Why does featurewriter hang when I import featuretype from dataset? Is this a bug?

FME Flow Version: FME(R) 2023.1.1.0 (20230928 - Build 23631 - WIN64)

Windows Version: Windows 10 Pro for Workstations (Build 19045.3693)

  1. I add a FeatureWriter to the canvas.
  2. I open its configuration dialog.
  3. I set the format as Microsoft SQL Server Non-Spatial
  4. I set the connection one of the Database Connections I have saved in FME.
  5. I click the drop down menu below the Feature Types input port list and select Import from Dataset...
  6. I select the table from the dialogs.
  7. The table attributes are loaded and the table shows up in the Feature Types input port list.
  8. I close the dialog and the FeatureWriter transform is now not accessible and immovable. I am able add other transformers, readers, and writers, but if I resize the Flow window, the window panes do not resize with the window.

That seems like a bug, probably worth reaching out to support and opening a ticket

Ok, thank you.

This sounds very similar to a support case we recently had. The issue was raised with Safe and according to them the behaviour was not present in the 2024 beta's. The issue number is FMEFORM-29677, you can contact Safe's support and ask to be added to notifications for that.

Correct @redgeographics (Red Geographics) the fixed versions are 2023.2 (officially released - https://engage.safe.com/support/downloads/#official) and 2024.0 as a beta currently.

Thank you all. Safe confirmed that I needed to upgrade to 2023.2.
