Hello everybody,  I want to install an external python package named xtopdf in FME. The problem is that this package cannot be installed with easy_install or pip as usual. It has to be installed manually (https://bitbucket.org/vasudevram/xtopdf). That means the hints given on https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/841/install-python-modules-into-fme.html don't work here. In my normal Python envorionment outside from FME I could download the zip file, unzip it in a directory 'xtopdf' in my Python directory, create an __init__.py in that directory, install a few other needed packages and it worked. But in my FME Python environment it does not work like that. If I copy my xtopdf folder in the directory .../FME2017/fmepython27/Lib, install other needed packages and create a startup script where I just try to import the package 'os' as a test and this module. While 'os' could be imported 'xtopdf' could not be found!  Hope that anyone has some experience with

Why is there a 10 Character limit to V8DGN Cell Names in the V8DGN Writer when the V8DGN file format allows for a 512 character cell name? The old igds days are long gone and I don't understand why FME V8 DGN writers would not use the V8DGN file format attributes sizes? 10 Characters is not enough in the V8 DGN world for a cell name.

Hi everybody!I'm facing a problem with the ocgkml Writer. When I route 3D surface geometry of building models to the writer, I'm getting flipped surfaces for my facade features. Unfortunately this behaviour doesn't remain constant for all facade triangales, some of them are oriented correctly and some are not. The input features look correct to me and exports to collada prove this to be wright.An export with FME 2015 also shows a correct export with all walls oriented correctly. So this has to be an issue with FME 2016 and 2017. Has anybody else encountered this behaviour and found some workaround for this? Find attached the sample data together with a snipped of the workspace and the exported KML filesThanks in advance to everybody who can help me!

Hi, I am writing to ask a question about RasterExpressionEvaluator. I have a buffer layer around one point, and I created a raster out of this buffer layer. In this buffer layer, I used red color for distance 0-100 meter, purple for 100-300 meter and blue for 300-400 meter. Now I would like to overlay the buffer on the Geotiff. So, I need the colors to be transparent so the background color of Geotiff can also be visible. I have used RasterExpressionEvaluator with raster buffer as input for port B and Geotif as input for port A. Then I have used this band expression list: if(B[0]==0,A[0],A[0]+B[0]/5);if(B[0]==0,A[0],A[0]+B[0]/5);if(B[0]==0,A[0],A[0]+B[0]/5). However, when I run the work space the color of raster buffer will not as I specified before using RasterExpressionEvaluator. Any help would be highly appreciated, Regards, Mitra

Hello,I have CityGML files for buildings and I want to know and expose the number of vertex and triangles that will be exported by the OBJ writer.I use the aggregator transformer to merge all the geometries and count the number of vertex, then remove all duplicated vertex (not immediate, but feasible), but I don't know how to find the number of triangles.Is somebody having an idea ? Maybe using the pythocaller, but I'm not a specialist !

How can we trigger workspaces one after another in FME server? Suppose we have three workspaces and these three need to be run one after another in sequence, published the three workspaces to fme server with success and failure topics for each script. while configuring with Notification or Subscriptions, unable to find any trigger to run next workspace. am i missing anything?

Hi, I came across the following issue: using a directory and path reader (filtering for files only) and supplying an empty folder works fine (it doesn't produce any files, but that's just fine). However, say I want to skip any processing from this reader, as an innocent user I supply the Windows nul: device. Now my workspace crashes, how is that? Of course, there are a lot of ways around this problem, but wouldn't it be nice if the directory and path reader behaves in the same way like, say, the Windows dir command?

Can FME read and write features that are in ESRI's SDE.ST_GEOMETRY in an Oracle Spatial database? I have a table that is in ST_GEOMETRY, but the Oracle Spatial reader cannot show it because there is no entry in the user_sdo_geom_metadata table. I don't see an ESRI reader that would be able to read from Oracle. Likewise, when I try to write from a file geodatabase that is in ST_GEOMETRY, FME converts the geometry to SDO_GEOMETRY.Thanks

I am attempting what should be a simple renaming of attributes using the BulkAttributeRenamer however the results I am getting are applying the rename to column rather the attribute values.I am using a PostGIS reader and writer. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

I have an attribute that contains a string with ASCII control characters in it. I'd like to use the StringReplacer to either remove or replace those characters with something else. I see that I can select some characters (like the backspace character or the carriage return) from the Special Characters list inside FME's text editor, but the one I need isn't listed there. For example, the SOH (or start of heading) character is present in my data, but I can't match on it directly. What can I do to handle this?

