I went through an express install on and Amazon EC2 instance, upgrading it from FME Server 2016 (and cunningly skipping 2017). Everything went smoothly until I went to startServer and it complained about [ec2-user@ip-10-140-151-106 fmeserver]$ Mar 21, 2018 9:00:05 PM org.postgresql.Driver connectSEVERE: Connection error: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: Connection to localhost:7082 refused. Check that the hostname and port are correct and that the postmaster is accepting TCP/IP connections.   This looks like a problem with the default FME Server database, but I don't know enough about postgres config or Red Hat to know what to do to appease it. I got as far as opening port 7082 on the instance through the AWS/EC2 control panel and when that made me cringe, I determined I no longer know what I am doing and need help.   If you can, please help! -Fuad

Hi Everyone,I am writing to the AVF writer and then using the AVF reader in separate workbench. However, I noticed that there are two different naming conventions for Level _Ids under Sections category. See attached pictures. Is there a reason why they are different? I know that in the AVF Writer, it is a list, but the AVF Reader does not show it as a list. When I run the AVF reader in my workbench, level_id does not exist. I am using FME 2018. Thanks!David

Hi,We have a proces, that converts some schema-less XMLs into MS/SQL. The output definition is set to "Automatic".It now seems, that later versions of the XML files include more attributes than the original versions. These new attributes are output as-is, but cannot be seen in the workspace.I've tried to update the reader feature types, but even though the attributes are present in the data files, they don't show up in the workspace.How can I by default remove all "unknown" attributes coming from the XML files ?Oughtn't the Attribute Manager have an option for this ?Cheers.

If we use a shape file reader in FME desktop we only need to pick the shp-file but not the other parts like dbf, shx etc. FME desktop recognizes all parts of the shape file and we can start our workflow.If we publish the same workspace to the server and use a published parameter for the shape file then we need to upload all parts of the shape file as a temporary data upload to FME server. If one of the parts is missing then our workflow will not run. How can we check (in advance?) if all necessary parts of a shape file were temporary uploaded to FME server?Best regards,Frank

I have FME Cloud setup to run a workspace when it receives an e-mail. The workspace was previously in another repository that is now deleted, but still tries to run the deleted one as well as the current one. I have rebooted the server but have not been able to figure out why the workspace that no longer exists is trying to run.The workspace in the current repo will run successfully, but it will also try to run the deleted workspace as well.statusMessage File Field Data Processing/FileNameValidation/FileNameValidation.fmw could not be opened 

I am having a problem with the TopologyBuilder transformer. I have "Assume clean data" set to "No", but it is not cleaning the data properly. Some of the edges are broken up according to the other lines, but others are not. These images are the result of my TopologyBuilder transformer, with the vertical line in the middle starting as one long line before being sent to it. As you can see from the highlights, some of the lines are not being split properly.I have zoomed in on these features as far as I can go with QGIS and I do not see a gap between them. I would assume that this is due to some imprecision in the snapping tolerance but I cannot find such a parameter to adjust.This is the transformer as seen in the workbench:

Hi,I created an FME workbench which reads an esri line feature class thethen assigns a color based on an attirbute to create a KML file that is color coded. I want t to put this up on my fme server. at the moment it only reads a specific feature class file from a folder on my c:. In future I would like to run my workspace on FME server and throw any feature class or file GDB into my C: folder and if it has the attribute field to assign colors then the process will run and create the color coded Kml.I'm not sure what transformer to use for the input and what other options I have in FME server to upload the file.any ideas would helpthanks

Hi all.I've got a tab file that I run a few queries against it to pull out some values which based on a published parameter used for the query. The results are then written into an Excel tableIn this case the publish parameter ‘LEASE NAME’ used in the query has extracted the Collingwood 3 data from dataset. Seven records were extracted however I’d like to make those into a single record that contains data from each attribute where present. Additional I want to sum the values in the length columns.At the moment it looks like this.But I want it to look like this.What should I be doing to get this result? Thanks a heapMichael

I am trying to connect to an oracle database. I had a chat with Steve at Safe and I added the connection information in the tnsnames.ora file and added an environmental variable pointing to the tnsnames.ora. I was really hoping that I had done everything that I needed. However, I am still getting the ora-12154 error message. Thank you in advance for your assistance. I am trying to convert a dataset from XML (KuntaGML) to shape but cant get it to behave properly. I am using a dynamic workspace and the output is 80:ish shapefiles. Everything exports but loses its coordinate system and gets is geometry from the first feature read. I have tried adding the desired coordinate system up in the left corner of the workspace but it only seems to be written to half, or so, of the files output. As for the geometry I have tried both "from schema" and "first feature defines geometry" none of them make any difference, everything is output as points, even though all geometries are in the XML. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,Almost overnight, the help dialog prompted by the help buttons on the transformer settings dialogs stopped working.I was using 2017.1 x64 (build 17650), but it fails in every version installed, both 32 and 64 bit.The only change from earlier is that I've recently installed 2018.0 on the machine.The help dialog opens, but it never gets any content. If I paste an url into the help dialog address bar, it works however. So it looks like it's the initiation command to the help dialog that's failing.The "Documentation Help Locations" in the "FME Options" seem to be in order.Any insights on how to remedy this is appreciated.

Hello,I have around 200 rasters (in ascii format, all in the same folder) that need to be converted into polygons based on a certain threshold pixel value (as an example, for one of the rasters the final polygon should include any pixels above 0.4). Unfortunately, the big issue is that the threshold value changes for each raster (0.4 in my example, but could be 0.5, 0.6, etc for other rasters). I have an excel table with the raster name and associated threshold value but I can't figure out how to make a workflow where the raster name is then used to lookup the matching value in the excel table and then use that value in the RasterExpressionEvaluator and subsequent RastertoPolygonCoercer transformer.Thank you for any help!

Hello,I am trying to insert vertices at the end of lines, using the vertexcreator and 'insert point at index'.To do this I am using -1 for the index, but this adding the vertex at the point one before last (see image). How can I get the extra vertex to be at the end?Thanks, Owen
