How to formulate the names of existing attributes using values from another attribute?

In this scenario, the source data has some attributes with names following a common pattern. e.g. test (a), test (b), test (c), etc.  We want to use all of these attributes on the left side of some test clause (in TestFilter). Instead of manually selecting every attribute, is it possible to use a formula to represent test (a), test (b), test (c)? We do have an attribute "name", whose values are a, b, c, etc. Also, the right side of the test clause can be set with the same expression, for all of these attributes. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Validate Date field

I have a date field in my excel document which I am reading into FME that contains a mixture of dd/mm/yyyy and dd/mm/yy. Unfortunately, some of the fields just have the year, e.g. 1951. with no date or month.What I'm trying to figure out is how to find just those features that have a year in the date field and then return only those to the inspector.I looked at AttributeValidator but I see it does not have Date as a Rule configuration under Type.

Obtaining all attributes with "null" and "0" values from shapefile?

Hey guys, I am trying to build a model which will give me the "null" and "0" count for a number of attributes from my shp. I have built a model using the attribute validator with the Validation Rule "Not Null" to obtain all Null values coming out from the failed output into a statistics calculator transformer where I have "_count" for Total Count Attribute: under Calculate Attributes. To obtain the "0" values for my other attributes I input my attributes in Attribute Validator and used the validation rule "Contains Regex" with the [0] rule configuration. However this is not the correct was a it will also include subsequent zeros e.g.. "10, 100, 1000 etc." My questions are; is the above method the correct and most effective way to obtain Null values and how can I use the regex function in the Attribute Validator or any other transformer to obtain "0" values?Thanks in advance:)!

How to get the Current Working Folder

Hi.I want to include the name of the "current working folder" (e.g. H:\\00-Data\\FME\\PlanningSitesForGIS) in the body of an emailer so that the recipient can see where a workspace has been run from.I am using the FME_MF_DIR parameter to do this but as it is listed separately from "current working folder" in the log, wonder if this is correct?I would also like to know if the parameters FME_MF_NAME and WORKSPACE_NAME are one and the same?Many thanks for any help

Tester failed, Inspector shows different attribute values

I'm a little confused and hope someone can help me understand why the Feature Information window in the FME Data Inspector shows a value in an attribute, yet the same feature attribute in the Table View shows as <missing>I noticed this because I have a tester that is comparing the nominal focal length fields (one is from a spreadsheet the other is from the database), and this feature is failing at the tester. I knew it had a value in the spreadsheet and database so I used the Inspector to check it.I was stumped because in the Feature Info window, 'NOMINAL FOCAL LENGTH' and 'nominal_focal_length' show the same value, so the Tester should have passed the feature. I then checked the Table View and it shows that 'NOMINAL FOCAL LENGTH' attribute has '<missing>', which must be why my tester is failing this feature.So I'm a tad stumped.

Reader: how to determine if an attribute is exposed or not?

Hi all,the following use case - please see the screen-shot: Is there any way from code side (C++ custom plugin) to determine that "CUSTOM1" shall be exposed (checked by user) but "CUSTOM2" shall NOT (unchecked by user).In the mapping file, DEF line I still see "CUSTOM2" is present.But from another site if I open saved .fmw file - FME WB knows which attributes are unchecked/checked.So FME WB is aware of that - any way to make my custom plugin (Reader) to be aware as well?Thanks!

Find the next closest date between 2 attributes

I have a list of attributes that have starting and completion dates listed for different teams. After sorting the starting date column I'm trying to use the first attributes completion date to find the next attribute in the list that has the next closest starting date, then calculate the difference in days. Below is a sample of my dataset. So far I've been unable to find a way to automate this process in my workflow. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Remove multiple underscores that separates words

I'd like my regex to replace the middle underscores with a space. I cannot seem to escape the underscore character to use with curly brackets for repetitions.I have strings with multiple underscores and spaces as word separators. I'd like my result to look like below: word1_worda wordb wordc wordd_word3Sample strings look like: sample1: Autobooster 1_Autobooster Unit_Unit_Autobooster Unit  sample2:Anchor_FIELD_VERIFIED_DATE_NonDisplay With my format these samples should result to: sample1: Autobooster 1_Autobooster Unit Unit_Autobooster Unit  sample2:Anchor_FIELD VERIFIED DATE_NonDisplay I used Lookahead and lookbehind and what I'm getting is the middle string with the underscores between word 1 and word 2 and word 2 and word 3 before and after the result. Regex below\\w(?<=_).*_?\\w(?<=_)Test string looks like belowIf I were to finish my translation I have to use StringReplacer, StringConcatenator, and then merge them back again.

File Copy Writer Error attempting to copy from when writing to Biztalk monitored fileshare

Hi, I havethis error using FME FileCopyWriter (runs on FME Server) to copy files processedby FME to a fileshare that is monitored by Biztalk. Biztalk is taking care oftransferring files to a different (and isolated) location.  We are currently testing a set of about 100 files(140Mb, mostly shapefile, jpg and wld), the final set would take about 4500files and 40Gb.I use aworkspace that reads from Excel a list of source and target locations, and a FeatureReader(PATH Reader) to read all files at the source location. Finally a File CopyWriter to write each file to the Biztalk target location.Sourcefiles are ready and static, no read/write actions on them. When running theworkspace with Biztalk services turned off things are all running fine.However, when Biztalk services are running, the process crashes with thefollowing error: 2017-08-08 09:33:07|  0.5|  0.0|INFORM|File Copy Writer: Copying file '2016_01w_O10_1_2.jpg'2017-08-08 09:33:07|  0.5|  0.0|ERROR |File Copy Writer: Error attemptin

I care about memory. What do these FME log file messages mean? FME Configuration: Process limits are 32.00 GB of physical memory and 128.00 TB of address space FME Configuration: Start freeing memory when process usage exceeds 96.00 GB of memory or 128.00 TB of address space FME Configuration: Stop freeing memory when process usage is below 72.00 GB of memory and 96.00 TB of address space I like to tell my processes what to do. How can I control the memory FME uses?

