Hi. I have seen a thread in which they explain that for converting from polygon to multipolygon you only have to choose the geommetry type in the writer parammeters (on FME2019). The thing is that I can't see that option. Is multipolygon not available on FME 2018.1? If not, how can I convert a polygon to a multipolygon? Thanks! 

Hi All,  I have a table contains 3 fields like (id, value1, value2). In that table I have some duplicate records with combination of  fields (id & value1) and the field value3 contains numeric values, these may differ or same. I have requirement like  to find the largest value record from the duplicate records of combination of  fields (id & value1).  Can any one please suggest the approach that how to find the largest value record.  Thanks, Seshu

Hi,I have an attribute (string type) with values such as 37908.907836. If I use an AtributeRounder, I can reduce it to 37908.907. That's ok. But if I convert the string type to double type, the decimals comes again... I have tried to convert first and to apply the AttributeRounder later but it doesn't work. Any suggestion? Thanks!

Hello everyone,please, I just wanna use ShortestPathFInder to find shortest path between 150 points. FME needs to get clean road (line) topology to get right path. But, Ive got road network, where are tunnels and bridges that crosses roads on surface.Please, is there any way, how to compute path which uses bridges, tunnels and roads on surface together? I have experience that FME can trace path only network at the same level, or am I wrong? Thank You so much!Lubo

Hi guys, I have created all the vertices (point features with z information) on my line feature. Now i would like to create 3D polyline feture from existing line.1. I would like to maintain line feature and its attributes - so an option of creating line from points is not an option.2. Hi,  is there a way to expose the file type suffix (e.g. ".shp") after the file has been created and zipped with the FeatureWriter? The "_dataset" attribute only yealds the .zip suffix whereas _feature_type attribute does only show the file name without the suffix. Thank you for your help.

Hi, In my workflow, I am creating an .xls file with some sheets, there are two columns. One of them with the value is with the word sector and corresponding number. Hi, Is there a way to get a list of feature type names of all Readers and writers inside workspace? I don't want to read data. Good Morning,I am rather new to FME (RATHER). I have schemas and data coming for the next months, almost every day, in excel. EVERY TIME SCHEMAS WILL BE DIFFERENT (INCLUDING THE NUMBER OF FIELDS). My goal is to open a CSV file, explode the attributes (I think is the way to call it) and go from there validating each one. I need to test the length, not nulls, ASCII content (0-9, A-Z, a-z).For many I know is a walk in the park. For my is going ascending to the everest.Thanks a lot i advance.

Hi there - We're simply trying to push an SDE feature class into a zipped GDB using the "Insert" and "Truncate Existing" options. However, when we do this we receive a "Feature class must exist" message. The alternatives of using "Create if needed" and "Drop and create" aren't ideal because they recreate a Feature dataset that we don't want to see in the output. Are we doing something wrong? Or is it simply that FME cannot read a zipped geodatabase?Thanks!

In FME Server 2019, when you added a Log action, it ran a workspace that was installed with FME Server. You had to specify the location and also whether to overwrite or append.In FME Server 2020.0.1, there have been some changes. You no longer specify a location and you don't have the option to append. Since I imported a backup into the new instance, I also have the previous log and filter workspaces so I cannot check now whether these were also available with the install of FME Server 2020. Is the Log action now native to Automations and does not run a workspace, and thus does not consume an engine? I don't see a Log workspace listed in the completed jobs so I assume that is the case.Which brings me to my main question: Where do these logs actually go? I know they can be downloaded, but I would like to know where I can get to them outside of having to view them and then download. I looked in Resources\\Logs, but cannot find anything. Also is there a way to append vs. overwrite

HiNew to FME. Familiar with ETL/ELT tools.I would like to read rows from a Postgres DB and load them into Snowflake DB.I want to do it incrementally, i.e. read from Postgres only the rows that have changed since the last time the Workspace run. I have some timestamp field in the table, named "last_updated".The query should look like: "select * from table where last_updated > /previous_max_last_updated",I thought maybe doing it using a special management table, that will hold the values of last_updated for each source table, but it will require some more reader and writer in the workspace. Is there a way to hold variables from session to session? I mean, from 1 workspace run to the next?  Thanks! 

I already use Readers (ESRI Legacy) to "merge" tables based on a relation condition. This can be done by adding the SDE30_IDs clause to the mapping file. (Since it's not supported in Workbench)Since Readers and FeatureReaders seems to use the same underlying libraries, would it be possible to do the same thing at the FeatureReader level. This would allow flexible and efficient way to retrieve data since a more complex conditional clause could be built along the transformers way.Thanks,Mathieu

I wanted to centralize assignment of Database Connections in my workspace as I have quite a few transformers, readers and writers that use them and want the flexibility of switching this from one central location while testing (dev vs. test vs. production) and am noticing there is no "Connection" or 'Database Connection" type of parameter. I see "Web Connection" but nothing else. Curiously when a SQL reader is added though, a parameter is indeed added to the workspace as you can see below, but it doesn't show what kind it is (2019.1):I will re-purpose one of these and re-link, then delete the redundant ones, but this does feel a bit of a workaround and was expecting to be able to create the user parameter from scratch. Unless of course I'm missing something? Thanks.

Hi, I think i have a simple question. I have a csv where the xy is in one attribute. See example (geo_xy) but i have to do an poinonarea but because i have no x and y seperate he doesn't do it. FME doesn't recognise the geometry. I have already tried to extract the x and y by using multiple tranformers. Even used stringextractors but the number of numbers of x and y is various so it's not flawless. I am sure there is an easy way to do it but I cannot find it.Can somebody help me? ThxNathalie 

Hi,I wounder if it's possible to set custom name of sketchup groups in the Outliner, using i.e. GeometryPropertySetter and "Traits from attribute"? Basically the same as setting the sketchup_layer_name as trait. I have mananged to group objects using aggregator.I tried to solve it by the suggested solution on this tread: https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/2300/writing-multipatch-features-to-sketchup-groups.htmlbut couldn't get it to work. In a directory I have some textfiles and their names contain a date (xy... 2017-12-13.txt). Each month there's a new file. I want to read only the newest file, but I don't want to change the name in the reader each month. So my idea is to read them all (or at least one record to get the fme_basename), compare the dates and then read only the newest file.So I tried various approaches (first extracting the date out of the filename, then use Aggregator, Sorter, VariableSetter...) but I don't manage to compare the dates of the features as I can't see a way to set the initial value...Any ideas?

Hello All,  I am trying to loop through a feature class with 30+ fields, each field having terrible quality data filled with duplicate white space. I am trying to find a way to loop through the feature class, checking each field and then replacing the duplicate white space with single white space. I can do this manually, one at a time, with 30+ StringSearchers->StringReplacers. However, I am wondering if anyone has found a way to build a custom function to loop through each field and replace values? I would prefer to call a custom transformer and loop through all fields than build 30+ groups of two transformers. Currently in the string replacer I only see the option to do one string at a time.
