Hi Community! 👋 Welcome back to Community 101—a series where we share quick, bite-sized insights about the community.
If you use the FME Community, you might feel like you need to be an expert to jump in - or like you should be posting answers or asking questions right away.
You’re not alone. Many community members start by reading, following, and observing, and that’s a completely valid way to participate.
Participation Looks Different for Everyone
Being part of the community can mean:
- Reading discussions and solutions
- Following tags, categories, or topics
- Bookmarking posts for later
- Checking in when you need help
You don’t have to post or comment to be “active.”
How People Often Get More Involved (Over Time)
For many members, participation grows naturally:
- Start by searching and reading
- Ask a question when you’re stuck
- Join a discussion or add a comment
- Share a tip, workflow, or answer when you’re ready
You Don’t Need to Be an Expert!
You don’t need:
- All the answers
- Years of FME experience
- The “perfect” question, but we do have tips for asking good questions. Check that out here!
If something helps you, chances are it will help someone else too. If you have tips for asking good questions, comment below and help others out!
Whether you’re here to learn quietly or ready to jump into conversations, you’re already part of the FME Community - and we’re glad you’re here!
