Often I will build a workspace in FME desktop and it runs fine. Then I publish it to FME Server only to discover later that it fails to run on FME server because of a “Python Compatibility” issue. It would be great if FME Server could check Python Compatibility during the publishing process.
Seen in this community post: https://community.safe.com/s/question/0D7Dm000000994eKAA/detailWould be nice if this was handled natively within FME. Currently there is are workarounds, to use multiple writers or to use an SQLExecutor transformer.
StringLengthCalculator currently supports usage for just a single attribute. This transformer should be expanded so that multiple fields could be selected at once. This would help with determining maximum lengths of data to help troubleshoot data truncation issues, but also with validating or setting field lengths for output writers. The output could be individual attributes or perhaps a list.
My HTTPCaller returned a JSON response body, and now I'm using JSONFragmenter to grab some returned records to use in authoring a workspace. I started fragmenting 42 minutes ago and it's still running. Really just wanted to return ten records or so.I suppose the slowness is partly due to caching (while authoring) with retention of the response_body over a few thousand records. FME Workbench is using quite a bit of CPU and memory, and is storing to disk.
"Night mode" / "dark mode" of FME Workbench and InspectorMerged Ideas:Changing the background color of Workbench or adding a dark mode by mathieu_ambrosy on September 7, 2017Totally useless so totally indispensable : the ability to change the background color inside Workbench (the main tab).So we could use a dark background for example. And less specific, why not a "dark theme" or a "dark mode" in Workbench ?Nice idea for FME users falled to the lure of the dark side...
In a similar implementation from the Navigator and the Transformer Gallery pane, it would be nice to have a search box that would filter the list of attributes or attribute types on the Feature Information pane.During data exploration, JSON, XML, and flattened semantic data can have many attributes and lists. It would be nice to shorten the list in the Feature Information pane without minimizing the attributes in my canvass. A good sample to filter would be "Date" if there are many and labeled with suffixes and not as prefixes.
When configuring a workspace app, the description box gives you the option to insert an http path to an image. The default option should allow you to host an image directly on the FME Server and link to it, rather than assume you will host somewhere else! Currently it is difficult to add images to your descriptions.
For usage statistics or communication purposes, it would be really useful to get the user who runs the App without having to ask for it (via a published parameter). The FME_SECURITY_USER parameter returns the App owner so a (e.g.) FME_LOGGEDIN_USER parameter could serve to return the logged in user.
Add Array Feature Type to PostgreSQL WriterIt would be very convinient to write Arrays directly to a Postgres Database with the Writer. The current workarround for writing arrays to Postgres Tables is to use the SQLExecuter.
AutoDesk Inventor is an industry Design tool, based on AutoCAD.The files created by Inventor are not supported by FME (yet). We have some customers that would like to use the data from Inventor files in other applications. If you are using AutoDesk Inventor and want to be able to exchange this data to other applications, please support this idea.
We have found a use case not currently supported by the FME AR app. This is to use the app in combination with our drone to capture aerial images/movies within FME AR. To get this it is necessary to be able to select an external USB camera in the app as the active camera.
It would be nice to search a list from last to first using the listsearcher transformer.I know you can simply "reverse the list" and then search but would be nice to have the option using the list search transformer
Hi,I would be nice if reading and writing of VLRs were added. This helps to store metadata and reading it without the need download/load the whole file. COPC information is also stored as VLR. Without it, we cannot edit COPC laz with FME without breaking it. Best regards,Antoine.
Make use of PlantText UML editor or short PlantUML to generate diagrams that can help the reader of a workbench to understand the flow. To be used in FME Desktop for workbenches. A hierarchical view of custom transformers, bookmarks and readers and writers etcetera, can quickly give an overview of the workbench as an UML diagram.
It would be helpful to get logged information about the quality of the individual control vectors in the AffineWarper or to get exact information about their residuals (in order to delete or replace one or more control vectors with a negative impact on the result)
I am using FME 2022.1.3.0 (20220928 - Build 22630 - WIN64).I like that the log file now includes the transformer name of the transformer that is running, and even names it when running parallel processing. Now I'm wondering if it would be possible to dynamically update the Transformer name so that it would include which parallel processing group is calling it. If I could reference the Group By parameter in the transformer name, then it would include the information that would make it easier to debug errors. It is not always easy to count and figure out which subprocess is running.
Visual preview/inspector seems to automatically reproject the data, thus making the data appear as if it overlays, however the transformers don't see it that way. I spent a couple hours trying to figure out why the segments were appearing overlaid in visual preview, when the results (in my case I was using a lineonlineoverlayer) was not showing the same thing.
Script and procedure which is provided here is obsolete. On the other hand, FME Desktop is no more with 32Bit.I observed that users with ArcFM is increasing which implies very much need to add ArcFM reader & writer rather doing a round about solutions.I hope, it is useful for many users.
