I am working with a 3D city model (composed of meshes), where the vertex normal pool is simply a copy of the vertex pool. Obviously, this is incorrect and I do not know why that is the case, as I was simply handed the model ready-made. I am wondering therefore if there is a possibility to do a reset for these measurements? To calculate the vertex normals in some automatic way anew? I appreciate any input on this matter! I have a folder of ~300 2gb DEM files. I want to produce hillshades of these 300 individual tiles so that when viewed together the colour ramp is the same across file boundaries. Rasterhillshade doesn't work well if the min-max values on a file is 5m-300m and the adjacent file is 5m-900m. I've previously put DEMS through a raster mosaic and then produced a hillshade but with this size of data that's not feasible. Any ideas how this can be done?

I would like to know about difference between inside point, centre of gravity and centre point transformer ? if any example to see differences. I tried with general shape file didn't find any differences.

Hi i am relatively new FME user. i am trying to complete a task but any path i pick i crash on a wall. I have an SDE drive with feature classes and table. Each feature class record has a primary key which is linked to my tables through a foreign key field. I need to know who many times a primary key value is found in my tables, create a new feature class and give in separate fields named (1st visit, second visit etc) some information about the table the record was found.What is the best path and how to get there.

Hi,is it possible to loop through a FeatureJoiner? I created a custom transformer and I activated the setting to allow blocking transformers. My goal is to remove the first 3 rows and the connected IDs in the rows further down.2 Screenshots (hopefully) help to understand the problem).Thanks!  

Dear community, I want to read a geopackage, transform it, and write into the same database. After the process the geopackage f_id need to be the same as in the beginning.  When I choose "update", "drop and create" and geopackage_fid as the ID Attribute in the writer settings, I get the warning "OGCGEOPACKAGE writer: Cannot perform Update on feature type 'grundnutzung' because feature with ID '21024' does not exist. Skipping feature". When I choose "update" with "use existing" it works but features that have been deleted during the transformation still exist in the database. When I choose "insert" and "drop and create" it works but then the features geopackage f_ids change. What are the correct settings to write into the database keeping the same geopackage f_ids? Thanks!   

I had a workbench created with desktop 2019.2.1. It had a s3connector in it and worked fine for over 6 months now. I recently installed 2020.1.3 on the same machine, the workbench worked fine in 2020.1.3 and was saved in 2020.1.3. Today, I installed 2020.1.3 on two other machines which had not had any FME installed before. The workbench works fine on one machine, but on the other machine, at opening, it gives an error related to the s3connector. See attached screen capture. It then opens the workspace, but the s3connector is gone. Is there a way to fix this? I really want this workbench to work on this machine.

Hi. I have read the citygml data and changed wall and ground surface. How can I draw the new wall surface between them(without extrude)? I need all as surfaces at the end.

I'm properly stumped and would love some thoughts on this one. I'm taking a collection of GPS points that make up a track. I've taken these points and sequenced them and created line separate line segments (strictly 2 points). These segments now span the length of the track and they have been sequenced with an ID in the order they occur (based on timestamp). I'd like animate these lines in a stop motion/claymation fashion. And show a cumulative line segment (in order to reduce the number of features) and assign a frame identifier that dictates the frame in which to show/reveal the feature. So far, I've been using the Cloner and setting the number of copies as the ID of the feature and assigning the output clones a _copynumber. This results in large volume of features that I can then combine using the LineCombiner and grouping based on the _copynumber. This works but it's not very efficient. The reader is a known source that works without any problems in other workspaces, that is why I find this part of the log strange:" contains invalid reader keyword '{{*}}'. I have a Workbench. It has a Esri ArcGIS Online (AGOL) Feature Service Writer. It works perfectly. Workbench was daily running successfully. Now yesterday we upgraded from Version 2019.1 or .2 to Version 2020.2 Now i get errors and the Writer cant find the content of the Group anymore.I dont see anything if i want to choose the Feature Service. Not even Groups. The Writer changed from the two FME Versions because in the new Version at Feature Service the ID gets attached behind. That was not in the old Version. If I use the Esri ArcGIS Online (AGOL) Feature Service Reader i see every Group and everything i should see. If my Collegue uses his Account he can see the Groups and everything in the Writer. I dont. Now the Question is it a FME Problem or ArcGIS Online Problem? With my ArcGIS Online Account and the Groups nothing changed only the FME Version changed and now i cant see any Feature Service and before everything Worked perfectly.

