Hi all,I'm trying to download files (in this case zip files), which are in a parent folder on an ftp. The folder name changes once a week, when new updates are uploaded. I would like to automaticly download the updated files once a week, but it seems that the ftp caller has some limitations in that department - (asterix and subfolders). I have searched the forum for answers, but haven't really found a solution yet. I've seen suggestions using python caller and ftp caller combined, but I dont really do python :-) Any suggestions? Thanks

I am trying to generate a JSON message to update editing templates on an AGOL Feature Service. I've got most of it complete. I am having trouble with the last piece though.  Each Editing Template has a list of fields and defaults like this: I am trying to generate 27 unique editing templates based on unique pairs of 2 attributes. The portion of the JSON text I am struggling with is the ["types"]["templates"]["prototype"]["attributes"] section. I have the correct number of "types" (27). I have the correct fields and corresponding default values.  As you can see, I am getting an extra pair of "},{" between each field as compared to the example above. Almost like each row is it's own unique element. I am sending 594 features into the "EDITEMPLATEFIELDS" sub template and grouping the process by '_editTemplatePairs' attribute as these contain 27 unique field configurations for all 22 fields in the editin

Hello, Let's say i have an excel table containing multiple attributes and features, and I would like to output in an excel table a summary of the unique values for each attributes. Using duplicate filters I managed to get the results but they are ordered in rows in order of arrival instead of being nested for each attribute. Example with three attributes:ID ----- Name ------CityA1 -----Mark -------MoscowA2 ------Paul -------GlasgowA1 -----Joanna ---CapetownA3------ Paul -------Glasgow  Then in excel I get three columns but the results are spread in the order of arrival of results for each column unique values: Column A -- Column B -- Column CA1A2A3--------------Joanna--------------Paul--------------Mark --------------------------------Glasgow---------------------------------Moscow-------------------------------- Capetown Instead of having the results over various lines, I would like to get the unique values on top of each column. Is there a way to do so ? Maybe working with lists ?

Hello, I'm doing the unit "Publish your Self-Serve Workspace to the Web" as part of the training "Integrate Your Data with the FME Platform". That unit tells me to change the parameter "Destination Generic (Any Format) Folder" of the writer, to a location on the FME Server. If I change that parameter to the FME Server, and run the workspace locally, it seems to store the output in the same folder as the workspace. I would like to store it in a different local folder when running locally. That way, I can use the same workspace both locally and on the server. Is it possible for the workspace to detect if it's running locally? If so, then I can configure it to save to a specific local folder. If not, I can configure it to save to a specific FME Server folder. So far I've tried:Log File. Potentially the workspace could see if "FME_HOME is 'C:\\Program Files\\FME\\'", which implies that it's running locally.Workspace Parameters

I am new to FME and going through the unit "Quickly Create a Conversion Workflow " of "Integrate Your Data with the FME Platform". In that unit, we create a reader to a PostGIS database. My understanding is that what we see on the canvas is just the "feature types" of that database, aka individual tables. I thought that they would all connect to the same "reader" in the background. But when I added two new readers to the canvas (marked 2 and 3 in the image), they created brand-new readers in the navigator. Even in the case of reader 3, which has the exact same parameters as reader 1!Can you please suggest if there's any way to modify the feature type marked 3, to make it use the reader marked 1? When I open the feature type's properties, they are greyed out. The only options I see right now are:keep both readers and maintain "connection parameters" in both, orrecreate that feature type from reader 1 and manually configure it as

I have been given a huge spreadsheet containing countless series of identical columns that are duplicated many times, with a prefix in front of each that indicates some kind of property of the data. I now want to reformat these data so that the duplicate columns are replaced with unique columns and the attributes that were used to separate the columns become attributes in the data instead. Please see simplified attachment (and screenshot, below) which shows the "Current format" and "Desired format" sheets. CurrentDesired I've tried several things, none of which are giving me the results I want:Adding an AttributeCreator to create a separate, duplicated pipeline for each of the types (Apple, Banana, Orange, etc.) and then BulkAttributeRenamer on each to remove the prefix of the column based on the attribute I created. Hello, I’m looking for a way to classify (order) the lists within a list attribute. Essentially I need all lists that have a “phase” value of ‘R’ to be on listattribute{0}…all list values that have a “phase” value of ‘Y’ to be stored in listattribute{1}…and all list values that have a “phase” value of ‘B’ to be stored in listattribute{2}.  Using List Sorter, I am able to accomplish this as long as there is a list for all three phases. The data sometime has only 1 or 2 phase values (example: Y and B, but no R). If I sort the lists that only have two phase values, “Phase” = ‘Y’ ends up in listattribute{0}. How do a force a blank list value for ‘R’, so that ‘Y’ still gets stored in listattribute{1} and ‘B’ gets stored in listattribute{2}?.... listattribute{0} could remain blank  These lists need to be structured correctly so that I can run them through an XML Templater and have them placed in the correct spot in the XML. Update - I have attached the workspace and the xml template that cal

using FME Desktop, i have a workspace that looks at two databases and generates a csv with information from one database that is not found within the other database. i need to then send that csv file to someone via an email, however, the csv file contains 11k rows and the emailer is trying to send 11k emails. how do i send one email with the csv as an attachment?

