The Great FME Balloon Contest: December 3rd - December 16th

12 Days of FME 2024 Contest (the “Contest”)
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this Contest, a contestant must be over the age of majority within their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry. Contestants in jurisdictions where these types of contests are prohibited by law, or where a license is required, are not eligible. Employees of Safe Software Inc. ("Safe") and their household members are not eligible to participate in the Contest.
Contest Period:
The “Contest Period” begins on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time and ends on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time. Entries received after the close of the Contest Period will not be eligible.
How to Enter and Play:
- Login to your FME Community account or sign-up for a free FME Account if you’re not yet a registered user.
- Visit the 12 Days of FME Contest page and click the Register button. Choose your team name and home country for your balloon.
- Click the Launch button on the contest homepage and pick a launch location for your balloon or let the system automatically launch it within 12 hours. Note: to start everyone in the same general area, launch locations must fall somewhere within Great Britain.
- FME Flow powers and tracks your balloon’s travel using current weather conditions over the period of the contest.
- You can let your balloon go where the wind takes it or navigate your balloon by issuing commands to change altitude to a level you think has more favourable wind speeds and direction.
- Earn points for different achievements, like flying over a continent or country. Learn more about the scoring here. Prizes are based on different achievements - see “Prizes Available” section for further details.
- During the contest, connect with other users in a dedicated 12 Days of FME thread on the forums.
No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win.
Entries are limited to one (1) entry per individual. Do not sign up for multiple FME Community accounts in order to register multiple times.
Prizes Available:
- One (1) prize, a Mova globe valued at approximately US$220, will be awarded to the contestant with the highest total number of points at the end of the Contest Period
- One (1) prize, a Mova globe valued at approximately US$220, will be awarded to the contestant with the second-highest number of total points at the end of the Contest Period.
- One (1) US$100 Amazon gift card will be awarded to the contestant who creates the best visualization of race data, as determined by Safe based on (a) aesthetic quality, (b) innovation, and (c) analysis of race data.
- One (1) US$50 Amazon gift card will be awarded to the contestant who achieves the fastest speed during the contest.
- One (1) US$50 Amazon gift card will be awarded to the contestant who completes the race with the furthest total distance travelled.
- One (1) US$50 Amazon gift card will be awarded to the contestant who completes the race and flies over the most countries. (each country will only count once).
- One (1) FME/Safe Software swag prize pack, valued at approximately US$50, will be awarded to the contestant whose balloon flew closest to the Safe Software office in Surrey, British Columbia.
- One (1) FME/Safe Software swag prize pack, valued at approximately US$50, will be awarded to the contestant whose balloon lost the most points by flying over airports.
If there is a tie for a prize, then, as between the tied contestants, the contestant whose balloon had the fastest speed at any point during the Contest will be the winner of that prize. If there is still a tie after looking at the fastest balloon speed, then the winner of the prize will be determined using a random draw of all tied contestants.
All prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable or convertible to cash. In the event that Safe is unable to award a prize as described, Safe reserves the right to award a replacement prize of equivalent value in its sole discretion.
Only one (1) prize may be awarded to each contestant.
Odds:
The odds of winning a prize depend on the total number and timing of eligible entries received during the Contest Period.
General Rules:
Selected contestants will be notified by direct message via the email address associated with their FME Account by no later than Friday, December 20, 2024 and must respond within five (5) business days of such notification to receive a prize. If a selected contestant does not respond within this time frame, they may be disqualified and Safe may, in its sole discretion, select another contestant. Safe is not responsible for the failure of a contestant to receive notification, or for our failure to receive a contestant’s response, for any reason whatsoever.
Before being declared a winner, each selected contestant may be required to sign a standard Release Agreement and Canadian contestants may be required to correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical, skill-testing question.
Allow 4-6 weeks for shipment of the prize after verification of your address and contact information. Safe is not responsible for any change of email address, mailing address and/or telephone number of any contestant.
Safe assumes no responsibility for lost entries, for failure to receive notice of entries, for any failure of the website or platform during the Contest Period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any network or telephone lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof.
In the event of a dispute as to who submitted an entry, the entry shall be deemed submitted by the “authorized account holder" of the FME Account or the email address used to enter the Contest. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. A contestant may be requested to provide us with proof that they are the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the potentially winning entry.
By entering this Contest, each contestant expressly consents to Safe, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with their entry for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Safe’s Privacy Policy. All personal and other information requested by and supplied to Safe for the purpose of the Contest must be truthful, complete, accurate, and in no way misleading. Safe reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any contestant who supplies untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleading information.
By entering the Contest, you agree to abide by the Contest Rules and the decisions of Safe, which are final.
Anyone who creates multiple FME Accounts to enter the Contest may be disqualified.
By accepting a prize, you agree that Safe can use your name, voice, and/or photograph in any publicity or advertising related to the Contest carried out by Safe without further remuneration, except where required by law.
No more than the stated number of prizes shall be awarded. If, due to an error, there are more claims for prizes than prizes available, then Safe reserves the right to award the prizes through a random drawing of eligible prize claims.
Safe reserves the right to suspend, cancel or modify the Contest at any time if Safe determines that, for any reason, the Contest cannot be run as originally planned or if there is any other occurrence compromising the fairness or integrity of the Contest.
The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial and municipal laws. Void wherever prohibited by law or in jurisdictions that require a license to hold such contests.
