete RGB-data (FMERGB24Tile for instance), but the getTile() method seems to be available from FMEBand only, which in turn will only contain a single color channel, as generated from FMERaster.getBand(). Is there some elegant way to generate an FMERGB24Tile from an input raster?