Change the width or appearence of lines in the Inspector

Dear FME community,is there a way to change the line width in the Inspector? I assume that there isn't currently such function, because it was suggested here as well:https://knowledge.safe.com/content/idea/28191/inspector-transformer-parameters-for-line-width-an.htmlHowever, perhaps somebody has an idea how to "style" the lines in the workbench, so that they are displayed differently in the inspector. I want to change for example the line width and the appearence, e.g. to have continious or dotted lines. There is for example the MapInfoStyler which we use for MapInfo data sets, but the style is only displayed in MapInfo itself, not in the FME Inspector. Our purpose is the distinguish the original lines of the former dataset and the transformed lines, which are displayed on top of each other in the Inspector. The only way I know is to buffer them, to make the one data set wider, but then they are no longer lines which is not suitable for us.Perhaps somebody has an idea of

FME Cloud - Running Scheduled Job during an FME Cloud Running Scheduled Instance

Hello,I am curious to know if the Scheduled Instance on FME Cloud would terminate a non completed job in FME Server.In this theoretical scenario I would schedule the FME Cloud Instance to be activated let's say at 10 a.m every day and that the FME Server Job would run at 10:15 every day. Under normal circumstances it would take 30 minutes to run the job and my FME Cloud Instance will be deactivated at 11 a.m . But what would happen if the FME Server Scheduled Job one day takes 1h 30 m to run, would FME Cloud Scheduled Instance wait for the job to complete?  Thank you.Lyes

Expression Evaluator - RegEx Feature Function Syntax

Code Repository For Managing Scripts Across Servers

In a situation where multiple FME servers are spun up and run standardized workbenches, what's the recommendation for managing helper scripts? We have a set of Python scripts that aid the startup/shutdown of these workbenches. But having multiple servers, it is difficult to ensure the versions of these scripts are the same across the board. Anyone have any recommendations for a code repository? We do have a subscription to Visual Studio Team Service. If anyone has used VSTS with FME server, I am interested to hear about your experenice in that as well.

How can I move a solution from my development environment to the test environment and ultimately production?

We are risk averse here at Lizard Inc. and we utilize a a three stage dev/test/prod environment to ensure that no bad code or configurations get into our production system. Production must work!!How can we move a working solution from an FME Server development installation to a testing/staging installation and ultimately to our production install?

Using IN command in InlineQuerier

I have two datasets that I am currently working on:1) DBF12) DBF2I need to lookup for Description (in DBF1) in DB2 within the columns I1 to I8 and >> to return the corresponding DMA to Inflow field if a match is found OR>> to display a space if no match foundThe result would look as follows:Currently, I am using the InlineQuerier with IN statement, but it truncates the result when there is no match. The NOT IN command displayed irrelevant results as well.Please suggest a solution which may be SQL or Non SQL based.

How do I compare tables with mismatching schemas when using the UpdateDetector?

I have two datasets to compare: an original table and a revised table. I want to pass them through the UpdateDetector to track Updates, Inserts, and Deletes. The two tables are linked by a shared primary key attribute, and I want to track changes that may exist in another attribute; however, the original table has an extra attribute, ExtraID, which does not exist in the revised table. For features that exit the Updated port, this ExtraID loses its value. How do I retain the values in ExtraID and prevent them from exiting the UpdateDetector as NULL?

What's the best way to handle calculations for filtered attributes?

I have a Culvert table with 90K rows. Each culvert belongs to one of 7 size categories. Each category uses a different formula to calculate a culvert's replacement cost. I'm currently using TestFilter to define the size categories. I then route each output to its own ExpressionEvaluator. Is there a way to use a single transformer with a CASE statement to accomplish the same thing?

Is it possible to modify a DTED 2 (.dt2) file through FME Desktop?

I have some DTED2 files that I am using to retrieve elevation values from WGS84 coordinates. I would like to modify certain elevation values in the DTED2 file for certain WGS84 coordinates, becuause I have surveyed them with highly accurate GPS equipment and have found certain values to be incorrect. Is this something that FME Desktop is capable of doing.

How do I create an attribute of all coordinate pairs for the vertices of a polygon?

I have a polygon feature of almost 700k records with a lot of vertices for each polygon (a lot of coastlines etc) and I need to create a csv with a record for each polygon including a list of coordinate pairs for the vertices of the polygon in the format y1 x1, y2 x2, y3 x3... I was doing this by extracting the coordinates into a list and then creating an attribute of coordinate pairs and aggregating all of those pairs into another attribute by UUID. However, I was only able to do this by generalizing the polygons in order to get this workspace to actually run. If I remove the generalization (preferred), then when the polygons are exploded into lists of vertices the workspace runs out of memory before it can aggregate all back together to get the attribute of coordinate pairs. I think I need to do this without creating a list. I've tried using a geometry extractor instead of the coordinate extractor and creating an XML attribute, but I still cannot figure out how to get the format
