Best Approach to Write to Excel Template while preserving the structure, formulas and static values

What is the best approach to write to selected excel cells if I am overwriting using an existing template? How can I make FME understand to apply the formula or the predefined values based on the feature count in my input file ? The template contains the predefined value in the first row. Talview Video Assessment

Hi, During my FME certified professional exam I am unable to clear Environment Video checking assessment as the during the upload of the video error loading page is coming. As I am unable to move the camera on 360-degree angle either from laptop or mobile device. If anyone face the same issue, could you please guide.

Is writing python becoming easier than just making a workspace now that we have AI? 

I’ve been finding lately that having an AI write code for me and just run it is becoming almost trivial, and as an FME user it’s starting to make me feel pretty obsolete. Of course there are still a tonne of caveats and you still need to be careful, but with the recent rollout of Visual Studio’s “Agent” mode to everyone the reality is fast approaching that it may be easier to create a free python based application to do a specific task than to write a workspace. Understanding these AI tools well is hands down just going to make you much more productive. But this can only be true is you can actually use them in your work which in the FME world it’s so far not so easy. For me one of the main benefits of using FME is that I don’t need to spend time writing code, but now that I can have the AI do much of the work I’m really wondering about the future of FME - Especially to juniors - If someone has to spend time learning FME vs asking an AI to create a python app to do the same why would th

Does Connection Shape Affect Performance?

Does the shape of connection lines in FME Workbench have an effect on the performance of the workspace? You bet! ALL PROOF IS in this video. With squ a re corners, the data is slowed when it reaches the corner. It can become bunched u p and affect the pe r formance of each transformer i t passes through. Curved l ines have a similar effect, although not as severe because their corners aren't as sharp. However, they are longer lines, and so the data takes more time to pass through. Straight lines have the bene f it of being the sh o rtest line and having no c o rners. As you'll see in the video, they are by far the best way to speed up your workspaces. It's not mentioned, but a l so be careful not to cross connections. Feature s can collide at the crossing, knocking off some of their vertices or attributes.

Where is the download past versions page

Where did you put your past versions download page???? I can't even find the download product page from the homepage. I have to google for it. The old download previous versions page was: https://www.safe.com/support/downloads/#past-versions But now I can only download current version 2024.0, beta version 2024.1 or past versions 2024.0.2.2 and 2024.0.1 (Which are not even past versions because the current version is 2024.0!) But I need 2021.2.6 and even 2019.2.3.2. Because I want to create backwards compatible custom transformers. And 2023.2.2 because that's the current version we all agreed on to work with. I'm sorry but your current site layout is just not working for me. It's not a getting the job done layout. I hope it's selling the product.

New questions not visible in my profile

Hi All, I have just noticed that the FME community platform isn’t updating profiles after publishing a new question? see below, I have posted 59 questions but my profile only shows 57 which is annoying as I can’t find my latest questions on the board. I have logged out and signed-in again but didn’t fix the problem :( Any ideas why this happened?

FME AR - Availability

Hello, I am interested in testing the FME-AR App on Iphone, but I cant find it in the Apple app-Store. When I open https://apps.apple.com/ch/app/fme-ar in Safari to be redirected, I get a ‘App currently not avaible in your country’ (Germany) notification. I am kinda sure I saw it in the app store a while ago though… Sadly the fme-ar info page https://academy.safe.com/page/by-product also throws a not existing error, even though the other redirects work. Can anyone tell me if this problem is on my end, my countries end or if the project was stopped alltogether? Or otherwise how I can fix it/find additional information about FME-AR? Thanks in advance!

Activate Student License

Hi, after installing the FME Form, I enter my student license number under the “Fixed License - Serial Number”, but the license is taking 3-hours (on-going) to get. Is this normal (as it indicates may take a minute), or I should forced close the licensing assistant and re-enter my license number? Thanks. Bin

Work Extension License: Has anyone received one?

Hi everyone, I know there are many users who are saddened by the removal of the Home Use licensing. To try and bridge some gaps, I’ve applied for a work extension license but haven’t received anything back. The request form mentions 10 days but it’s been well over that. So I’m wondering whether anyone has received a license via this method and how long did it take? Thanks.

Hey Safe, I’m planning to take the FME Certified Profesional exam and I wanted to know that what is the format of the exam and how many questiona are being asked. Also what kind of questiona do we get in the exam? Are they like the training program or different? Also I have read that the exam is open book. What exactly open book exam in this case means?

Where are you Lizard and Robot? I miss you!

Hi, Just a quick post to say that I’m sad that the Lizard and the robot are gone of the opening window for FME Form. I loved to see them in the roller coaster or in the balloon! Where are they? Are they dead? Hopefully they are travelling the world together and they will come back soon!

FME Flow certification self-study

Hi, I am training on FME Flow through self-study, utilizing the online course materials on FME Academy. I can see that only one chapter (Flow authoring) is currently structured like a course, with questions/answers and exercises. The others are linked to online articles, which is less user-friendly and convenient.Do you plan to do the whole FME Flow course “as a course”, just like the learning path for FME Form?

FME Community Website and Broken Links

Will Safe Software ever get around to fixing the broken links from the Community? The 2024 ‘face-lift’ has been a disaster. The websites barely function, nearly all links are broken, and don’t get me started on Flow and Form renaming.

Where can one find the Release Notes for each Build?

I have visited the https://fme.safe.com/downloads/ page and found some items of interest in the “Change log” - but would like to know a little more than the very short description provided. The product updates page https://community.safe.com/product-updates offers Feature Highlights for certain builds, but some of the items I want to know more about are not discussed. Is there a location on the website containing release notes, or slightly longer descriptions of the “Adds”, “Bugs”, and “Updates” mentioned in the Change log? ~Ray

FME Flow certificate with the help of self-study

Our company has been working hard over the past few months to train and certify consultants in FME Form. Starting this summer, the first small group of consultants will begin earning their certification for FME Flow.Just like with FME Form, the trainees will primarily work through self-study, utilizing the online course materials on FME Academy and theVirtual Machines via FME Academy Lab. The course material includes exercises that require access to an FME Flow environment.My question is: Does a trainee using an FME Academy Lab Virtual Machine have access to the FME Flow interface? Or is the functionality limited to downloading and publishing workspaces using FME Form only?And as a 2nd question, do we have access to FME Flow during the cetificate exam.Thank you in advance for your time

Why do the knowledge links fail?

Why do all the links in your community portal always go back to the login page. https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/543/floating-license-troubleshooting.html \ goes to https://community.safe.com/ Nothing against the community, but that’s not what I was looking for It makes your portal less useful.

FME Form 2023.2 build 23727

Hello, We have FME Flow 2023.2 build 23727 running. I would like to use the same build for FME Form, but can't find this version to download. When I use build 23764 FME Flow keeps on complaining my custom transformer is build in na newer version and won't run. Does someone have this build 23727 for download or has a url for me?
