Is-it possible to do a Dynamic Segmentation on descriptive tables?

Hi,In the question https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/44413/lineonlineoverlayer-in-dynamic-segmentation.htmlLineOnlineOverLayer is used to have the desired table. If I have the same first 2 tables (without geometries) and I’d like to do the segmentation before creating geometries to get the desired result like in the example, Is-it possible to do that? thanks

When will the DWG format changes in AutoCAD 2018 be supported in FME?

Hi guys,does anyone know if / when the DWG format changes in AutoCAD 2018 will be supported in FME? Will it be in FME 2018.0 or is it in 2017.1?There's some brief info about the format changes on the AutoCAD website here "There are no specific changes that you need to make to use your existing drawing files with the latest release, but you might need to save any new drawing files that you create to an earlier drawing file format to exchange or use them in a previous release."The current FME documentation states that there is support for "reading and writing AutoCAD file versions up to and including 2013"CheersBatesy

Publishing Web Connections in FME Server 2017

Are web connections different from database connections when uploading to FME Server 2017? I have a named connection that I've already uploaded. When publishing, it shows as needing to be uploaded again. But when I try to upload it it says "Named connection already exists". When I uncheck the upload box it says "connection will be unavailable on FME Server". It looks like if I publish the workspace and ignore the "connection will be unavailable" message, it still works. Is this a known issue in 2017.1? I'm using Build 17539. @SteveAtSafe

Extremely slow workbench GUI - any optimization planned?

Hello,FME workbench has a strong tendency to take longer and longer to perform editing tasks (NOT translation) the bigger the workspace gets.Disclaimer: My workspace contains over 2100 transformers and I am aware that editing transformer links upstream will cause FME to recalculate downstream. However, my frustration is due to the fact that even minor modifications to very small independent workflows in the workspace seem to trigger the same recalculation as the workbench becomes unresponsive for 5-15 seconds every time I do something. This even happens when i move a transformer without altering any workspace logic. It even happens when I move an unconnected transformer! Extremely debilitating to productivity.Is this a known issue / any optimization planned?Using FME Workbench on Windows x64 2016.1. Confirmed on multiple PCs.

Custom webapps location

Hi,We have some apps based on examples from FME Playground. I wonder how to deploy them and transfer except that manually? I used to put them directly into FME Server's tomcat webapps folder. But there is no way to include them into Project and thus, backup them.Maybe it would be possible to add ability to easily add URL redirection to a folder inside repository on FME server. That way including Repository folder inside a project will include web app as well.Thanks,

Use parameters in DatabaseJoiner

I noticed that I cannot use parameter values inside the DatabaseJoiner. Am I missing something? An example:When fetching a user parameter to use it is an attribute, the DatabaseJoiner joins another attribute from an excel file to my feature (upper part in the screenshot). When using the user parameter directly to join attributes from an excel, the transformer parameter button shows red and there is not output. The user parameter has its property 'Attribute Assignment' set to 'Default'. I found no relevant information on the forum or in the documentation of the DatabaseJoiner. Could anyone come up with a reason? The workaround using a ParameterFetcher solves the problem easily, but I was wondering why it is not possible to use a parameter directly. I am using FME 2017.1.0.0 (Build 17539 - WIN64). In the zip file you can find my example workspace and data.

Why does AttributeRenamer cut data type width?

I'm importing data from a ArcGIS .gdb to a POSTGIS DB using FME Desktop 2016. For this I need first to rename single attribute names using the AttributeRenamer transformer. My poblem is that, reader attributes with width 254 (data type "text") are automatically transformed to writer width 200 (type "varchar"). Why does FME cut the width of the attributes, is it a bug? However, this issue only appears when I use an AttribruteRenamer. I also tryied the BulkAttributeRenamer, which retrieves the same. Any ideas? Thanks

FME Automation and Multiple Instances

I am able to automate FME Desktop using FMEObjectsDotNet4 using a single instance of FME. I am launching multiple tasks in parallel but it seems that only 1 FME.exe instance is active, although there are multiple fmeobjectsworker.exe items showing up in task manager. I have seen reference to Maximum Number of Concurrent Workspaces on the workspace runner but have not figured out how to properly set this.

