I have found that using Google Earth to demonstrate GIS-data for customers is very useful. I have experimented with different icons, and found that the pushpin is the most useful. However, since the default color of the pushpin is yellow, I am limited in how many colors I can apply to this icon, so I will suggest applying a white pushpin as an option.P.S. I have noticed the white pushpin in the ”gme” catalog, however this gives an “not so nice” white square around the icon.
The ability to "watch" your workbench process is one the most AMAZING things about the development environment. I would like to see a "Clear Counts" button, somewhere, that would erase all of the counts, off of the connecting lines? Right now you have to Save, then reopen the workbench. This is not a huge deal, but it might be helpful to "clear the screen," on demand.
When a file cannot be read into the attribute (missing, inaccessible, permission denied, anything) I'd like to handle it (eg.: send a notification about it) instead of breaking the whole workspace.
Just by right clicking on any attribute appearing on a reader or transformer, a context menu will appear with the "copy to feature dataset" , a dialog box will open showing all the feature datasets/writers to add the attribute into

With FME 2015 was introduced the FTPCaller which allows uploading data to FTP server from an attribute or file.Some new ideas I 'd like to see in the next version of FTPCaller:It would be very helpful, if the transformer is able to create or delete directories on the connected ftp-server. So far, I have to still make it with PythonCaller-transformer.included Tester for FTP-conections. e.g.:a) for testing, if a special file or directory existsb) for testing, if the existing file is newer than the one i want to uploadc) etc.So far I 'm doing these tests with the PythonCaller, but it would be desirable that it is also possible with FTPCaller.

As a GeoMedia user, I'm used to being able to select a feature row in a DataWindow and have the MapWindow automatically reposition itself to show the selected DataWindow row (there are various user options regarding centering the selected feature, zooming out to a certain % beyond the feature extent, etc). Currently in FME Data Inspector, unless I'm doing something wrong. selecting a feature in the MapView DOES reposition the TableView to that feature. However, doing the opposite and selecting a feature in the TableView DOES NOT "reposition" the MapView so the selected feature is visible.
Again this is not a necessity, but just a little step towards a cleaner workspace.For transformers that can expose attributes that you didn't create yourself (e.g. JSONFlattener, XMLFragmenter etc. but not the PythonCaller), I would love to have an option to be able to directly rename the exposed attribute. Also, setting a default value might come in handy, as well as the possibility to populate a list of attributes (import from a file).So something like this:
Adding WMS connections like you can with Database and Web, so when choosing to bring in a WMS to the workbench, or more commonly as a background map would be useful so I could choose it from a drop down list, instead of having to retype of the defaults set if I want to change services.
In the ChartGenerator transformer, it could be great to have the possibility to add the max value on the ticks of the X and/or Y axis. We can put the max value to the axis but the max value does not appear on the ticks labels.
When I read a certain format that is a binary file or a zip file, there might be some data (files) stored inside it that FME cannot read. In my case for instance, I have a SketchUp file that contains a Targa image texture. Now, FME cannot read Targa (*.tga) images and drops the texture. I would like it a lot if the file is still extracted from the source file and converted to a feature that has: a binary attribute with the raw dataan attribute that stores the data/file typesome attribute(s) that stores a reference type and name/id (e.g. appearance ID, feature type..) so I know what to do with the dataThis way, I can still read and fix things myself with some Python library and the FMEObjects API for example. I don't expect FME to read everything and support all formats, but at least it would be nice to be able to deal with the unreadable data somehow, instead of helplessly watching blue warnings pass by that some features or referenced items were dropped...
I'd like an option to specify the tolerance e.g. maximum distance to close up, or maximum area to be changed for each sliver. The existing SliverRemover will fix data that is either a small change or a huge change.
Currently you can control whether or not to include the log file in a notification email by setting the ATTACH_TRANSFORMATION_LOG=true|false property of the relevant WEB-INF/conf/propertiesFile.properties file. But this applies to the service (JobSubmitter|DataDownload) as a whole.In many cases I want to attach the log file only for a failure, or only for certain subscriptions.
Create animation or dynamic image in data inspector window within specified area at break points when running workspace to visualize the transformation process and save as a video clip or GIF.Could be nice presentation material.
Select output ports that you would like to have the link from, click the input port of a transformer or a Writer, and Workbench would create links.Usually it's too slow to go to View > Feature Type Connections and select the sources and destination, thus I'm linking the ports one by one.It would be handy to have the functionality of linking multiple output ports to an input port straight in the UI, and not in an separate window (Feature Type Connections).

It would be great to have the ability to rotate the x-labels text to 90 degree, for example to account for axis with a large number values.
Add Option to Turn OFF Accumulation Mode in FeatureMerger i case I don't want any attribute from supplier.Problem occurs when there is just 1 element in the list of Requestor features and 2 elements in the list of Supplier features. Both lists have the same name.After FeatureMerger with Accumulation Mode: Use Requestor.The Second list element from Supplier will become the Second list element in Requestor Which is quite annoying.Final note: Switching Requestor and Supplier port can provide a workaround, but In my case it does not give me the result I want and causing more problem than I already have.My final solution is to always remove list from supplier before merging.

I recently needed to resample some RGB rasters to a different size (using RowsColumns), causing the aspect ratio to change. FME then changes the raster cell spacing, so that it's no longer [1,1] but [0.8,0.65] for instance. Seems more like scaling than resampling to me, but okay... Now what if I want to output this raster to a format that only supports square cells? Depending on the size, FME resizes it again before writing, so I end up with the original raster or some weird compromise (e.g. [0.7,0.7]).This is why I propose a "Force Square Cells/Preserve Cell Size Ratio" option for the RasterResampler (when resampling using the RowsColumns option).By the way: I'm now using a SystemCaller with an IrfanView command line to achieve this. It works, but it feels a bit hacky.. ;)
I'm proposing a tool/wizard that could publish a whole bunch of workspaces and/or custom transformers to FME Server at once. This could be a separate tool, but it could also be integrated into FME Workbench. Preferably though, it would be a standalone application that also accepts a command line. This way, you can hook it up to a SVN/Git repository for instance, so whenever you commit, all the stuff you created also gets published to the desired repository on FME Server.It would be nice if this tool had a "recursive" option, so that it checks if custom transformers contain some other custom transformers and publish these "dependencies" as well. Right now, FME does warn me for missing transformers whenever I publish, but it doesn't check inside these transformers.

An additional option in the statistics calculator to count unique would be great.
If your Sql executor crashes, your workbench crashes. So is it possible to add a new output (Failed) for Sql Executor ? this new feature would be very appreciated...Or what is the best thing to catch every exception of Sql Executor ?Thank you
When setting up Notifications in FME Server, everywhere that it's necessary to enter email account credentials such as for SMTP and IMAP publications, provide a 'Send Test Email' or equivalent button to prove that you've added the account correctly before you go any further and spend ages troubleshooting only to find out you miskeyed a password. Also have an option to show password so that you can see what you've typed is correct before hiding the password again.
