I'd like the option in the date formatter to choose whether to Create New Attribute or Overwrite the existing Attribute, similar to that in the Expression Evaluator.

@egomm a long time ago, that's how theDateFormatter worked. But that meant you could only convert one date at a time. Users asked that DateFormater be able to work on multiple dates hence the switch to it's current interface but without the ability to rename the formatted date. Enabling renaming of the reformatted date would mean a table - similar to AttributeRenamer. Would adding a prefix or sufix be sufficient?

In FME 2017 we have added datetime functions and these are accessible anywhere the text editor is accessible, i.e. in the AttributeManger. Do you think this might meet your needs for renaming the reformated dates?

I've not seen any of 2017 functionality yet but it sounds like it will enable the outcome I want without having to resort to a dateformatter at all
