Hello  As the title says I cannot access the tables in the oracle Spatial DB (10.2.0.4.0) with the add Reader command.  The strange thing is, that with the transformer "OracleQuerier" I have access to the tables in the DB. I suspect it is because with the transformer, i can choose which version of Oracle (9i/10g/11) i have. With the reader I cannot.  Do you have any ideas? Do you need more information about my specs? I use FME 2011 SP4 on WIN32  The connection parameters are correct as i can get a connection to the Oracle DB with SQL Manager, ArcMAP (with add sql layer) and AutoCAD MAP. And as I mentioned with the OracleQuerier as well.  Excuse my english Regards Bernard

Hey Geos,  Has anyone built a workbench the reads in ASCII point and line file and generates either the RasterDEMGenerator or DEMGenerator?  The ASCII breakline contains 4 fields (X, Y, Z, start/stop[1]).  The breakline has a 1 at the start of the breakline then 0 for each vertice, then a 1 for the end of the breakline.  I am unable to figure out how to have the transformer reads the breakline.xyz file.  This breaklines are seperate from the ASCII point files.  Looking for some help with this head scratcher.  THANKS.

Hi there,  This might be a novice question but does anyone know how to actually remove (i.e. delete) a workspace from FME Server? I couldn't find any references for this. I'm using the 64-bit linux version of FME Server 2012 by the way.  Thanks in advance,  Cheers, Ben

Hi!  When using a workspacerunner on a workspace it will go through the FAILED port if it fails and the SUCCESS port if it succeedes. However what if I have a situation where I want it to write to an output - BUT under certain conditions I also want it to FAIL AFTER writing the file. Can I set the attribute SUCCESS or FAIL on a python-shutdown script, if yes, what is the name of the parameter? 

I have a large NITF image (grey scale, with palette). In the course of a number of transofmrations (reprojection, etc.) it gets converted to an RGBA (the palette is resolved).    Now I want to save it as a PNG. I do not need all the RGB bands. I see that PNGRASTER has a grey scale, and also a pallette option.    Is there a transform to shrink the RGBA to a Grey Scale plus Alpha PNG image (and pallette might also be nice).    The goal is to get the disk size smaller. Just compressing at level 6 is resulting in a 400% explosion from the original NITF.   

Hi all, I'm running FME Desktop 2012 and I have an instance of ArcServer with SDE on Amazon EC2.  This instance hosts/runs our publicly accessible GIS maps/apps etc.    Is it possible to write data to my SDE GDB sitting on this Amazon instance using FME workbench?  Thanks, Steve

Hello.  I have several hundred .xyz files that I want to translate to las/laz files.  Using a reader-writer (Point Cloud XYZ- LAS) does the job:  Inputs are something like 100903_120345.xyz, 100903_120736.xyz but the output files have names like POINTCLOUDXYZ.las, POINTCLOUDXYZ_1.las and so on What I would like to happen is for the output files to inherit the base name of the input so that the outputs would be named 100903_120345.las, 100903_120736.las etc. I'm very new to FME so apoligies for this simple question.  Thanks  Justin.

AttributeExploder seems to output attributes in a different order to those in the input.  Is there a way I can either prevent them being reordered or somehow tag and re-sort to the original order later?

i have a string with coordinate pairs forming a polygon. the missing parameters are created using sql. I was wondering if there is an easier method setting up a default polygon in the desired geographical area. just the sdo_ordinates vary for each inserted line in the table.

Hi,  I am creating a data download service with FME Server that should provide an ESRI File Geodatabase and an MXD file. The MXD file should be postprocessed with Python and arcpy in a shutdown script to fit the feature classes, extent and projection of the extracted data. The workspace transfer the MXD is  to the FME Server output location together with the File Geodatabase. This works well in FME Desktop. The MXD is accessed programatically using an output folder published as a parameter. The same method does not work with FME Server. How do I access the MXD file  in the FME Server output location programatically from Python?  Regards, Knut Olav

Thre should be a simple solution for what I am trying to do, but for some reason I can't think of it.  I have two polyline feature classes.  Feature Class 'A'  is made up of segments of the Feature Class 'B'.  However, not all segments of a line from 'B' exist in 'A'.  Some segments are missing.  What I need to do is compare the two to find out what is missing in 'A'.  Basically just looking for a "subtract" feature for lines.  I know how to do this for polygons, but not for lines.   Any ideas would be much appreciated!  I feel like it is really simple and I'm just overlooking the easy solution!

Hello,  I'm trying to calculate the amount of overlays of features in a geodatabase. Im using the AreaOnAreaOverlay transformer for this. However, what comes out of the transformer is quite strange. The amount of input features is 13, yet, the _overlays attribute gives values upto 24. Additionally, it fills in gaps (holes) that aren't part of the shape but are surrounded by the shape.   In the attached file I provided the workspace and files I'm working with.  ftp://ftp.safe.com/incoming/FME_AOA_error.zip  I would really appreciate the assistance, I don't quite understand how this is happening.

