Speeding up a workspace runner

Hi folks,This is my first post here so apologies if this is a basic question. I have a quick one about a workspace runner operation I am using. I have a project that makes sense and is working but I'm looking at trying to make it more efficient.It takes 2 files, workspace runner passes it file A, the workspace runs and matches variables in A to another static file, file B. then outputs the resulting file in File C. This all makes sense. It works beautifully.However it would be nice if I could read file B once as oppose to every time the work space runner fires off a process. It's a static file and quite big, and I have about 17,000+ file As to process, loading in File B for each of these is a massive drain on time. Is it possible to 'preload' a file for a workspace runner? I've looked everywhere for an answer but not seen anything that leads to an answer.

Adding a new field to an existing Feature Class

I am trying to add a new attribute to a feature class in CMDM Geodatabase. This attribute is going to be FEATID, I tried to use AttributeManager, and the user attributes in writer properties but none of them worked. Is it possible to update a geometry to NULL with a geodatabase writer?

I am updating attributes for esri geodatabase feature classes which also participate in relationship classes. The attributes, including the geometry can change to NULL. How can I realize this? @RobynAtSafe, any idea?

I am using FeatureMerger, I want to join the feature class with an excel sheet. Is there any way to add the attributes of the excel sheet to feature class without dropping?

Clipping 3D contour lines with multiple regions

Hi all,I'm pretty new to this and don't have a very good idea of what things are possible using FME. I'll try to describe what I want to do below.I have a big dataset(.shp) containing 3D contour lines of New York City and I have another dataset containing 2d polygons representing neighborhoods in NYC.I want to clip the contour lines within each region and save it separately to a dwg file. So the result would be multiple dwg files, each containing a 2d polygon and only contour lines withing that polygon. I tried exporting all to one dwg file but it results in a very big file that autocad cannot handle opening. Any ideas?

How can i connect to oracle if my password contains @ symbol in it

Hi Team,fme 2016Both reading and writing to oracle spatial.My customer has @ symbol in his oracle password string.in my fmw file, oracle connection string is published parameter, and user has to pass the easy connect string to this parameter likeuser1/x3#@rtye@mydbnow there are two @ symbols and fme treats rtye@mydb as dbname and fails to connect.but thru oracle's sqlplus i can connect. not from fme.and if i give these three parameter separately to sql executor it works good. how can i connect with just one text string with @ symbol in password? please help.there are lot of fmws developed and i exposed connection string as published parameter

Keep only unique value on a concatenate attribute

Hi everybody,I've a new question, I'm creating a "concatenate attribut" with an aggragator, and I would like to only keep unique values on that concatenate attribut. At the moment, I've this kind of results "0.1,0.1,0.1,0.2", and I would like to just keep "0.1, 0.2".I've tried a lot of things, with lists etc... but I failed, to find a way to do that.Do you have any advice to do that ?Kind regards,Nicolas

How to use a value without creating a new feature?

I am flattening a complex 3D building into its outline and then I want to use its max height to extrude the footprint. This works until I want to use the max height I extracted as variable for the extrusion; instead of just using the value, the AttributeCreator (NA: ExtrudeHeight, AV: _max) creates two features, one with just the extrusion attribute + value, and the other with just the attribute, but empty. How do I just write the number into the attribute field of the geometry?

JavaScript/NodeJS PluginBuilder...Future of JavaScript in FME

I have looking at your pluginbuilder api, and have also played a little with your JavascriptCaller transformer. I am wondering if there is any intention of developing a pluginbuilder api for NodeJS? I think this is really interesting as there are so many developers out there as well as libraries that are available in NodeJS and seems like a nice fit for FME. Also, from my own perspective, I am working on some D3 visualizations that I would like to incorporate as a transformer in FME. This would involve using some outside libraries that would be required in the transformer as well.I can already see that for example /node_modules is in the module path and was able as a test to drop lodash in there and require it inside the JavaScriptCaller. Not sure if this is your recommended approach?Anyway, there is not a lot of discussion right now about using javascript and NodeJS in the knowledgebase, maybe someone could share whether there is a future here or not. Workspace log file is remembered !?

