AutoDesk Inventor is an industry Design tool, based on AutoCAD.

The files created by Inventor are not supported by FME (yet).

We have some customers that would like to use the data from Inventor files in other applications.

If you are using AutoDesk Inventor and want to be able to exchange this data to other applications, please support this idea.

Hello FMEers - I'm back. I am also looking at AutoDesk Inventor translations. And happy to be a tester.

We're seeing more requirements for this format in the manufacturing space, where the format is used both for product design to load into cutting / grinding machines, robots, and for plant equipment and racking layouts. In order to estimate location-determination sensor networks, it is more useful to have the 3D view of things than just the floor-plan or plant layout.

+1 for this. Helps to extract data from Autodesk Inventor. You can also use STEP-files. But that is not supported either.

+1 we use Inventor for substation design and some other 3d work. Ability to read and write to pdf &/or pdf/a would be useful.