Dynamic database connection with published parameters

Hi,I am working on a workflow that can do some simple calculations on different data sets but within just one database of my choosing. Each project has its own database with tables(data sets) and i would like to connect to them by just giving FME the pXXX project number and data set number. I tried to use published parameters to set the same values that i normally use in a more static workflow. This ends up in an error when adding the reader.Undefined macro `database' dereferenced in file `'Program TerminatingTranslation FAILED.Workspace generation failed. Parameter file was C:\Users\Jeroen.GPA\AppData\Local\Temp\FME_1510569791750_7796.Is it not possible to set the database into a parameter or do i need to save it as something else than text? Or is there another way to get dynamic connections to different databases on the same server(login credentials are the same for all tables and databases on that host and port).edit: i, of course, filled in the host, port and other information tha

I am trying to manually geocode some addresses, and am having a hard time developing the correct workflow to acheive this. I have a dataset coming from a SQL database that is full of addresses with unknown coordinates. I am geocoding with a CSV file that I have created that contains the addresses compiled from county auditor websites with the associated latitude and longitude fields for each address. I am starting with FeatureMerger because if both address fields are an exact match then this works perfect. -- address geocoded successfully. However some addresses will not match based on different suffix types. (i.e. ROAD vs. RD or HIGHWAY vs HWY) I have added a string replacer transformer to the workflow to trim off the suffixes that could eliminate the addresses from matching via a rubular expression. The part I am struggling with is how do I compare these fields again after I have trimmed off the various suffixes? I have attached a picture of my workflow.

what transformers to use to match polygon sides to polylines

[FME 2015.0 as Data Interoperability in ArcCatalog 10.3] I have polygons that represent parcel data from two different counties. I also have polylines in a .dgn file that represents the actual parcel lines based on a survey. I thought of running a routine to close the survey data to polygons but many of the lines are only partial lines (i.e. only one side of a parcel) so they need to remain polylines. I ran a script to isolate only those dgn layers that represent parcel lines and created a separate shape file. I would like to run a routine that will compare the survey polylines and the polygons and show me if any of the sides don't match. I will ignore the matches but want to update any polygon sides to match the survey data. (I added a CoordinateRounder to 2 decimal places for both input files to address coordinate rounding). So after I find the non-matches I want to change the polygon edge to be the same as the polylines within a tolerance. The polylines from the dgn will not be

Duplicate values in string

I have the following string with duplicate values "Lighting; Lighting; Roads; Streets; Roads; " inside an attribute. I know there isn't a transformer to handle this apart from the StringElementDuplicateRemover custom transformer, is there another simpler solution to this?

Engines performance issue

We have a 4 vcpu server and just added a 4th engine. When all 4 engine run concurrently, CPU usage goes up 100%. In order to optmize performances, should we add core to our vCPU or add vCPU. My understanding is that an engin runs on only one core, therefore adding vCPU wouldn't help, wheras adding core to a vCPU could help optmize parallel processing?Tks.

Removing Duplicates in a table from Multiple Fields

I'm working on removing duplicates in a list, but need to filter this based on multiple fields. I can remove duplicates with only one field easily, but am having trouble where it relies on multiple fields. Scenario: Where a Business has the same name/address duplicates need to be removed. However if a Business has the same name, but a different address, I want it kept in the list. Example: Name Address Action McDonalds 123 Brown Street - Keep McDonalds 123 Brown Street - Remove McDonalds 999 South Road - Keep Burger King 999 South Road - Keep Where I'm at now all I can output is: McDonalds 123 Brown Street Burger King 999 Sourh Road My actual list has about 15,000 records. Any help would be much appreciated.

User Parameters and RegEx

The attached workspace demonstrates the problems I'm having with @ReplaceRegEx and user parameters. StringReplacer - Regex on json formatted text

Hello,I am trying to modify the contents of a series of json files, though I only need to remove all of the leading text before the "{"rings"" text. I will have upwards of 130 files to go through, and each has slightly different text to remove. I was thinking of using a StringReplacer to find all the text that I want to remove, then just set the "Replacement Text" to nothing. I'm assuming I need to use regex in the StringReplcaer to identify the series of text in each file that I need to remove. Run dissolver on surface in 3D

I have a collection of surfacess that want to run a Dissolver on. The problem is that while all the surfaces are planar, they are in 3D-space and aren't necessarily parallel to the XY-plane. Dissolver seems to only work with 2D surfaces. Any ideas? Thanks Dag

Is FME Server compatible with ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Engine?

I'm a novice in Python so excuse me if I ask something stupid. I read a lot pieces written on this subject but I can't get it to work...I would like to use ArcPy on FME server 2016.1. Attribute Hider

Does FME have a transformer for "hiding", as opposed to "removing" an attribute? I am using the FeatureReader to dynamically read a feature class that is specified by parameter. This script is then called for many feature classes. The attributes of any one feature class are thus not exposed.However, for some features I need to access the ID field of the feature class, for example, "FID". I do this by an AttributeExposer in a custom transformer that is only called for a particular feature class. But I don't want the ID field to carry on as an attribute when it is time to write the feature class to the output table. It would be great if I could then "un-expose", or "hide" the attribute, back to the level of visibility it had when I used the feature reader. Is it possible?
