Check if ArcGIS License is available

I have a customer who currently has only one floating license for their enterprise. We would like to configure our workflow such that it waits until the license is available to checkout and then proceed with the translations. Is there a way to have FME check if a license is available so that I can write a loop that effectively pauses the translation until the license is available?

Create new excel based on 2 excel and based on few rules

Hello everyone, if somebody has some ideas, it would be great. I have 2 excel files. In the first one, I got attributes: indicator_id, indicator_name, iso3, country_name, 1990, 1991, 1992..., 2017 and in the second one I got attributes: ID, Country, Year Deaths, Deaths, Year Birth, Births. I need to get one excel that looks like picture 3 where indicator_name get in the column and all that has to be based on the year (picture one for Afghanistan is 2015 so we have to take the data from the same year from picture 2 ). Thanks.

How to enable communication between FME DataExpress app and FME Server

Good day,I have a working FME Server 2019 environment and would like to use the FME DataExpress app on my phone to access FME Server (and server apps). Our company uses MobileIron to secure Apple-devices and set up tunnels for communication.This way it must be possible - at least theoretically - that the IOS-app can connect to our FME-server that is behind our corporate firewall and NOT part of our DMZ.At the moment, it doesn't work and I made an appointment with our system and network engineers. I think we might open some ports in our firewall. Is there any technical information available about the communication (IP-addresses, UDP, ports, etc.) we need to know in order to configure the firewall.Thanks in advance,Frank van Doorne

With FME, Is it possible to extract a barcode from a PDF file and convert to text file?

I need to check a lot PDF file with energy bills, look the barcode and get the numbers to make the payment.So, with FME is it possible? Check this barcodes and convert to a text file or xls with all the numbers in a column.

Dynamically Expose Attributes within Python Caller

Hello,I've written a Python script that performs some data extraction and saves the results to a dictionary. I now need to expose these keys and values as attributes to FME.My Python code is simply as follows:feature = fmeobjects.FMEFeature()for keys, values in row.items(): feature.setAttribute(keys, values)self.pyoutput(feature)The only issue is that both the length of the dictionary and names of the key value pairs will be changing on a very regular basis. This essentially means that I do not have any fixed names that I can expose.If possible, I'm looking for a solution such as assigning the attributes to a parameter and then passing this parameter to the 'Attributes to Expose' box within the Python Caller.Is anything like this possible?Thanks,Jamie

resubmitting job after failure and continue automation

I built an automation with 14 workspaces in a row. If one of them fails, then the whole automation stops. Sometimes a job fails, because it can't connect to the database because of network issues. But usually after some seconds it would be ok again. As the whole automation runs during the night for about four hours, it would be very practical if it was possible, to resubmit a job, that fails and continue the automation. How to convert 3ds file to CityGML LOD3?

I already have a lot of 3ds files with textures for building. I'd like generate CityGML LOD3 data from these 3ds files.For LOD3 data generating, I think the first and the biggest problem is how to classify Window, Door and Wall.I think it is possible to crop or edit the window or door in 3D MAX.But I don't know how to assign the properties such as Window, Door and Wall.If you have any idea or experience, please share your experience.

is it possible to automate the start of the Connection Service between FME and SmallWorld 4.x ?

Hi, we have SmallWorld 4.2 and would like to automatically export data to another database using FME server on a daily basis. As stated here, the connection service to FME is started automatically in SmallWorld 5.x, not in previous versions. I need to know if it is possible to automate the start of the connection service. The idea would be for example to start automatically the connection service at 1 AM everyday and then start the export workflow on FME server at 1.05 AM. Is it possible with version 4.2 of Smallworld ?Thanks in advance !

Buffer A rectangle with different outputs required for each side

Hi guysI am looking to create a buffer where I have a rectangle. I would like the north and south to have a scale range of 1km and the east and west to have 2km. Then to have it all in one shape to show the buffer area. What would the best way to do this with the buffer tool in fme. I have seen something with python which is possible but is there anything similar in FME.Thanks

How can I simplify Minecraft map for change detection?

I've been working with Minecraft maps and FME for a while, although I'm struggling to develop a way to use change detection for a batch of 40 Minecraft maps, compared to a single map. My main issue is related to improve processing, because processing Minecraft maps as PointClouds is almost impossible due the large files it generate. How could I use change detection in Minecraft maps in optimized way?

Converting boolean to short int (or int2) errors

Hi,I'm having this error sometimes (not always, that's the weird part) when I try to convert an attribute that has 3 possible values (0, 1, null). what is the best way of solving this problems.Value of attribute 'isReg' could not be converted to type 'int2'. Feature will be logged and skipped... Last line repeated 1229 times ...

how to fill my graph with connected nodes that represnts ways on map using osm file ?

I have osm file for my city, I am using Libosmium to read it, and I'm storing nodes of each way as Vertices of My Graph, and making edges between each 2 adjacent nodes in each way, and calculationg eucledian distance between them, the problem is that : The ways are not connected with each other ! I can't reach my destination from my target, even though there is a route, but there is no node intersect between the ways (No common nodes) so I can't reach my destenation ! What nodes should I add to my Graph, and how to bridge them correctly ? so I can reach my destination from My Node ?

Fanout to multiple pdf's

I have two inputs that I'm trying to write to multiple pdfs, one is constant and the other changes with a fanout. But I can't get it to put both inputs on one pdf. I'll try and explain with an example:Input one is a roads dataset, input two is a neighborhood's dataset. I'm using a dataset fanout to produce a pdf for every neighborhood and want the roads to also be on each pdf. I can't seem to combine the two, at the moment I get a pdf for each neighborhood and a separate one for the roads. What am I missing?I'm new to FME, so apologies if this is something really simple that I've missed!Andy

Insert new nodes to the lines

Hi all, I have two different datasets and both are consist of line string. I would like to insert new nodes in the green line at the projection of the last/first node of the red lines. The desired new nodes are presented by red points in the following picture. Any idea? Thanks in advance.

FileCopy Fails writing filenames with > 256 characters?

Hello,I am trying to migrate PDFs with the FileCopy writer. I have destination path and file names with lengths from 260 - 300+. They fail, but if I change the path to be shorter they all succeed. Am I mistaken in thinking that FileCopy limited to 256 as its max pathname character count? Is there a way around this? Has anyone else run into this issue?Additional info:FME(R) 2019.0.0.0 (20190328 - Build 19238 - WIN64)Windows 10 Thank you for your advice,Andy

FME Packages not installing

Hi In previous version of FME Desktop, we could install packages, but after updating to 2019.1.3 and 2019.2, it seems to fail. I am not sure if any new updates to OS or security hardening could have an impactI am logged in as an adminstratorFailed to install web service 'C:\\Users\\adm-rudvog\\AppData\\Roaming\\Safe Software\\FME\\Packages\\19801-win64\\PackageFiles\\safe.socrata\\web_services\\Socrata.xml'. Attribute Value Mapper: Writing to an an exiting column that has a new data type:

Enterpirse geodatabase in oracle. Exisiting column has a datatype of double with values of 1,2,3 etc. I want to use ValueAttributeMapper toremap these values to sphere, board, cube etc. If I change the datatype in arcmap from Double to VarChar2 does it need to be empty or will the workbench take care of this? TheWriter currently has Drop Table: No and truncate Table: yes