Hi, I have created Excel xlsx files using FME (using a Template and adding values in, for various formulae to use the inputted values to calculate others), and it works really well! My issue is then when I read that xlsx file back through FME, the formula (IF statements mainly) don't pick up the inserted values! I have them formatted as Numbers in both Excel and FME, and the statement is similar to '=IF(AB8=0,"No Maps",AB8)', which works well when opening in Excel, but every value is 'No Maps' for the above cells when opening in FME! Very frustrating! I'm running FME Desktop 2020.2.4, 64 bit. Thanks!

Trying to read from SDE but I get the following error:Unable to read from the table/feature class 'schemaName.tableName'. If 'schemaName.tableName' contains a class extension, make sure it is registered on this computer.Yes, there is a featureclass extension and it is correctly installed on the same machine. Arcmap is showing the parcels ok. The sde backend is postgres and SDE 10.6.1    

Screenshots for how I filled out the parameters below. I have my organization's custom URL listed for host, my username, password, and security token listed. When I try to populate the table list, I get the error seen below. I know my 'API Enabled' setting in salesforce is true. I also get this error text occasionally: "Failed to obtain any schemas from reader 'SALESFORCE' from 1 datasets. This may be due to invalid datasets or format accessibility issues due to licensing, dependencies, or module loading. See logfile for more information" Is there some other setting or access problem I'm having on the salesforce side? I read through the documentation and there isn't anything glaringly wrong.

I am trying to connect to a salesforce account with the Salesforce reader. I keep getting an HTTP/FTP error "Could not connect to the server". I assume this is a proxy error where the reader is being blocked by my organization's firewall. To fix it, I would need to submit a Port Open Request to allow the traffic inside my organization. But I have no idea which port or URLs FME is trying to hit with the Salesforce reader. Is there a tool inside of fme that would allow me to see where FME is getting hung up? Or something outside of FME to look at that information?

Quiz! Difficulty: Hard. Make a recursive Clipper I want to clip 2000 partially overlapping areas with each other. And they are sorted and given a priority in the order they need to be clipped. Attached is an example workspace that uses text as a sample. Shown below are the result. The letter "F" is the first clipper, then "M", then "E" etc. Så every area/letter is behind the other one. The attached workspace shows the approach. How can I wrap the equal processes within the "New Bookmark" into a custom transformer that works recursively so I dont need to copy/paste these bookmarks x number of times. Good luck!  

I have an ArcGIS Portal OAuth web connection I created for myself and successfully uploaded to our FME Server. It's been working great. My assumption is, because it's OAuth, I can share the web connection with my colleagues who are being switched over to OAuth on ArcGIS Portal and also have workspaces on FME Server utilizing ArcGIS Portal feature services. As a test I exported my web connection, sent it to a colleague who imported it and then changed a workspace with Portal connections to use the OAuth web connection. He manually ran the workspace without issue. When he tried to upload the workspace to FME Server, however, he received a warning there was already a connection with the same name - the one I had already uploaded. Neither of the two options given worked. 1) He could upload the workspace without overwriting the OAuth web connection already on FME Server but then the workspace failed to write to ArcGIS Portal. (Only Portal Writers in his workspace, no Readers.) FME S

I have a workspace that copies a file from one location to another. Now I want to use the copied file as input to a reader. How do I do that? 

I'm trying to write to an ArcGIS Portal Feature Service but I don't see it in the list of available services when setting up the writer. I don't own the layer but it is shared with the entire organization allowing write capabilities to all. It doesn't belong to any groups. Strangely, I can see layers in groups to which I don't even belong. I am connecting using a web connection that uses OAuth. Am I missing something? Bug? I'm using FME Desktop 2020.1.2.1 (Build 20624 WIN64).

Hello, I have two geojson files, available [here] (until the 21/04/2021). Each one contains a MultiLineString feature, converted to IFMEMultiCurves with FME. I would like to be able to detect any overlapping segment, with some tolerance, no matter their directions, and set a property to any overlapping (or "close-enough") segment from one dataset with any segment from the other dataset.I have tried various transfomers, but I am not able to detect overlapping segments, nor to break my datasets into segments ... Any advice about how to do this ? Thanks in advance :)
