I am using Update write to do updates to a version in esri geodatabase and wonder how to I tell the writer to only update attributes and not geometry. Has anyone done something similar? Thanks!

I'm trying to automate feature extraction from a secured ArcGIS Server feature service. I have a username and password, but when I try only using those credentials in the reader, it tells me I need a token. I can generate a token manually through the REST service page using my credentials, and it works in the FME job I have, but I'm not sure how to automate the process now. I'm using the token workspace provided by @todd_davis in the thread referenced above, and the token is getting generated correctly since I can view it in the inspector, plug it into the other workspace I'm trying to automate, and it runs fine. The problem is, I can't figure out how to pass it to a feature reader or other FME workspace that will authenticate and allow the wo

Hi guys,I am trying to setup a workbench to download data from various feature servers. the reader's format is Esri ArcGIS Server Feature Service and i use feature writer to write the data.I've been having this below error notice once a while, but it's normally gone after i re-run it after a while. Python Exception <HTTPError>: 502 Server Error: BAD_GATEWAY for url- Is there a way I can setup in my workbench to let it keep running after one of the readers has this error? - Can I let the workbench re-run that reader after receiving this error?Thanks

This way I can mess a little with a the workspace without throwing my Is it possible to add this 5-click procedure as a nifty custom "macro" in the Workbench GUI toolbar ?I.e. save workspace as mapping file with the same name and in same folder, prompting for overwrite if required.Cheers.

Hi,I am trying to calculate the width from a polygon at point feature locations (see figure). I was thinking about creating perperdicular linen at the point feature locations (perpendicular to polygon). Clipping the perpendicular lines (using the polygon as clipper) and calculating the length of the perpendicular lines. Is there an easier way to do this?Kind regardsMichael

Hi all,I have a polygon layer representing the sealed area of our road network with numerous attributes about the road. I also have a road centreline layer which has no attribute information. I want to get the road polygon attributes applied the appropriate centreline. The obvious transformer is the LineOnAreaOverlayer, however, this creates a lot of 'stub' centrelines that get associated with an intersecting road (please see image for an example). In the example, a small section of Road 2 is given the attributes of Road 1.So far the methodology that I have come up with is to:1. assign a unique identifier to each centreline2. process through the LineOnAreaOverlayer3. determine the lengths of each segment 4. combine segments based on unique identifier 5. use the attributes of segment with the greatest length for the attributes of the centrelineIts not ideal as there is potential for error, so I would be keen to see if anyone else could come up with a better methodology.Thanks as

Hi,I'm trying to get a Riegl laser scanning project (.RDB or .RSP) into FME. I'm able to add a Reader, but when I attach an Inspector or otherwise add any transformer, it fails. This is the error message:"RDB Reader: Invalid dataset. File '.rds' does not exist. Please ensure both a data and an index file exist in folder '' and you have sufficient privileges to read them."How can I best prepare a Riegl scan for FME proccessing? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi all.I Need some help. I have two ESRI shapes, the yellow one and a pink one.Both have a column named ID with the values shown below. The red label is for the pink areas and the black label belongs to the yellow areas.The yellow areas can completly be overlapped by each other. (area 800 is under area 700)I want all to be "clipped" and joined between the pink and the yellow based on the ID column. I need the result as shown in the second image, the blue hatched resulting areas in a shape file.Any ideas?

Hello,anyone knows how to read STEP files which contain 3D objests? It seems that Parasolid platform is much overlooked in FME. I am not particularly fond of Parasolid, however it is quite a widespread industry standard.Any comments are welcome.

I am running into something while trying to read a DWG file and handle the data based on layers. I set up the reader with 'Group Entities By Layer Name' and most layers are being sent to my writer as Feature Types, with one exception: There is one Feature Type that seems to contain data from several layers, as in this example:The Feature Type is A208, while the autocad_layer is A234. Both A208 and A234 are available as Feature Types from the reader, but the A234 reader contains no data. The data on layer A234 (and other layers) can be exported from A208. I found a workaround on this by exposing autocad_layer in A208 and take it from there, but in a different setting I may have missed it. Is there something special with these layers that make them come "grouped" up like this, and how can I determine if my DWG files have things like this? I'm a GIS person, not a CAD person, and Autocad is a bit alien to me...

Hi, I am trying to read a multipatch geometry from ESRI File Geodatabase and getting the following error:FME API version of module 'FILEGDB' matches current internal version (3.8 20170315) FileGDB Reader: Feature class '*****' has shape type 'esriGeometryMultiPatch' which is unknown to FME. Skipping feature class (I am using OSX version of FME Desktop 2017.1, build 17539). I was wondering if it's supported on Windows with FGDB (ArcObject based format). Is MultiPatch Geometry reading supported by FME using Shapefiles?I appreciate any advice on this (puzzling for me) question.Kind regards,Alexander

Hello,I implemented a workflow that read a shp file, does some basic elaboration and writes the result in an Oracle table.I call the input file using a variable.Now, if I modify the input (more record but with the same structure), I receive this message in a window in FME Desktop:"Unexpected Input: During translation, some feature were read that did not match a reader feature type in the workspace. This can happen if the reader dataset if changed, or a reader feature type removed or renamed."If I execute the same workflow in FME Server, I don't receive any error message, but zero feature are written in oracle.Any idea about this strange behaviour? What can I do to better investigate?Thanks.

With FeatureReader, if an AutoCAD file is dynamically assigned as the Dataset via attribute, how can we filter geometries on certain layers by the layer names? Here is the image of the transformer's property definition showing the specific ports manually entered which was later ignored.

I 'am reading a Json file that contains a timestamp. I need to convert this to a date so that I can aggregate other data on Year, Month.I've tried using an attributemananger (@value/86400)+25569+(-5/24) and DatConverter to convert the timestamp but this didn't gave me any results.Therefore my question how to do this?

In a JSONTemplater I am using fme:get-attribute to insert the value of an attribute created in the workspace with an AttributeCreator.  The attribute is a represents a status code, so it should be interpreted as an integer, however the JSONTemplater always interprets it as a string, despite all my attempts at forcing it to integer.  Using @int(fme:get-attribute("_statuscode")) results in a TCL error (apparently the @int function is being evaluated before the fme:get-attribute function).  Also tried using an ExpressionEvaluator with @int(1.0) but this is still interpreted as a string.  Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi! I have one problem with coordinates of my objects. For example, I created a simple cube in Revit and exported to IFC file. After that I opened file in FME Data Inspector and I have 24 vertices or coordinates instead of 8 which I think I should have. So they are tripled. Therefore, when I calculate volume it is three times bigger. On the other hand, area calculator works fine. Is there any possibility to remove coordinates and leave only one for each vertex or maybe something else is a problem?