Hi All,I am facing an issue while translating data from Oracle Spatial to ESRI Geodatabase. while translating the data using FME workbench getting error message "Unable to drop the table/feature class 'GD_EXPANSION_JOINT_point'. The error number from ArcObjects is: '-2147216072'. The error message from ArcObjects is: {FDO error: -2147216072}". i did google search for this FDO error number but did not find anything. Hi, we used to have a process where we would open up some Irish national grid in MapInfo create points and then re-save the file as British National Grid. I'm trying to replicate this in FME, however when using either the reprojector or setting within the read/write i'm seeing a few metres difference. are you able to advise?

I’m finding a strange behavior on usage of custom Transformers I create. So, I created a CustomTransformerA with all the necessary default settings/parameters. I tested it, all good, results as expected, done …. Export as Custom Transformer (tried all insert modes. Embedded always and default)Starting a new workbench I can call and insert my CustomTransformerA from gallery and make it available on my new workspace.Then if I duplicate or insert again from gallery the CustomTransformerA it will be automatically renamed to CustomTransformerA_2, CustomTransformerA_3 and so on. All fine … multiple Customs, all different names.There is my problem now – Every time I do a change in any of the customs that were duplicated or inserted from gallery, the changes are replicated across all the copies. So, my goal to use CustomTransformerA is to remove duplicate work working in isolation to any other copy of it making it reusable in diferent scenarios inside same workbench. I have a raster with text descriptions of vegetative classes that I wish to place on some points. I know the band and palette where the description resides (band 0, palette 2), which I have exposed using the RasterSelector. I can see the values correctly output in the Feature Information window of an Inspector but not in the Table View window of the Inspector. In other words, I can't find how to expose the values (text descriptions) as attributes. I've tried the ListExploder, ListIndexer, RasterPaletteExtractor, and Format Attributes of the Reader. I can see _band{}.palette{}.value listed as an attribute in the PointOnRasterValueExtractor so it seems all I need to do is expose _band{0}.palette{2}.value. The question is how? I regularly received shapefiles from helicopter flights over wildfires where the crew was mapping the perimeter of the fire. Many times these polygon shapefiles have donut holes/slivers and I have a need to remove them as part of my workflow. I'd like to build a workspace that would detect and eliminate these types of holes but cannot seem to find the right transformer. I've tried all of the donut hole tools with no success. I wonder if anyone might have some thoughts on how best to tackle this problem?Here's a typical example of the types of holes I see. Hi! I am quite new to FME, and worked my whole career so far with ArcGIS. Some things are quite easy in ArcGIS, but super confusing in FME (and vice versa). My problem is this:I have 2 shapefiles, both with many points. Of the points in shapefile A, I need to find for each point the top 5 closest point features in shapefile B (up to a maximum distance), and also know what the distance is between these points. Furthermore, I need the attributes of both shapefiles to merge. In ArcGIS this is incredibly easy, I just use 'point distance' and state the 'input' features (Shapefile A) and near features (Shapefile B), and set the maximum distance. It then automatically give me how far points in Shapefile A are form Shapefile.How do I do this in FME? The Neighborfinder seems like the tool I should use (shapefile A = base, Shapefile B = candidates), but I can't get it to work and it rejects all features (yes, it is in the same coordinate system, and both are point shapefiles)

I am attempting to run a workspace on FME Server 2017 that writes to the Adobe Illustrator - Avenza MAPublisher writer. However, I keep getting the following error: "Failed to locate Avenza MAPublisher installed on this machine." I have installed MAPublisher 9.8 on both the client workstation, as well as the server that FME Server 2017 is installed on. I have run this same workflow successfully using FME Desktop 2017. Please advise on any solutions that may explain why FME Server is not recognizing that MAPublisher is installed. Thank you.