Hi,I recently needed to run the same workspace (command line) with two different target setups, but I wanted to see separate log files for each run. Simplified example:fme.exe myworkspace.fme --p1 ABC --p2 DEFfme.exe myworkspace.fme --p1 XYZ --p2 KLMSo I had FME create a workspace parameter (--LOG_FILE) for this value. This value is normally blank, prompting FME to use the workspace file path with "log" extension.I.e. my setup had the first run without a value, and the second run with a value for the log file..However, I found out, that the value given in the second run are somehow reused in the first run at a later time !?!Is this a correct observation, that FME somehow caches the last parameter values given to the workspace, and reuses these whenever the same workspace is run at a later time (and no other values are provided) ??I got my two runs to work only when both set the "LOG_FILE" parameter.Cheers.

Auto updating Reader CSV

HiI have a workbench that takes a csv file and creates 10 csv files , 1 for each site - it does this using AttributeFilter. This works great but the csv reader gives the last 8 months of data with each month as a column. So the first version we ran had Nov to Jun. This latest month is Jan to Aug. So every time we run this the attributes change and I had to manually update this last time. Is there a way of automatically picking up new attributes from the reader and adding them to the writer (and removing any no long needed) please?I'd ideally like to schedule this with server but I can't unless this is automatic. Thanks

Bug using NeighborFinder in FME Server 2016.0

Using FME Server 2016.0 (build 16177), a NeighborFinder fails to do its job properly. Not all features input features result in output features in any of the output ports. Testing this on FME Desktop 2016.0 (build 16177), the issue - of course - remains. Testing this on FME Desktop 2016.1 (20160419), the issue is no more. It seems to me that this is a bug in either the NeighborFinder or the FME build. However, as both 2016.0 and 2016.1 use the NeighborFinder version 14, the latter seems to be the only logical cause for this behaviour.My question is this: Can I solve this problem without having to upgrade the FME Server version to a newer version? I need a workaround for this bug in FME 2016.0, using FME 2016.0.

FME Workbench 2017.1 won't start when FME_JVM_DEBUG_PORT is added as an Environment Variable? What has changed?

This environment variable allows a developer to attach to the FME session to debug. In FME 2016, the workbench starts and I can debug or not debug the session. Now in FME 2017, the workbench never starts. Why?

How to write all points to a multipoint feature class, even if there is a single point

I have a multipoint feature class in an Enterprise Geodatabase that I need to copy over to a File Geodatabase. The problem is that not every feature in the feature class has multiple points. Only ~2% of the features have multiple points, but it is critical I retain the option to have multiple points. The problem is that the FME File Geodatabase writer will only copy over just those features that are represented by multiple points (selecting multipoint as the geometry) or just those features that are represented by a single point (selecting point as the geometry). How do I get FME to accept all of the points as potential multipoints and write everything in the File geodatabase?

Some of the FME scripts developed in 2017 version not working in 2016 version

Some FME scripts developed in 2017 version are not working in 2016 version. See the attached zip file for details. It seems like the transformers that are not working in these specific scripts are 'DatabaseJoiner' and 'FeatureMerger'.What are the alternate solutions ?

Custom coordinate system for EPSG:3275

Executing Variable Setter and Variable Retriever in the right order

Hi there!Working with FME Desktop 16.1.2.1 in a rather complex FME Workspace I decided recently to reorganize the FME Workspace such that it would become a little less complex to maintain the Workspace. Certain attribute values, that were used in multiple occasions in different parts within the Workspace, were before distributed based on FeatureMergers based on common attributes and attribute values (tempid = 1 for all incoming features) and making use of AttributeKeepers to keep the amount of data processing small and let only those attributes through that are actually needed. In that case the order of adding attributes to features is defined and this works splendid (but makes the FME Workspace perhaps a little more complex than needed and less elegant to read).In order to simplify the Workspace I decided to use VariableSetters and VariableRetrievers throughout the Workspace such that less FeatureMergers and hence less connections are needed, simplifying the Workspace. 100% Stacked Bar Chart

Is it possible for FME to create a 100% Stacked Bar Chart, given the following scenario?I have 7 years of roadway data (2010-2016)Each year contains a count of miles classified as Good, Fair, and Poor. ArcSDEQuerier

Many of our ArcSDE connections are OS Authentication and not username/password. How can I connect to the SDE instance with ArcSDEQuerier? It seems that the ESRI Geodatabase reader/writer uses a connection file but the Querier doesn't.