It's quite possible I'm missing something rather obvious here. But I can't figure it out. Funny how when searching the web what I stumble upon is my own post from a year ago. What I have put together since is a workspace that reads CSV and spits out JSON. I've published this to FME Server (2020.2) and selected "Data Streaming" and "Job Submitter" as services. Now, I'm sending a CSV file from a web page to FME Server using some of the examples here, and effectively calling the workspace with a Javascript line like this:FMEServer.runWorkspaceWithData( repository, workspace, params, callbackFunction);This works great but all I've been able to do is hit the Download Service, so the service response contains a URL for a zip file. How do I switch this to Data Streaming ? I guess this might also turn this into a asynchronous? If so, is "runWorkspaceWithData" still the right way to do this?Currently my params look like this:var params = { filename : fileObj.name, files : [fileObj], params : []

Hi, fellow FME-lovers! I have an interesting problem that you can help me solve in an efficient way. I have many pipe segements as solids in an ifc-file, see example in Test2.ifc. The pipes are in 3D and can be connected in all directions. (I'm not sure about the fittings but for now don't mind them.). Now, I need to calculate length per segment and I started working no a complicated scripts (2D and algebra...) but there must be more of an FME-way. I'm thinking along the lines of creating a center line from pipe start to end... If you have any ideas I will gladly listen.  Bonus: what if segments are bent? Will this be handled in you solution? Peter

I am using Bufferer to create a 4 foot buffer around right-of-way polygons. The tool works for 99 percent of the areas but I am getting a few random missing polygons as shown in the screen-shots below. I did find if I change the Buffer Distance one area will generate correctly; however, the issue occurs somewhere else. Areas: Buffer with missing polygons:Any Ideas how to fix this. Buffer works fine in ArcGIS for the same features.

I have FME Desktop licensed on an air-gapped server but covid has changed my working patterns; so, for the 2 or 3 days I work from home I don't have access to my favourite software. Is there any way to borrow a license from my air-gapped server for use on a different network?

I have a workspace which uses input user credentials to do stuff. I also want the workspace to work during testing by using System environment variables. This is working great for things like DBNAME, HOST, PORT etc where the user inputs are strings (text user parameters). I can simply just enter in ${PORT} for example and FME will look for a set environment variable. Where I'm having trouble is with the password. I can't do the same thing for the password so I've created a simple scripted parameter which first checks if there is a user password set and if not try and see if there is an environment variable. In most cases it works well, however, I've discovered that some special cahrachters are getting encoded by FME - So something like @ becomes '<at>'. Does anyone know a way to 'decode' these encoded strings. Ideally it'd be done in the scripted parameter, however, if it has to be done in the workspace so be it.Short from using some kind of regex in a string replacer I'm a bit s

Hello,is it possible to run from fme system call (or python caller) and don't wait for the result?

Hi I have a lot of small geotif tiles. I need to mosaic them together as geotif in specific zones.  I tried the standard compression which is jpeg. The problem is that some zones are to large for the compression method. I get this error: "GEOTIFF writer: Failed to write the output file using JPEG compression. The raster is being written with a tile size of '29005' rows by '82874' columns, whereas the maximum number of rows or columns that JPEG compression can handle is 65500. Please reduce the tile size if writing a tiled file, or reduce the size of the raster" So I'm thinking I only need to change the compression method. I tried all the other compression methods and I always get the same warning: "GEOTIFF writer: Existing value for creation option 'INTERLEAVE' was 'BAND'. Hello,I am trying to populate a value into "_overlaps" using the PointOnAreaOverlayer Transformer but all the data keeps being Rejected.This works fine when both Readers are consuming Oracle Spatial but I think the issue may be because my Point data is non-spatial?Tried the 'Reprojector' Transformer but had no effect. The View with the Point data contains a SHAPE field therefore should contain geometry but the FME non-spatial reader does not contain the field and I cannot pick up the data using a spatial reader.I may be pursuing the wrong process here?!Thanks in advance.

Hi All,I'm trying to read a MicroStation v8 dgn into FME Desktop 2020.1 and most of it is coming through fine, but some line strings which are classed as dimensions are not coming through successfully. Here is the dgn file (note the element type is dimension, why I don't know!): And this is the output i get when reading in FME:Instead of the line I get a point and part of an arrow but that's it. No pertinent warnings and no errors at all, any ideas what I might be doing wrong (other than asking the CAD person to redo all of the leader lines)?Dan

I'm looking for documentation going over how FME Desktop checks out an ESRI license. So lets say we have 10 standard ESRI licenses in our license pool. Then one user has ArcMap/ArcPro open, taking up one of the 10 and leaving us with 9 licenses available. If FME Desktop was ran with ArcMap/ArcPro open, would FME take up one of the available licenses, or does it just need to verify the license is valid? Would we still have 9 ESRI licenses available or 8? **I'm also only referring to workspaces that actually require an ESRI license I've reviewed this page, but wanted to be sure I'm understanding how it works with the ESRI licensing.https://community.safe.com/s/article/required-arcgis-license-types-for-fme-geodatabase   

This might be a bit of a simple question but I'm looking for a way to run an FME Server Automation as a singular event, one time, similar to right-click > Run on a Windows Scheduled Task. I'm running the Automation once per week using a Schedule Trigger, but if that Automation fails, I want to be able to manually run it again without impacting the existing schedule. I could duplicate the Automation and set the Schedule as Run Immediately but that would mean changing the Schedule settings each time. Not the end of the world, but I feel like there should be an easy way to run it just one time. I was looking at FME Server's Scheduler as well but it doesn't appear that you can setup an Automation and Trigger it one time, it seems like single workspace only. I'm running FME Server 2019.1.3.1.Any thoughts?Thanks!

 We have dozens of FME 2020 workspaces that use this capability that are now failing in FME 2021 because the parameter is not available to the Python Caller.

Can you update the attributes of a feature without having to upload the geometry to a AGOL hosted feature service? For example, we have a feature service with about 80 features where the geometry for each feature is huge. We want to do daily updates to the attributes and the geometry never changes. There is a work around where you have a non-spatial table and use hosted dynamic joins, but is a little awkward.

It seems that the writer wrongly rounds the values ​​of seconds greater than 59. Using DB Browser to query the result:  Could it be a bug?