I have a workspace using a "Swiss Interlis" writer that produces an XML file. The writer takes the full path of the file from a parameter. I have linked this destination parameter to a Python scripted parameter that generates the file names dynamically depending on user input.  That workspace works fine in FME Desktop and as a Job Submitter service on FME Server. If I publish the workspace as Data Download service it fails with the error message: "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect" and also returning the source code of the Python parameter. It looks like the Python source code is used as a file path rather than running the script and using its result.  I changed the script to only return a filename instead of the full path, but I still get the same error message. If I enter a hardcoded file name into the writer destination parameter (instead of the Python script) everything works fine and the file name is used in the downloadable zip

Hello community!  I tried several times to get mtexts of a dwg into sqlite without success. the mtext-entities are represented as points in sqlite, transferring text-string and text-rotation as attributes of these points. text-string as well as other stuff (height etc.) can be exported without any problems, but with rotations i never had any success. i tried "autocad_text_rotation" as well as "autocad_rotation" as well as "fme_rotation" but always gives a "0" as result in sqlite. datatype of rotations in dwg is always "number, 31,15". I tried using "decimal, 31,15" for the sqlite, but it says in the log, fme can only create "decimal, 29,15" datatype in sqlite.  What's the problem? Why can't i use the dwg-mtext-rotation? thx for any help, best regards from switzerland.

I have done features migration into FGDB to Oracle SDE Format through Mapping using FME  . There is any tool , this will give me mapping between Writer  & Reader In csv  or any other format .

We are trying to view in FME for connecting the Oracle Spatial data. I have developed many workbences having parameters username=ADPUGSD Servicename : Stage . But I want to move my data into another server having another servicename : 'stage_new' . Then I will modify scripts with changes in parameters on writer side or I will add another writer and then mapped to source. Pls clarify & do needful asap

I've had great succes in FME  2012 using attributeValueMapper. In 2013 beta I find it completely bogus - whatever I do the values are mapped from null to null, including the  "default value" field.   Opening a workspace created with 2012  and inspecting it I see that my mapping are replaced with null to null relations.   This probably means I'll have to revert back to 2012, just as I was starting to appreciating some of the new shiny things of the 2013 beta... :(   Or is it some new functionality / logic / whatever that I get wrong?

I have an automated nightly process that runs and outputs several tables to SQL Server 2008.  This week we have had intermitten issues with connecting to SQL server.  One night it failed and the next it worke and then again it failed.  It is giving me an warning message of:    MS SQL Server: Connection not properly cleaned up, please contact support@safe.com. Connection key '1_|_3_|_TABLENAME_|_DATABASENAME_|_<unused>_|  I am looking for any insight of what might be causing this.  Is it an FME issue or a SQL DB issue.  I am running FME 2012 SP2 Build 12235 WIN32.  Thanks Travis

I try to convert a stormwater AutoCAD file into ArcGIS feature classes. How can I identify the flow direction. i.e. for a pipeline, which side is upstream or downstream? 

So I am using the schemamapper to batch map attributes from one format to another using a CSV. In the CreateAttributeMap screen I have it set remove the source attribute. When I run my features through, it appears that all the attributes in the CSV are being assigned to every feature regardless if they exist on the source and attaches them to the output feature as an empty attribute (which is why in my last post I asked about removing all empty attributes).  Has anyone else seen this behavior? Is there a setting in the schemamapper that tells it to only map attributes that exist on the source?  Using FME 2013 x86 b13187  Thanks, Sean

We are running FME Server 2013 Data Streaming which is driven from a MapGuide site and outputs PDF files. This is quite a complex workspace which generates logs up to about 2MB per request. I would like to be able to turn down the degree of logging to just ERROR if possible. Some of the other services seem to have the option in the .properties file to set the DEBUG_LEVEL = SEVERE. This does not appear to be an option in the Data Streaming config file. I tried adding it anyway with no success.  Anyone have any thoughts? Am I missing something basic here?  Thanks, J  

I am reading a line feature class in sde and the output is a buffer polygon. I am going to sum an attribute in dissolve but want to make sure the attribute is  updated.  the original data is in a projection with meter as the unit.  I want to update 2 fields with the length in feet and the length in miles.  Is there a way to do that in the same workspace?  In arcmap I would have to start an edit session, select the coordinate system, calculate geometry, then choose the unit to output.

I would like to use FME to calibrate a regular street network for use as the basis of a linear referencing system.  Business rules are pretty simple: - routes should be built from constituent street segments without merging said segments - assume that valid routeID's already exist as an attribute in street segments - routes begin in cardinal south and end in cardinal north - routes begin in cardinal east and end in cardinal west - route measures are based on lengths of geometries composing the routes.   I recently created the results I want using Geomedia Pro with Geomedia Transportation Manager, but I would like to migrate to using FME so that the workflow is more easily reproducable.   Any resource that can help me get this done is appreciated.
