Tell us more about what you do and how you use FME?
I sling data non-stop! Whether it's downloading and reprojecting aerials for my CAD colleagues and consultants, or creating a spatial view of work orders in the terminal, there's lots to do.
Why did you join the FME Community?
For answers mostly when my questions are already online! ;) Probably the best spot to find like-minded FME users that have similar issues or doing things that I’ve not yet tried out.
What tips do you have for users on how to get the most out of the FME Community?
Test and re-test; lots of different ways to process the data into what you want. Iterating your workspace in different ways really helps get to a long-term solution.
Tell us about some of the exciting use cases you've built using FME.
Our work order and asset management system, Maximo, doesn't have spatial abilities, but there are location descriptions already mapped out. So FME really bridges this gap when we need to see WHERE exactly issues are occurring for incidents around the terminals or out on the airfield.
What's one of your favourite tips or tricks for using FME?
Use SQL WHERE clause in FeatureReaders if you are getting your data from an enterprise database.... really cuts down on the time needed to process your workspace.
If you were stranded on an island and could only bring three things with you, what would they be?
A soccer ball, a phone with unlimited access to the internet, and sunscreen. (I'm assuming water, shelter, and food are taken care of?!?)
If you could work from anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A small town on the beach in Portugal, where I have extended family
