I have just installed FME Desktop 2017.0 in OS X (El Capitan) and when I run FME Workbench, I get the following error:

Invalid scale reduction specified in coordinate system definition 'Calgary_3TM_WGS_1984_W114'

FME won't open

Sounds like a bug, please report it directly to Safe support with all the steps necessary to reproduce, if possible.

Hi @mikel, I'm sorry that you have run into this error! We recently had another customer contact Safe Support and discovered a temporary solution:

1. Open /Library/FME/2017.0/Reproject/LocalCoordSysDefs.fme in any text editor

2. Find the definition for Calgary_3TM_WGS_1984_W114 (~Line 264)

3. Change the SCL_RED value from 0.999900 to 1

4. Save the file and try opening FME Desktop again

*Please note that our Development Team is actively investigating. As @david_r suggested, please contact the and we will provide you with updates.
